- We race the brand new 2020 McLaren GT vs my 2016 Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 down the 1/4 mile. It's 4 heads up races with me driving the McLaren GT and Jimmy driving my Huracan. Also included at the end of the video are full VBOX and DRAGY stats for both cars.

This is the only channel that I actually believe the drag races that happen bc you and whoever you get to race the other car are actually at a competitive level where it’s a great race especially when 2 cars like these are so even in performance.

Shawn S Carwow is the worst.. all they show is 1/4mile times which mean nothing on a terrible runway surface. A AWD car going 10.5@130mph and a RWD 10.5@145mph are massively different, and all carwow will show is the 10.5 for each car then say they’re the same ect. They have millions of followers it’s pretty sad that they can’t even show 60-130mph times or anything like that

Damn! How does McLaren do it? This car is focused on long distance cruising in comfort, more so than performance. Yet, it will destroy about 75% of supercars on the market, in terms of straight line acceleration.

Not true! People only say so because McLaren supercars are capable of outperforming rivals with similar or even more power. And some go according to the WHP figures McLaren supercars put down, based upon dyno testings. So, to them, McLaren must be lying about its HP figures. But the science behind McLaren's awesome design and engineering would explain why the company's supercars are on another level. The fact that McLaren uses carbon fiber tub, especally it's "monocage 2," by itself offers the company an advantage over rivals. And when you add a 600-700hp engine in such light-weight, rigid and aerodynamic body structure, it works wonders. I mean, just look at the Ford GT. It's acceleration and Top Speed (216 mph) is amazing. Even a Ferrari 488 GTB with slightly more hp loses to the Ford GT at higher speeds. And the GT's Top Speed is rated even higher than that of the McLaren 675LT, 720s, Porsche 911GT2 RS and Ferrari 488 Pista. Now sure, I have seen the 911GT2 RS and 720s go beyond their rated Top Speed of 212 mph. And speaking of the 911GT2 RS and 488 Pista. Those cars feature similar amounts of hp as the 720s, but kick off the line quicker (perhaps because of stickier tires). It is only at higher speeds that the 720s beats them both. And it's not difficult to see why that is the case, when you look at the 720s' design and understand how it manages airflow through its "eyes sockets," as well as through the ducts forming the "dual-layer doors," which helps to keep the car firmly planted at high speeds.
@@TheTmat007 I love your response! And you're right on most points I believe. No doubt they are engineered to the limit. (With McLaren at the cost of reliability in many cases unfortunately) however regarding quoted horse power figures there is lots of data out there to suggest actual numbers are much higher than advertised. I'm talking dyno pulls by very reputable sources. Including drag times. Check them out! 😊
Howie Kearney the reliability problem was solved after the MP12, they are now more reliable than their Italian competitors. I know a reasonable number of 720’s that are hard driven with track days with very few to no issues. Looks at Brooks car for instance hundreds (low thousands?) of hard lunches with no issues or the ring cars that have been driven very hard on the track for over 25k miles with no issues. So to summarise the MP12 had a awful reliability record and everything since significantly better.

power wise yes, but dont discount all the other advancements that mclaren have made, like better suspension, brakes, etc. its a way better car, and probably faster even though the numbers line up

Congrats Brooks , you beat my R8 record which was 10.38 @131mph with 1.52 60' . This method of LC works better then regular LC when the car sits on LC for few seconds on R8/Huracan

@@seanmiller6979 catback exhaust doesn't gain any power on these cars , it's just to make it louder . Factory tires were gone so they were replaced with R888R. Brooks runs R888R on his Huracan too

How you finding it? Im looking for owners who do at least 10k miles a year in their mclarens. Tempted by GT but may just go for an I8.
Holy shit you really get a sense of the speed when the Lambo missed a shift on the 3rd run and we get the Mclaren point of view of it pulling away.
FuelAaron Lembo still ran 18 seconds which is probably faster than some cars going all out.

