The dress turned out amazing! It gives me sort of “royal casual” vibes 🤣 If you’d had enough fabric for the bishop sleeves, the dress would’ve looked similar to Duchess Catherine’s peach coloured dress I was hoping you’d make a mock up just because patternless sewing usually needs a few alterations. I also loved that the waistband lengthens your torso!
This dress is absolutely beautiful. It's a house dress, a shopping dress, a night-out dress. In different colors and fabrics, it could be a formal dress as well. This is probably the first time I've seen a dress tutorial online (and I watch a LOT of them for fun!) that actually made me want to make the dress. I'm almost done with my bootstrap dress form, and I bought some summer fabric from a recent quilting show. Now I know what I'm going to do with that fabric!
I think this is one of my favourite things I have ever seen you sew! Everything goes so perfect together, sleeves shape was a brilliant choice! And that trim as well, I was giggling a lot when you mentioned trim can hide some small imperfections, oh so true, been there, done that 🤣😅
I didn't think I'd be wild about the sleeves but I am OBSESSED with how they line up with the under bust lace- it keeps tricking my eye into thinking you're wearing a capelet and it's such a cool little optical illusion!
I think you look beautiful and the lace adds just enough contrast without being overwhelming. Your pattern drafting skills are better than mine. At 50 I am still learning how to draft my own patterns. Your videos are inspiring.
This is such a pretty dress! I do a lot of draping myself. Your video helped me get some ideas on how I should drape for my 1970's dress with caped sleeves. I can't wait to start sewing! Thank you!
I was thinking my sewing machine is obsolete but yours look vintage...? There goes my excuse for not trying! I've always admired people who are handy with a sewing machine. The dress is LOVERLY!!!
Congratulations!! You look amazing on it, it really fits you perfectly. With these videos you are always an inspiration to me, with your naturality. After I watch your videos I always want to try more things and dare to be more creative!
That style bodice is EXACTLY the same style my own mother used to make herself in the 1950' s ..she wore some very jazzy colours in bright patterned silks..lol.I.think that bodice would look gorgeous sleeveless & with a high waisted 1940' s style trousers attached or draped culottes to make an elegant trousersuit that just gets pulled up .
Loepsie! Your sewing has improved so much, I can see you are more confident with it! I was just thinking would you consider writing your own sewing book? Like you're own patterns and tips directions learning process etc I think it be fun
Love this one! The color and texture is lovely, and adding the lace accentuates the flattering shape of the waist, and creates an elegant line with the bottom of the sleeves. Kind of a hippie dress vibe with the long length.
Just the video I needed today. From you wearing your beautiful blouse you made, to you designing your own dress, and a quick shot of lego flowers for spring. Thank you.
Love this dress Lucy! one of your best yet. Minus the fabric I think k the cut is superb. As you said it is actually more cottage vibes but I feel it’s also really reminiscent of Marc Jacobs early 2000s collection which was incredible and highly coveted. It’s very beautiful and casual as is, but with a different fabric could be transformed to something more elegant if the the occasion arises. You’re such a natural you’re work is amazing for the time you’ve invested. 👏
The dress is perfection on you! I think the lace addition was spot on. The skirt fullness is perfect, and the butterfly sleeves were absolutely a great choice!
I really think this dress is beautiful and I actually like the lace accent more than I thought I would. Plus I love the color and think it's very flattering on you! Great job, Lucy!
I think it looks great. I had a very similar dress in the late 1970s. It was floor length sky blue with lace trim. The only difference was the neckline was square rather than a plunge. 💜
Yes! Very much reminds me of the pattern for my grade 8 graduation dress in the early 70s. Loved the Styles back then and happy to see them come back now.
ohh what a gorgeous jacquard! 😍 i just love those single-color jacquard weaves; one of my all-time favorite garments I've made for myself is an incredibly poofy skirt with a corset-style waistband, and I made it from a brown jacquard that I found at a local fabric mill shop. This dress turned out beautiful! I really like the waistband detail, with that pointed front. And I think those sleeves really worked great for it!
