    Gonna miss James and the knowledge he imparts....learned a lot so far. Today's was perfect timing, as I just had a friend ask about pedal width (Q factor).... Looking forward to the Barcelona vlogs, hope Chris makes an appearance too...👍

    I'm definitely guilty of making cosmetic adjustments to my bike; As soon as I started tweaking it all my 'serious' cycling mates
    cried 'SLAM THE STEM!' like it's a religion but what I've noticed is a gradual drop of the stem - allowing enough time for my body to get more flexible and adjust to the new position - is actually helping me. Good job because I hacked off the top of the steer tube now so no choice really!
    One thing I've found is the bike is a 58" frame with a 120" supplied stem and I often experiment with a smaller 100" stem. I can't decide if I prefer it or not but it certainly feels more solid in the saddle when I'm not stretched across the bike as much.
    I bumped into Cat on a commute last week and she told me I had completely the wrong end of the stick by putting on longer cranks to allow me to lower the saddle but it seems to work for me (though my toe brushes the front wheel at hard lock). What's the correct approach to this?

    As I understand the phrase "Q-factor" came about back in the 1800's and the comparison the guy made was to a duck walking and the width of the feet... the Q was for "quack"...

    Surely the main point about bike fits is that most people should realise they are not a pro cyclist! Getting aero to the nth degree does not mean you're going to get a UCI world team contract!
    Get a bike fit to a position in which you feel comfortable riding 50-60miles, if not more.

    I'm new here so I'm sure I've missed this question along the way. But where do you store your camera when you are riding and aren't filming? I want to ride with my Panasonic G7 but where to carry it is the struggle. Keep up the great work. Stumbled on your vlog a couple days ago and have been binge watching ever since. Entertaining, informative and great camera work and edits

    Q factor is a term banded around a lot in Hifi especially.speaker performance. Cuts.crank.width is worthy of discussion and not really offered up as a real world option sadly

    I have the top of my shoes pointing inwards towards the frame of the bike, that works for me, like I have internal rotation of the tibia, Is that unusual feet placement among cyclist??

    BikeFit question for James, I live in a really rural part of Canada and there are no bike fitters for a 5hour car ride in any direction, what would be your recommendation/is it worth it?

    well most pro riders use a size smaller frame and longer 13-15 cm stem so that can be a deceiving thing for amateur cyclist, I'm 178 cm have 56 size frame and a 10 cm stem, seems logical to me

    New to your channel and new to riding. Longest ride I have done is 40k and I find that I am getting a sore bottom. When I got my bike I didn't get a bike fit. I am also just using runners when going for my rides. Getting a bike fit or getting bike shoes which option would you suggest doing first? ATM due to finances I will only be able to do 1.

    do most bike shops expect you to buy the bike from them when having a bike fit from them? is it a d#*k move to buy online then go to a shop to get it fitted?

    • @Cade_Media

      +sam young not at all, but unless you know a bit about bike fit, you could end up buying something that doesn't fit to start with!

    I have a question if I go at the same speed with my roadie friends on a ride and only get dropped whenever a headwind comes is it because I haven't trained enough or is t because im using a mountain bike to go riding with my roadie mates
    I get his point about the stem issue as a mountain biker (aspiring to try road biking) the stem issue is like mouse sensitivity the longer the stem the lesser the sensitivity. Like even though I'm 185cm I like riding m cos the stemisshorter and gives me more versatility

    • @KenGoddard1723
      @KenGoddard1723 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you've got the typical 700 plus bars, there's your problem. I ride my adventure bike with my mountain bike friends and I leave them behind easily even without a headwind.

    What is a good price for a bike fit?

    • @Cade_Media
      @Cade_Media  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Joshua Thorne a lot of the time it's a case of you get what you pay for... However you could easily pay £250 for a bad bike fit if the fitter doesn't know what he's doing! I've put a link in the description of this video to the IBFI, it's a list of bike fitters who persue further education, choosing a fitter from there is a safe bet.
