Good morning Fred and the B1M Team - what about the transition from construction to asset management, what do you recommend for motivating property owners and managers to invest in BIM? An example video would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I'm just about to start a QS course at Uni and currently in a engineering role. Is there a way i can get hold of some software to use on my mac to get going and gain some proficiency, preferably with some trail projects to work through to learn from problems and task deveopment? Help!
Great introduction. I am working for a construction company where we are now adopting / implementing BIM / Digital Engineering. I am in charge of this implemetation and would like to gather more information rgearding the implementation of BIM / DE
I found that management is resistance to the change . This industry is already making a lot of money old fashioned way . it is hard ( if not impossible ) to get budget approval .
+Alex Tohid It's one of the biggest challenges. Sorry for plugging more of our videos but "BIM Myths Dispelled" (th-cam.com/video/UV6x6mU4yWs/w-d-xo.html) and "Dear Construction Industry" (th-cam.com/video/EMDUH2A34sQ/w-d-xo.html) are both worth a watch for advice on this area.
the industry thinks that it is making a lot of money through the traditional approach... in fact they have not used the lean approach to discover the difference. Once they do they will never go back to the old way of doing it... However, BIM on its own will not yield the change in the way we are delivering projects. It will enhance but it will not be fruitful unless it is accompanied with a proper contract and a proper organization that promotes integrated governance. And here I'm talking about the IPD Approach. But the issue addressed in this video is very important because they barriers are also related to the barriers of implementing IPD in construction. Yet overcoming these hurdles is more complicated than it seems. And the suggested solutions are not enough.. depending on your country and industry.