My goodness, this is hands down my favourite from everything you have sewn so far! The design is gorgeous and definitely something I would buy or make for myself (if I had the time...) 😁 I think the white lace gives it a little "spice" to make it special without being too much. It's simply perfect 🥰
love the dress, it look sooo amazing on you! as for the lace, I personally do not like it, but if you really want lace I think that a black or bordeaux colored lace would look better. congrats on this project - it is gorgeous!
Your dress turned out gorgeous!!! I must say when you said you were going to add the lace and holding it up, I didn't think it would look good at all. But when you cut to the finished dress I cannot picture it WITHOUT the lace! It compliments the shaping of the dress and your figure beautifully. Next up a Bridgerton 2 dress!!!!
Very cute! I would love to find that fabric in black. I'd probably make a similar-ish dress, but definitely slevless for my tastes abd comfort. I think the skirt is absolutely perfect.
Oh wow! I have a couple of things I made that need futzing in the bust area (crossover front) and think I might try it gathered instead because that is flattering af!
Love it!! I'm so proud of you on your sewing journey! It's been great watching you become more confident and now drafting a dress you LOVE. Color is beautiful, great design. Great job!
It's so becoming and fits you perfectly👍 A very feminine look! I'm intimidated by sewing. My husband can sew pretty well but I keep away from sewing machine. Maybe, should give it a go. A perfect dress is probably easier to sew than find in stores. Thanks for the video.
It turned out quite pretty! It is flattering on you. I kind of want to make something similar now. I'm also really obsessed with the gray pleated skirt in the first part of the video. Did you make it? If not can you tell me where it came from.
It is beauliful! 😍 I love the shape of the skirt and sleeves! I think i'll take inspiration to do a similar dress but with black velvet ribbon instead the lace !
LOVE this dress! I also love a peaked midriff. I think this is a really good example of not realizing how much you've grown/improved. You say you haven't actually done any sewing lately but you picked right back up like a champ and made something truly lovely! Also, and this may just be your presentation but you seem much more confident in your skills. Love to watch you grow! 💚 My only critique... Did you forget pockets?
Its so amazing.....the moment you said you want more floor lenght skirt I suddenly think why not make 1890s victorian walking skirt cause its just so amazing.. Plus bernadette banner has an amazing video about late victorian walking skirt.
This one was absolutely gorgeous, oh my! It suits perfectly! When I saw the thumbnail, I did think you used some other sort of accent instead of the lace (for some reason, it looks like that sort of fabric with little fabric balls, I think you know what I mean) but your choice of lace is lovely as well! If you make this in white with the long bell sleeves, you might have yourself a lovely Galadriel-inspired dress! Though a black, satin-y or silky version without the sleeves would also be gorgeous and make for a wonderful formal dress. The possibilities are endless with this pattern. Congratulations on this success!
I love this! At first when you mentioned the lace, I was skeptical but it turned out SO PERFECT! What a gorgeous accent to add to create that visual interest! Thank you for the pattern-drafting tutorial as well! I've only ever used commercial patterns and then added/altered for my own personal preferences. Seeing you draft your pattern makes me a little less scared of doing it myself; just need to pad out my dress form to my measurements. Thank you as always, Lucy! :) I hope the noise in your apartment is getting better!
Thank you! I really enjoy drafting, you just keep going until it fits the way you want, and with the right size dress form that usually happens fairly quickly 😄
I love how this dress came out, the fit is just *chef's kiss*. And I love that fabric, I made a dress and blouse out of it two years ago, in this same green, and have been meaning to buy it in other colours, 'cause that floral weave is just so fun! I have too much fabric in my stash to justify buying new stuff though XD
This dress is ADORABLE!!! I had/have a vintage black dress with a similar shape, but with forearm length sleeves…it was perfect. I feel that all the dress is missing is a little broach or cameo at the bodice point to anchor the overall dress, I hope it makes sense.
