No this is not accurate and rather wrong. When you are replying to people, it will show you are online and typing. so those who check it, will know u are intentionally avoiding.

Nah, this doesn't work. When people send you a message, they can see the checkmark showing the message has arrived to the receiver. So they know, you are online based on the checkmark. Thankfully I use Android and I just set data usage to Forbidden completely so no messages will come in. And the message will never mark arrive from the sender. Making me completely offline. BUT not for IOS because IOS SUCKS. They don't even have the feature to completely make you offline UNLESS if you completely turned off wifi/data or set to airplane mode. But once you back online, the message will arrive and they will know you are online even though you did not open the app. So the only way to do it on IOS is to either jailbreak you iphone and install a 3d party app to block the app from wifi/data access OR delete the app after each use so you will be completely offline from whatapp. I am sticking with Android. Makes life much easier and have more privacy.
