what i do is boil 3 cups of sugar in one cup of water, making sure all the sugar is dissolved, turn off heat when it starts wanting to boil. let cool. pour into a glass jar. wet a stick and roll in sugar. place stick in the jar. next day switch the liquid and stick to a new jar. clean the previous jar. do this for 7 days
