I know this is a 3yo video but thank you for this! I am planning on moving very soon and I don't have a big budget for a room. I want to still be able to do my art because I am dissabled and it brings me the most joy. I also have been wanting to start selling at markets or online soon. This was very usefull because it will help me organizr my many supplies in a small room
I've always had a desk for work at home, so it was a natural to do Art at it as well. We moved into our forever home 19 years ago and all kids have flown the coop. I now have two (2) guest rooms and a Master Bedroom. The 4th bedroom is "ALL MINE" (makes me giddy) and is my Art Room. I cannot believe how lucky I am. I started out with rubber stamping postcards and such in 1991 at the dining room table. There you go......two extremes. My Art Room is organized (meaning I know where everything is) but looks like a mess. I usually clean up my desk before I start a new project. You amaze me that you are so organized in a small space. I am so impressed. Love your Vlogs!!!!!!
Thank you for this tour!!!! I'm moving into my minivan to travel the country and downsizing from an art studio to two 47" wide racks has been very overwhelming.
Love luv your lil art space... I can relate because my art space is on my 16 foot RV table... I am a retired full time RV’er soon to be looking for land for a tiny house of sorts... and would love to have a separate tiny house for a art room... Keep up the great vids...
Love the fun tour! Love the ring light toilet lid reference. I know working in a tiny space is sometimes difficult. My space is a workspace in a large studio. My studio is broken into workspaces devoted to various forms of arts and crafts. I like that you did provide some very needed suggestions of storage items that I could probably use. I will be on the look out now for them! Thanks, Iris. I always enjoy the glimpses into your art spaces and ideas.
That is my dream Carolyn, a large studio with different work spaces!! Maybe someday. I'm glad you liked the video and found it useful for storage suggestions!
I started out at the kitchen table, then I had a table in my living room, now I am lucky enough to have a whole room for my art. I agree you don't need a lot of space to create a lot of great art.
Yay what a wonderful journey! When it happens like that you really know what you can achieve without space, and also appreciate the space when you have it.
Thank you for sharing this, I'm a fan of your vlog too ;-) Keeps me sane to see nobody is perfect! I'm moving to a smaller house in a few months, allready got rid of a lot of stuff, but still not sure if it will fit in the new house. Now that I have seen your space I feel more confident about it ;-) oh and a have a whole bunch of 'resting' journals too, you can never have too much of them !
I'm so glad that sharing my imperfection helps. It can be so disheartening to see so much (filtered) perfection on the internet. Good luck with your move!
aww wonderful My art space is in my room to it was difficult to get used to as I have had my own room for years but now a smaller space but I am making it work just fine , though can be a little frustrating at times . I have a long Hallway that i can put paintings up on the wall though so that is kool . we can do many great things in small spaces
I relate about having to move from a bigger to a smaller space. The mental aspect of that is difficult. That sounds nice about the hallway! I'm terrible at putting up my own work haha, I really should try and make more of an effort with that, would be nice.
@@iris-impressions-art oh yes I think that too is a process in believing in our self and that we are worthy and what we do is worthy to be seen ,it is pretty kool though as for me is like my own little Gallery so when was able to have people in when they walked down the hallway they could see my work. also was a great way to have a safe place for them to hang and made more space in my room . :0 you will get there is is a great sense of accomplishment to display and to see our growth as well. for our stand alone pieces :)
Such a sweet crafting space 🧡 I have a little old writing desk (with the pull down lid thing) that I sit down and work at. I totally agree you don’t have to have a big fancy set up in order to get creative!
Thank you so much! I'd LOVE to have an old writing desk like that (I actually have one but it's storage in The Netherlands - never managed to pick it up as I don't have room for it... maybe someday!), that feels like such an inspiring piece of furniture.
Awesome! Loved your tour! And I totally get it ....because I now work in a small space too. A small multipurpose room. I don’t let the lack of space stop me either.....I make it work the best I can . Love the way you store and organize things. Really appreciate you sharing this 🌺
Yesss, I am so glad you feel similar about your smaller space. I do get envious when I hear about people with big spaces or studios, so it's so validating to hear when people also make do with a small space.
Yay for bedroom art space, I find I get more art made this way as I don't sleep well, so at least 2 or 3 nights a week I'm awake by 4am and I'm looking at my desk and "stuff" and I have to go and make something. You just need to be organised which you obviously are 😘💜
Multiple people have now told me I'm organised... which is making my look at myself in a different light haha. I also love having my art desk in a space I inhabit often, just looking at it makes me happy and feel like it's all full of potential.
Loved watching this. I have a corner in the bedroom too but I’ve created so much more since having it. I have to battle with the choir he’s airer a lot of the time and could do with more space to dry pieces but so much better than just the sofa!
Definitely so much better than the sofa or kitchen table or anything like that! I hear you about wishing for more drying space. So glad you enjoyed this video Leanne =)
Yay I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I don't remember where I bought my easel, but the brand is Mabef. I'm really happy with it, it's sturdy and great quality, HOWEVER putting it together made me want to cry lol.
I am an example of too much space. I have so many supplies for art journaling, scrapbooking, mixed media, fabrics and ribbons, etc that I become overwhelmed and don't do the art as often as I would like to. I am a creative shopaholic at heart. But I am trying to overcome that!!!
Yeah I can imagine that is super overwhelming!! I tend to just put the things I don't use away, as you saw! I'd love more space so I can have a few dedicated areas. Desk for art journaling, easel, desk for computer, maybe another separate desk for filming, a sewing desk... I need a HUGE studio really haha. Hmm I wonder how my family would feel about getting rid of the living room 😂😂😂
@@iris-impressions-art I knew a lady who turned her living room into her Creative Memories office/studio. Maybe you could set up your zones in the living room as long as you keep a TV zone?
Carolyn, I have the same problem! I tend to horde things I think will be useful and buy supplies I think will make me a great artist. We moved about a year ago, and all this has been consolidated into one room. What a shock it was to see it in one place. It's horrifying really and it overwhelms me. Is there a specific desk from ikea?!
My art desk is a dining room table from IKEA. It's nothing special, just a sturdy cheap table.