It's really impressive to see such a good 0-60 from the lambo but the faster quarter mile time of the mcl Gt shows that if this race would have been longer the mclaren would have destroyed the lambo

Brooks- Would love to hear your opinions of the GT.... did it run as strong as you had anticipated? Do you feel like it has a lot of tuning potential like other Mclarens or are those smaller turbos going to limit it?
ran better than I expected, there is at least a 100HP with tune.... but eventually the turbos will run out of steam...
McLaren GT official 1/4 Mile time: 11 seconds
0-60: 3.1 seconds
But DragTimes come out with 0-60: 2.84 seconds 1/4 Mile: 10.36 seconds That's quicker than McLaren 600LT official time.

DragTimes uses draggy which is not as accurate as a 5th wheel used by the magazines or test drivers.
And they way over prep the track when Brooks calls. I know that from someone that works there at the PBIR.
I just love how a luxury 620hp luxury mclaren would kick the ass of a 755hp zr1 or a 797 hp redeye

Theres a few other vids on his channel, his newest 1 is him with a GM air intake and drag radials with the rear wing removed. He got a 9.6 and 9.8

Good victory for Lamborghini against the new McLaren GT. The 610 holds about a 3/10 advantage at the 60 ft, 330 and 8th mile Mark culminating with a quarter-mile victory of about two-tenths of a second over the McLaren GT. Good victory 4 Lamborghini. Good race against a turbocharged, lightweight McLaren. It's not the Lamborghini driver's fault that the McLaren GT can't build boost when it's staging , that's the McLaren GT drivers problem to overcome.
The MCL was 10.36 vs Huracan 10.37 1/4 - it took the win at the end and was accelerating....crazy

this is like i have said for years, the real deal. Brooks does not shy away from racing anyone. and he can drive. i always tell others on other sites what he has done, so they to can enjoy the best racing channel. that Huracan is beyond gorgeous Brooks. the GT while quick, does not look good at all. no comparison to that world beater of yours, the 720S.

I like the long distance catch up game myself. They should do more 1 mile racing as quarter mile is still good but the way the cars are engineered now we need to see all racing scenarios of each car. Myself I used to be the quarter mile guy. Now I’m into roll racing as it shows the faster car. I’m a highway racer guy not a light to light racer in town. Both awesome fun cars. Lambo for Intown let’s destroy and Mclaren let’s hit the highway do a good top end race.
Like i've said previously cool air equating to below sea level DA combined with no wheelspin 1.53 60 foot was gonna result in a likely 10.3 pass. Well done...

2nd race was more like a real life scenario where both cars are already moving and this makes it obvious that the GT is a rocket past the initial wheelspin.

I don't understand the drag strip tree. Both cars moved while the yellow light was still on in the first race. How is that not a red light?

Dude it all depends upon the driver. Brooks is insanely good at launching cars. Not only he set a new stock record for huracan but also the 720s.

His Huracán has Toyo R888 tires, so it’s not the stock tires that other drivers may have. It gives better grip

The reason they haven't is because its track focused , rwd is better than awd for track racing. So its insane how the cars grip for drag racing
Mclaren say its not as pure as rwd. The same goes for electronic steering compared to the heavier hydraulic steering because they say hydraulic is better for feel.

Stock tires for the McLaren vs Toyo R888 tires for the Lamborghini (not stock/factory tires)
j n21t4 whilst the R888 is road legal, it’s also probably the best (road) tire for the strip and the GT would certainly run faster on them.

It's crazy how 10-15 years ago 600hp cars were running mid- high 11s for the most part. Now these similar hp cars are a full second quicker. It's insane but then it begs the question, are hp numbers really being underrated?
No , better transmission gearing [ more gears ] these days so cars stay in power way better then they did years ago
No, it’s the double clutch system that not only has seamless shifting but also have pretty effective launch control systems.
The huracan has a 5.2 NA engine doing already 610hp, there’a not much more you can take out of it, it’s well over 100hp per liter which is pretty impressive already
