As Malaysian I can say Philippines is not an easy country to conquer for China here why. In April 22-23, 1951 at the Battle of Yultong during the Korean War a vastly outnumbered 1000 man battalion of the Philippine Army (part of the UN forces) fought and defeated a 15,000 strong division of the People’s Liberation Army. The Chinese ought to remember this and think twice before fighting the Filipinos again at the West Philippine Sea this time.

Filipino soldiers are passionate of their crafts, not forced individuals for compulsory endeavor. They chose to take part in duty to protect the country against conquerors, even just for meager salary. They had been prompted by the brutal imperialists that conquered the country for hundreds of years. As Malaysian I can say Philippines is not an easy country to conquer for China here why. Thick Jungle, Tight urban where big Tanks hard to navigate, Mountains of geography challenges and not to mention islands hopping where harassments by both insurgents, special forces and armed militia.
Although they can take few city around but almost 70% of filipinos owned firearms both legal and illegal poking their guns every windows of the house would make China scared to move in deeper inland.
For China, it is full blown Vietnam war 2.0 backed with USA military. The Philippines doesn't need a convention war where tanks vs tanks meet together in big field and fight. But using more hit & run tactics, guerilla warfare, harassment and psychological warfare make China military leave and unbearable to conquer.
the most recent war for Philippines were at battle of Marawi while China been shooting target practice and smoked by some low level African insurgents. When the Philippines sent their soldiers to be a part of NATO and they encountered some enemy fires, they never backed down and held their own. The Chinese on the other hand decided to run away when they were part of NATO with theit fancy equipments. This was the first international exposure they had and they got smoked badly.

Most of the volunteers in UKRAINE are Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan this are US Military special forces and from EU and other countries. Most of them are Dead by now or they went home because they dont know how react of being the one who is Hunted or being bombarded day and night they are not used to that. what more can the Philippine Military do.? When before you will see the enemy in close combat your position has been hit by artillery for several days plus missile and drones.
