Good on you, Military Bands Everywhere, for documenting the rehearsal! Judging from the descriptions, it's going to be quite the public Anglo-French diplomatic event. I see the GSM is out and about, assessing standards and checking details. The Band of the Grenadier Guards' playlist sounds superb. Lovely choice of music. This rehearsal raises curiosity about the practice session that must be taking place in Paris for the reciprocal event with No.7 Company Coldstream Guards, but the London rehearsal is an unexpected and highly satisfying treat all on its own. Thanks!

Well said Vicky, lovely to be able to see the different style of marching and uniforms for example. I had a little smile to myself at the end; the French marched smartly into the barracks and the British ‘boomed’ through the gates, loved it.😅

Great music by the Band with terrific military marches and interesting music played for the inspections

It’s actually to celebrate the Entente Cordiale which is the Franco British alliance throughout WW1 and WW2. First made back in 1904
All thanks to these iconic gentlemen Winston Churchill🇬🇧and Charles de Gaulles🇲🇫 that they have managed to find an agreement by joining forces

@@christophermichaelclarence6003 ... is that the same Charles de Gaulle that hated Great Britain and kept refusing our membership of the EEC ?
(Unfortunately for Great Britain, we were finally allowed to join the EEC (EU) with lies and deceit from our own side, namely one Edward Heath) !

A very interesting and enjoyable video, thank you for sharing it. Mondays event looks to be quite an event and I’m keeping my fingers crossed you video and share that too. SDM Chambers has been extremely busy today, starting off for the guard change in Windsor then zooming back here, quick change of uniform, and back out for this rehearsal. He deserves his Guinness today!
Can anybody lipread what the few choice words at 3:40 were? Hard to imagine the officers couldn’t hear the band fast approaching them and also fail to realise they may be in the way😬

@vickyRoyalHistory hi Vicky, your now only 11 hours ahead! Thanks for your reply. Well, he’s had a very busy day today as well. Starting off in State Dress for the Major General’s review, with all that entails. Then off with that uniform and into another for yet more rehearsals with the French for tomorrows event! They seem to have marched in and out of the palace loads of times, so many that I’m getting dizzy!
Point to ponder. How long do you reckon it takes to don the State Dress with all its layers and additional paraphernalia?🤔
“Conversations” on TH-cam are sometimes hard to keep up with because I can’t remember sometimes where the “conversation” is, or at least started! Then there’s the times you’ve written something and it’s disappeared, vaporised, vanished or whatever. I know I wrote and sent a reply to Hazel yesterday and PFF, it’s gone, nowhere to be seen!

    • @MilitaryBandsEverywhere
      @MilitaryBandsEverywhere  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

@AnnofWales21 There has been no Major General’s review today or further rehearsals for the EC120 event at the palace tommorow with the French. The only rehearsals were yesterday afternoon where they entered and re entered the palace twice for practice.

@@MilitaryBandsEverywhere I’ve been watching too much TH-cam then🤭 The Ammo Boots And Hooves channel posted videos today and I erroneously thought they were records of today’s events. I think there were repeated sections in some of the videos which was why I mentioned I got dizzy watching them! Thanks for the correction and clarifications. Out of interest when did the Major Generals Review actually take place then?
I hope you are able to video tomorrow’s event and that the weather is favourable. Thanks again👍

    • @AnnofWales21

@vickyRoyalHistoryhi Vicky, thanks for the explanations. Believe or not I am beginning to take things on board but keep them coming as I feel only at the tip of the iceberg😉 As you may have read in earlier comment from MBE my comment about a Review in another video was incorrect. However in my defence, as a novice, the video I had watched was titled “Irish Guards in Red Tunics pass inspection in the Review by Major General Chris Ghika CBE”, it was posted yesterday by Ammo Boots and Hooves with no advice that it was not actually filmed yesterday so I thought it had been. Hence confusion about titles entailing reviews and whatnot. I’ve actually got tickets for “Trooping The Colour Reviewed by Major General J M H Bowder OBE” so I knew they were two different types of occasion. Anyway, off to watch todays offerings now😎 Thanks again Vicki 👍

The SD of Music HD should go out on a limb at the Trooping the Colour this year and play the slow march "L'entente Cordiale" for the slow troop as it was indeed played for the slow troop in 1904. It is a rare and, in my opinion, a great march. Don't worry boys and girls, we can go back to Les Huguenots again the following year, dry your eyes.

En tant que Français, je suis très surpris de voir un détachement de la garde républicaine Française à une relève de la garde du roi d'Angleterre ! l'histoire de France rend cet évènement étonnant ! Est-ce déjà arrivé ?

    • @MilitaryBandsEverywhere

The main event is on Monday. The French republican guard will not actually guard the palace. This is a ceremony simply following the format of a guard change but also taking on the role of a ceremonial guard of honour held at the palace. A true display of friendship and unity between France and the UK.

@vickyRoyalHistory The Romans named the whole island Britain but that ended about 410 AD. Wales was absorbed as a Principality of the English Crown in the fourteenth century but the name Britain was not revived until the Union of the Scottish and English Crowns in 1603. In 1801, the Crown of Ireland (not just the northern bit) was added to form the UK of GB and I.
