I can see my next noodling session with my partner. "Why did you put aside that Landcare coin? You have a lot of them!" If I then answer, "Because that's the year Matt Thompson was born," she's going to give me a very quizzical look indeed! This was a great idea for a video: coins you can still find in change. Definitely, every changeover coin is a little special, and a lovely design. Thanks for the video!
Great video matt, I really love the changeover coin as it was the first coin i ever collected and put aside. Conveniently enough pre decimal coins are now my all time favourite to collect:)
I love the Roos....Love the design on the second and the third is cool! I have only seen the roos and think that is my favorite of the three! I did a coin recently that was a first day of issue of a coin and stamp....Right down your ally!
I remember when they first started antiqued coins and I still get excited with each new release in that style, it's such a unique and impressive finish for coins! ☺️ Thanks for watching!
Great video mate me personally I’d love the changeover $1 I’ve got a few $2 coins but none of the others . Yes it was another great informative one I like these keep them coming.
My favourite is my gorgeous 2004 RAM .999 silver coin from the 2004 year set. Weighing a whopping 31.64 g with a Diameter of 40 mm and a thickness of 3mm it never fails to impress my friends! I only paid AU$50.00 for it a couple years ago off eBay. It's MASSIVE! Cheers.
I have 3 of the same 1oz silver bullion mob of roos with 3 different mint marks one of which has a low mint of 5000 mine are from 2019 funnily enough I just brought them from Matt at Thompsons coins about a week ago, very beautiful coins and if I see any more from different years especially with different portraits I will definitely try to buy and add them to my collection
Ohhhh absolutely love those! I have some from the Easter Show in Sydney as well as the mintmark/privymark sets too. Any time there's an old coin reference I'm absolutely on board 🥳
Interesting picks for $1 coins. The good thing about the 1984 $1 coin is that we can still find them in top condition as I have found several of them that look like new. I'm guessing that's because there were so many minted and maybe they are still being released into circulation? The 2016 changeover is always a nice find with its low mintage, they are getting harder to find now days. I do noodle several hundred dollars worth of $1 coins weekly and I can say that I've only found less then 10 in the last 3 years. I always enjoy watching other TH-camrs top coin videos to see their opinions and I myself enjoy making top 5 coin videos. Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely, I needed change the other day when I was in Sydney and ended up with 2 mint rolls of 1984 $1 coins 🤣 All the best with your noodling journey! Thanks for watching ☺️
The change over $1 is great in design I got another one of them the other week in my change and was pretty stoked with that , my favourite one is the 1986 peace dollar as it was the year I was born in , you could do one of these on the 50 cent coins as there has been quite a few different ones over the years like the 2000 millennium coin which has the normal and the incuse variant.
Nice one!! The 50c will probably give me enough content for the next few years actually 🤣 this series is so far a lot of fun to make so I'll definitely do a lot more! Thanks for watching!
Based on the 2024 RAM annual report the 2021 MOR $1 coin is now the lowest issued $1 coin at only 160,000 issued. Three times rarer than the 2016 changeover. I have only found three of the 2021 coin in the past three years, with sales on eBay mainly coming from broken up sets and mint bags. Put some aside before they skyrocket in price!
Hey mate can you please tell me if you know whst I've got. I have a 1984 Mob of roos $1 coin that catches the eye straight away. It's immaculate with no scratches and looks newer or slightly different to every other gold coloured coin I have. My 2024 paralympic games $2 coins are in worse condition almost...... but whats strange is the AA mark on the large kangaroos pouch area ? I've tried finding something similar but nothing is like it. I have to get out my louve to see it but it looks as though it was done by the mint..... it looks nicer than most uncirculated & privy marked coins. Doesn't have a privy mark, but I've heard some coins accidentally get printed on uncirculated coins or limited edition but it still doesn't explain the AA mark .... Let me know if you'd like a photo of the coin in question . Is there something to fund all the strange coins like the gold coloured 25c coin I have . I also have old English/Japanese currency notes . Something called a hay note for 6 shillings ? It Says this note is only valid in the boundaries of internment camp 7. Looks as though australia was just as bad I'm the 1940s. Apparently the where meant to be destroyed . Is mine a copy ? It came in a book I bought second hand
I have noticed that too, I think the vast majority were distributed in bags rather than rolls which has led to many of them being riddled with small marks!
Well, if you're REALLY keen, there's the Swan dollar which was produced by the Australian Coin Review as part of a design competition for the dollar! Although I think you may struggle picking one up for under 2 grand 😱
The Commonwealth the coat of arms should keep all Elizebeth coins back. Cos she passed away already and well known queen whole this planet. If not keep the coin back , King Charles not gonna popular around this planet anymore

Great video matt, I really love the changeover coin as it was the first coin i ever collected and put aside. Conveniently enough pre decimal coins are now my all time favourite to collect:)
Thanks for watching! It was definitely one of the more exciting crossovers for collectors of both old and new coins! 😊😎
Thanks for that info Matt, always a pleasure watching your videos! :)
Thanks for watching Jenna!!

Thanks for watching John! Expect many more videos in the future! This series is already a lot of fun to make 🥳
You always do awesome stuff.👍🏻👍🏻 Well done Matt..
Thanks so much for the kind words! ☺️
I do like these coloured $1 and $2 coins. I also like the antiqued coins that Perth Mint release every couple of months which seem to be very popular.
I remember when they first started antiqued coins and I still get excited with each new release in that style, it's such a unique and impressive finish for coins! ☺️ Thanks for watching!
Happy 30th birthday to you Matt! That 2016 $1 changeover is so hard to find!
Thanks Ivan!!! ☺️
Happy Birthday Matt a BIG 30 we hope you are having a GREAT day. The 2016 Changeover Coin is going to be hard to beat as the lowest. cheers. Stephen.
Thanks for the kind words Stephen! It's nice to see that not only is it a low mintage, it's also such a great design! ☺️

My fav is 2022 mob of roos.being the last queen.scored pcgs off ebay..soon it'll be the old days.
The 2012 Wheat Sheath coin I love. I know it’s not circulating tender but I still like it.
Ohhhh absolutely love those! I have some from the Easter Show in Sydney as well as the mintmark/privymark sets too. Any time there's an old coin reference I'm absolutely on board 🥳
Longford Tas coin show coming up Matty, hope to see you there.
A Tassie show is actually extremely high up on my to-do list! When is it? 😍
I have a one dollar coin with a rams head like the old shillings is one of my favorites 😊
That style of coins makes for such a great link to the predecimal period! ☺️ Thanks for watching!

I reckon a 50c coin video would be great too
Thanks for watching Stephen! I am hoping to do all denominations eventually both old and new! 😄
I remember the jubilee coins coming out when I was a kid and I was fascinated by them
Landcare 1993 $1 coin also in my collection? Thomo
Anyone know if the 2024 mint sets will feature the QEII memorial obverse or KCIII?
Anyone? 😬👻
Gosh even the coin dealers are kept in the dark by the RAM 😂😂
I am 99% confident they will have the new portrait of Charles but, stranger things have happened at the mint 🤣🤣
@@ThompsonsCoins Thanks. I was beginning to wonder (and get nervous after buying up on 2023 mint sets)
Ive got 2 of them one 1984 and a 2006 coins
I find it hard to find the changeover in good condition. It seems to deteriorate quickly.
I have noticed that too, I think the vast majority were distributed in bags rather than rolls which has led to many of them being riddled with small marks!
