Shame that Catalysts (Seals/Staves) aren't treated the same as other weapons. Such as having access to Affinities and Ash of War variety. I wish FromSoft would finally get rid of the Staff Bonk attack and replace it with an FP-free Spell Attack that scaled 1:1 with its Sorcery Scaling. Lime the Carian Glintblade Staff getting a free Farron Flashsword instead of the pointless Bonk.
Discovering the Sword of Night and Flame on my first playthrough made me immediately switch to a Int-Faith build. Getting close to the end of the base game now, and it’s still very fun. Cool to see the potential of pure mage Int/Faith as well.
I really don't understand why they don't allow us to equip ashes of war to staffs or talismans. Glint stone sorcery ashes for staffs. fundamentalism ashes for talismans. There isn't really a reason to not allow it. You can just limit the affinities to basic iron whetstone stuff.
Never really considered it for much of my first playthrough, since I thought “that’s for Str/Fai builds, I’m not doing that, so it probably won’t be good.” Then I tried it against Mohg for a good source of physical damage and loved it. It stunlocks a bunch of the late-game knight enemies I used to really struggle with, like Cleanrot Knights and Banished Knights.
Awesome video! Just a thought but wouldnt the split int/faith seal give better scaling than the staff of beyond? you could then relocate 2 points to azur staff and use that with the golden order seal to switch between casting incants/ sorceries with better scaling
@nbmoleminer5051 I was just messing bro, with this specific set up it doesn’t matter whether you 1 or 2H as long as you cast with the Staff of great beyond. Offhand azur is there just for max Vdex and it doesn’t even need to meet the wpn requirements to get the boost
In case you guys didn’t know, late hit Carian Greatsword combos into Great Glintstone Shard or O, Flame!
Same goes for the greatsword into piercer for int mages, that combo constantly does around 1800 damage for level 100
Oh or a guaranteed one shot for level 500 lol
That parry to the double spear user was so... *SO* satisfying, great work as always.
@@darkunor6687 He definitely deserved it thanks man! 🙏
Carian greatsword also perfectly rollcatches into uncharged messmer orb, and fully charged furious blade (stats spread is a nightmare though)
@@GetBodiedSon CGS goated spell
Adding to this, Carian Greatsword into Carian Piercer is a true combo at max cast speed
Haven't seen a converted fringe tower gank in a long time. Good job on beating them lol.
@@pitshoster401 Thanks dude they can sometimes last forever! I just felt bad for the other co invader 😅
Great casting as always man
@@stevie31 Aye thanks stevie bro means a lot coming from a well respected elite mage! 🙏

Exactly, it’s not like there’s no precedent for that sort of thing either. Let me do a Cipher Pata attack with my Golden Order Seal.

Remember if you want to run 80 faith 80 int the Prince of death staff out damages lusats by a lot. 430 spell buff while lusats is 413

@@humanratteler9760 Yup on late hit!
