I keep wondering at the design of the 'cabins' people put on these boats. They all seem to have a large vertical mostly flat frontal area. Is this not detrimental to windward performance at all? Why not streamline it a bit in keeping with hydro/aero dynamic 'realities' met at sea? What am I missing in this. I have a 39ft monohull and don't know much about catamarans (I am a wannabe).... Cheers
yes, that can be a problem. the motors are long shaft so the props are a fair bit below the calm waterline. maybe 40cm's. overall not too bad. occasionally the props come out of the water when we motor in choppy seas, it doesn't seem to do them any harm.
It's a wooden mast. I'm not exactly sure what type of wood. According to the boat builder it's a kind of western red cedar (light and some flexibility). The mast is a special build which probably only a professional boat builder could pull off: at the ends the mast has a diameter of 140mm per plan but towards the middle the mast thickens to app. 160mm. Very difficult to build but it makes the mast a little stiffer. The masts lengths is app. 0.5m longer than the plans prescribe
what do you mean by outer helm? The Tiki 38 has wheel steering via a rope system. I have turned the deck house around so there's protection and more recently added a bimini and a canvas enclosure for grotty wheather.
SoloSail Boat Oh Dear, sorry to hear that. You should not reveil your strange sickness. Probably paintremover would help you to get rid of this rare condition.🤤🤣
Another great masterpiece built by Seascape. I like the modifications on Bontekoe. Now the only thing you must learn is to trim the sails.
Well planned and well built beautiful sailboat
Very nice boat!
How tall of a person can stand up straight in the 38s hulls?
I’m 180cm and I can stand straight and have a bit of head room.
@@ThorstenSchulte thanks for the info. I need 73", about 185.5cm. This is one of the issues that had me wavering between the 38 and 46.
I wonder if I can lower the bilge top 6 cm....?

The warram catamaran usually have flat frontal where the other types like Neil have slipstream designs
I'd love to have a Wharram.
Saw her moored up in Yamba last week! Are you still sailing her?
Yes we were in Yamba last week. I’m just taking her back to Brisbane.
Beautiful boat! I built a wayfarer 21 last year. Love the Wharrams. Enjoy the sailing! ⛵️
Amazing
Do the engines cavitate, in heavy weather?

looks like you got the camera set to macro
Do you have a wood or aluminum mast and how tall is it?

Do you have an outer helm ? Wharrams= being out in it

You answered the ?, spot on. Thanks
Nice boat. Do let me know if you want to sell her!
needs trampolines up at the bow
Can you make it more blurry? Get some Vaseline and smear on lens. Helps tremendously.