The dress turned out amazing! It gives me sort of “royal casual” vibes 🤣 If you’d had enough fabric for the bishop sleeves, the dress would’ve looked similar to Duchess Catherine’s peach coloured dress

Thank you! ☺ They'll never know 🤫
the talent here... literally in awe 🤩
The long sleeves would have been nice too, but those butterfly sleeves are absolute the right call. I LOVE them on this dress
Very 1930s shape, which IMHO is one of the MOST flattering cuts for the female body. LOVE! 😍
This is by far one of my favourites that you’ve sewn! Makes me want one just like it. 👀
I didn't think I'd be wild about the sleeves but I am OBSESSED with how they line up with the under bust lace- it keeps tricking my eye into thinking you're wearing a capelet and it's such a cool little optical illusion!
Great job! It almost looks like you're wearing a capelet from further away, with the lace on the sleeves and the bodice hitting at the same place 🥰
Beautiful dress. That pattern would look lovely on a floral cotton fabric too.
I think you look beautiful and the lace adds just enough contrast without being overwhelming. Your pattern drafting skills are better than mine. At 50 I am still learning how to draft my own patterns. Your videos are inspiring.

Thank you so much!
I love your sewing videos... I'm an avid sewist... and love to have sewing things going on in the background. You are doing amazing!!

What an amazing dress! I love all about it: the colour, the shape. It's awesmone and you look faboulous in it.
Oh that is so gorgeous. Like a garden princess. If I saw that dress in a store I would pick it up immediately
Love this one! The color and texture is lovely, and adding the lace accentuates the flattering shape of the waist, and creates an elegant line with the bottom of the sleeves. Kind of a hippie dress vibe with the long length.

I'm not surprised you adore it, it is a *beautiful* fit and the lace is the perfect finishing touch! Nicely done!
The dress is perfection on you! I think the lace addition was spot on. The skirt fullness is perfect, and the butterfly sleeves were absolutely a great choice!
It looks so good on you! Like a fairy tale maiden in the woods…. Love the lace!
I miss your sewing videos so much!! coming back to see the old ones at least :))
I like the dress! I'd like to see that dress in velvet minus lace. The style reminds me of Old Hollywood.
That fabric made me gasp when I saw the closeup!!! Stunning 💘 you are so very talented. Couture dress if I've ever seen one 😱 💙 love8
I'm obsessed with making dresses like that out of bedsheets.. that came out gorgeous 😀👍
I really think this dress is beautiful and I actually like the lace accent more than I thought I would. Plus I love the color and think it's very flattering on you! Great job, Lucy!
That’s so pretty and the lace gives it a fun vibe.
What a lovely dress! The sleeves are perfect for it.
I love your vintage sewing machine ; I have few of them myself, they are amazing
Another beautiful dress I love the color and the cottage core vibes
I think the lace looks nice! And up close it goes well with the lacey weave of the fabric.
This looks a lot like the Gunne Saxe dresses from the 70s/80s ... so cool!
This dress is EVERYTHING
ohh what a gorgeous jacquard! 😍 i just love those single-color jacquard weaves; one of my all-time favorite garments I've made for myself is an incredibly poofy skirt with a corset-style waistband, and I made it from a brown jacquard that I found at a local fabric mill shop.

This dress is so pretty! I love the lace trim.
Such a wonderful dress!!! I adore it so much, because it is also in my favourite colour. 😍
Green is the best 😄🌱
Love granny chic. Looks so late 60’s or 70’s.
My goodness, this is hands down my favourite from everything you have sewn so far! The design is gorgeous and definitely something I would buy or make for myself (if I had the time...) 😁 I think the white lace gives it a little "spice" to make it special without being too much. It's simply perfect 🥰
Nailed the design. Nailed the fit. And topped it off with the perfect name! Awesome work.
It's beautiful! I love it. I'm not comfortable yet to draft the dress myself, but seeing you, maybe I will try. 🌼 Love your videos!
