I do not understand much of what is going on here, but the American version of this show taped their first season of shows on this set in 2002 for GSN, an all game channel. They started taping in America the following year, and they would continue making new episodes until 2007.

I'm really love the fact that season 1 of the American version of Lingo with Chuck Woolery was recorded in my country (The Netherlands).

Well, the original Dutch version of Lingo was based on the American show that aired in 1987 if I remember it right. It ran for 1 season at that time with the rights then being bought by a Dutch guy. The show ran for 25 consecutive years. After a 5 year break, it returned in 2019, but then on a commercial channel, where it used to be broadcast on public service.
It's funny to see that besides some minor differences, the original 1987 show from the USA showed great resemblence to the Dutch version.

@@weeardguy I've seen a few episodes of the 1987 version, and despite it being made for American audiences, it was taped in Vancouver. The CanCon rules for TV probably had something to do with a co-host being on camera.

@@bluebear1985 Ah, wait, now the on-screen ad from the episode I saw on TH-cam makes sense about saying something like 'if you're in BC, rent ABC' or something (it was about a car-rental company called ABC) and Vancouver being in BC.... It was a bit hard to follow as I'm Dutch and just don't know all those states and cities and their accompanying abbreviations that I just didn't get the reference ;) . Thought I misheard BC for DC (being Washington D.C. but hell, what do I know about places with television studios in the USA and Canada, we basically only have 2 places with television studios in the Netherlands).
I read up on the CanCon rules (I just learned something here ;) ) and darn! I thought our Dutch Medialaw was strict! But the CanCon goes way beyond that if I refer to Wikipedia...
So the host could be American and thus a co-host had to be introduced as it had to be a Canadian co-host?
