I lived in Warner Robins growing up I went to elementary, Junior High and some High School with Mike Causey always was a great guy my family moverd to Memphis and in the late 70's and early 80's when they came to Memphis to play I would go see them and Mike would put me on guest list and invite me back stage to visit the band great times.

It never ceases to amaze me how I can never have heard of a guy like this (though I remember the band) when there are guys who I don't think could do what I just watched and yet are widely known as guitar heroes.

Causey has always been one of the great unknowns. He and my guitar player. Flip Jones were incredible. My brother saw this vid and was reminded of seeing me on Bass with Mike Causey and Flip. I think the drummer was JC Cruz. Stillwater was full of talented, motivated and serious guys. They made a coupld of records and then were whacked by disco. There was then and still is now a ton of musicall talent in the Macon/Middle Georgia area.
Mike Causey now plays with a cover band called Grapevine. He gets a couple of 4 bar solos. It pays well though. Great guy.

This band were a massive influence on me picking up a guitar up for the first time. Fast forward a few years and I was in a band who covered Mind Bender .That track was on their first album as well as this one. I only have 2 albums on vinyl in my possession ,this one and the second album ( I reserve the right ). Simply cannot part with them.
I’m my book Stillwater along with The Outlaws were the pinnacle of southern rock. Thank you Stillwater I owe you !!!!!

It is indeed Mike Causey on the guitar solo. This was recorded live at Uncle Sams nightlcub in Macon, GA after one of the Capricorn Records picnics. The BBC plugged their Niagra tape deck into the FOH soundboard and filmed a long great night of Southern Rock jamming.

One of the absolute BEST bands I EVER saw live. They opened for Foreigner. After Foreigner played their first song, the whole auditorium began chanting for Stillwater to come back... Many years later, privileged to meet Rob Walker after I joined the Army and he the Air Force. These guys deserved so MUCH more...