What a beautiful dress, Alice! Well done!
Wonderful.
Looks more draping then drafting, excellent result!
It definitely is a super flattering cut! Super cool!
This turned out so lovely! I love the fullness of the skirt, I feel like it flows well and gives you a great shape
love the dress, it look sooo amazing on you! as for the lace, I personally do not like it, but if you really want lace I think that a black or bordeaux colored lace would look better. congrats on this project - it is gorgeous!
looks like a gunne sax, I love it with the lace trim!
Best fitting on you in your the sewing projects ....Love it..
Wow. That is an AMAZING dress. Just... Wow
That dress is SO pretty. YAY!!
Amazing!! Perfect example of draping, having fun sewing & making a beautiful dress 🥰👍
Looks fabulous! I am in awe of your drafting skills 👏
So impressed by this! Watching you grow and improve in your sewing skills has been really inspirational.
I love that you use candles as pattern weights! I use ceramic coasters lol. The dress came out so nicely!
I love this dress so much I’m gonna try making one using your tutorial. Well done 👍👍👍👍
It looks so good! The lace does make your figure pop!
Great job!
Definitely a W. Nicely done! Very cute.
It's so becoming and fits you perfectly👍 A very feminine look!
I'm intimidated by sewing. My husband can sew pretty well but I keep away from sewing machine. Maybe, should give it a go. A perfect dress is probably easier to sew than find in stores. Thanks for the video.
OH it turned out GORGEOUS!!
It turned out quite pretty! It is flattering on you. I kind of want to make something similar now.
I'm also really obsessed with the gray pleated skirt in the first part of the video. Did you make it? If not can you tell me where it came from.
Thank you! The lilac skirt is from Linennaive 😊
It is beauliful! 😍 I love the shape of the skirt and sleeves! I think i'll take inspiration to do a similar dress but with black velvet ribbon instead the lace !

My only critique... Did you forget pockets?
I would put on dark red or copper/rust-red trim or lace.
The dress looks amazing!
The dress is fabulous. But your hair is also looking really great is this video too!
I wasn't super sure about the lace either, but then you put the dress on and it looks sooo cute!
Oh my 😍😍😍I love it the Green Dress 💚💚💚
Its so amazing.....the moment you said you want more floor lenght skirt I suddenly think why not make 1890s victorian walking skirt cause its just so amazing..
Plus bernadette banner has an amazing video about late victorian walking skirt.
It turned out beautifully!
I love it! Love the fabric, color and style of the dress so much. You are very talented. 😍
Wow, beautiful! It reminds me of the dresses from the beautiful girls in Asterix and Obelix comics.
Very nice work 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Love the dress and the energy of this video! 💞
Hi, such a pretty dress, and I like the lace detail, green isn't a good colour for me but looks fabulous on you.💖
What a lovely dress. Im at the finsihing stage of my own wedding dress and even though i started that back in 2019 so many style elements are the same
getting it pinned like that at 16:17 i like the ruffles.
It’s looks so pretty & you look ethereal
the lace makes it very Gunne Sux!! its stunning!
It turned out amazing.
Love the fabric, color and lace. Looks great on you! 😍
You look absolutely gorgeous in that!
I love how this dress came out, the fit is just *chef's kiss*. And I love that fabric, I made a dress and blouse out of it two years ago, in this same green, and have been meaning to buy it in other colours, 'cause that floral weave is just so fun! my favourite dress that you have made!
That is old school stuff amazing
This is beautiful! You have such a talent. I adore this dress!
That turned out so beautifully! I love it! Well done!!
So creative and talented
I absolutely love it and think that the lace is perfect!!!!
So proud
This dress is ADORABLE!!! I had/have a vintage black dress with a similar shape, but with forearm length sleeves…it was perfect. I feel that all the dress is missing is a little broach or cameo at the bodice point to anchor the overall dress, I hope it makes sense.
