  • Paul Leddington Wright wrote this hymn tune based voluntary for inclusion in the 'Oxford Hymn Settings for Organists'. This one is in Volume 4: Easter and Ascension and is based upon the tune Guiting Power usually sung to the words 'Christ Triumphant' which is also suitable for Christ the King.
Performed on the organ of Carlisle Cathedral

A lovely arrangement played so well on the Willis organ. Thank you Edward.

Unmistakably Paul. This evokes so many memories of singing Paul’s compositions under his direction at Coventry Cathedral, including a recording of “Christ Triumphant” for the CD Easter Alleluias. Thank you for recording this Ed.

Well, that's a fun arrangement, for sure! I used to fight with this hymn tune to get it "right".....but this rework is superb.
    Thanks, as usual, great playing.

Thanks John. It is rather slushy in places which is great! Clever too...
