    Hey Brad I actually managed to find a way in clip studio to get rid of the wobble on the pro 16,if you go into tablet settings select wintab,run on all monitor and operate while keeping aspect ratio of screen it seemed to fix all the problems,not even any wave while drawing with a ruler 😊

      I have the new 16 pro and I honestly never had the wobbly line problem, even with stabilization and smoothing all the way down. Any wobble I got was from my actual hand.

    I love watching your reviews ✨ I actually think that Artist 12 (2nd Gen) have a really nice pen feel! I used their Innovator 16 and their Artist 12 Pro but in my opinion, this tablet feels much better to draw on. I personally don't really see the wobble when I try the same lines on my Artist 12 2nd Gen.

    7:27 That illustration looks amazing! I love the review by the way. I myself have been on the hunt for a budget friendly display tablet and your review made it easier for me to decide. I don't think I'll have a problem with the pen wobble since I like to make quick strokes, so I'll definitely go for this one!

    I would definitely suggest that people looking at this tablet step up to the 13.3" Artist Pro instead. It's still well under $300 and it has none of the shortcomings seen here (it also comes with a stand, but it does benefit greatly from a screen protector too- so factor those into the price). To give some context, I use it to teach at a University- including a digital painting course where I literally demonstrate precise brush creation and use-case scenarios for hours straight. It works flawlessly. I honestly expected it to have shortcomings and it honestly does not. Angled lines are 100% jitter free. You can see it in action throughout my TH-cam videos.
    It also has the coveted "red dial," which has become one of my favorite little extra features on XP-Pen products. Anyway, just a heads up for people on the hunt!

      I think he did a review on that one i have been thinking about getting this or the one you suggest but then i think about "if they have a 2nd gen of this one they probably have one of these soon" or just another one in that price range
      So idk wether i should wait for the new one and see of they have improved their wobbly lines by then or if i should just say screw it and buy the 13.3

    • @SourPlanet
      @SourPlanet 3 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      @@Randomperson-lc4le I can only speak for myself. I'll put it this way: if mine slipped off the desk and broke right now, I'd have another ordered before I finish my coffee.
      Is a 2nd-gen coming? Eventually for sure. But the current gen is so close to flawless that I'd pick it up again, no regrets. I'm still shocked that I can get Wacom 24HD performance with a nicer screen in a form factor that I can toss in my backpack... for like $250. I paid more than 10x that much for a 24HD and spent half my time troubleshooting it.
      Is a good time to be a digital artist.

    • @SourPlanet
      @SourPlanet 3 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      @@Randomperson-lc4le I think it's possible for sure. I mentioned in my first response that it definitely benefits from a screen protector. I used Photodon, as they cut to order based on your precise measurements- and their protectors are military/medical/industrial grade. As a full time concept artist and part time teacher, I put some miles on this thing and don't want to risk it.
      I always put protectors on my devices, though. I trust a lot of the products but I don't trust my kid and his fork 🤣.

    XP Pen really stepping up the look of their newer stuff. These new ones definitely seem to feel and look premium built. Tho having replaced my old Artist 15.6 Pro's 3 in 1 cables way too much made me let out an audible "oh no" when the cable appeared in the video. I'd love if they do away with this proprietary 3 in 1 cables already. Otherwise, this new 12 inch is really looking great.

    I was waiting for you to review this and here it is! I have this tablet for about 4 weeks now and it's my first display and for the price, it's pretty good. I haven't experienced the wobbly line Brad did but I'm gonna double check now if mine does that too. For the screen, the size is perfect for me, not too small and not too big and the colors look nice too, I prefer to extend the display rather than duplicating because my laptop has a lower screen resolution that's why it looked pixelated when duplicated. As of now I haven't experienced any major issues. Feel free to ask any questions, I'll try my best to answer them :)) Great video btw Brad!

    I actually bought it a few days ago in sale for ~200€ and its amazing i thought the display could be too small but thats absolutly not the case. The size (at least for me) feels really nice!
    The colours are really good and i didnt have any problems at all with this Product.
    I am just a beginner and I think its perfect if you wanna start into digital art!
    Its not too expensive (its even on Chrismas-Sale atm) and feels much better then a non-display drawing tablet (which i tested short time before the Artist 12 2nd gen).
    If you wanna start in Digital Art I really recommend getting this device! I also recommend getting the Tablet Stand AC18 , if you wanna use it for a longer time bcs otherwise your neck will hurt after some time.
    Thx for your review Brad!

    I think the wobbly lines is a common problem when stepping up into high initial activation tech and xppen is facing it now and huion had it before. Initial activation won't matter to all artist, some noticed it, some doesn't need it as ive tried it to some artist i know personally.
    So FYI, if you draw lightly, this initial activation matters, like me. But if you draw heavily, older models will work for you coz so far, artist 15.6 pro stills works after 2.5yrs.
    Ill be waiting for x3 to improve more in the future coz i like the pen design.

I also have an Innovator 16 but this one is more portable and works better for me. I'm using Clip Studio Paint and don't seem to have the issue with waves while drawing e.t.c. I see that others already have suggested solutions to the problems mentioned in the video so I'd recommend trying out those. :)

    Hey everyone, I ended up getting this based on brad’s review and a few others’.
    After giving up on graphics tablets and displays almost a decade ago because of how terrible the value was, this is my first revisit to desktop drawing. I’ve been on iPad Pro since 2018 and was worried this XP pen wouldn’t meet my needs.
    It’s a little barebones, I don’t find the shortcut keys that useful, and the display take a while to wake.
    Otherwise though, this thing can capture some pen input! For the price, it fit my need well enough.
    Definitely missing a dial, mostly for scrolling or zooming. Coming from iPad (touch screen to zoom and scroll) it is not easy to get around large, intricate, files
    Anyway, I imagine anything you get will be able to draw fine, so pick based on size and macro buttons/dials. It’s fun to control your computer this way

    I just got mine and i've been having some decently serious issues. first off, the screen temperature is too warm, and won't let me get accurate colors, second the tablet dims everytime the pen comes near it its subtle but very annoying. lastly, i've had some issues with it keeping hold of the tool i'm using, for some reason, when i take my pen a bit away from the screen it switches to the eraser tool. I must say i'm dissapointed. i've had the Gen 1 for a few years now and it works beautifully, aside from an issue where it started flickering. but when it's not doing that its working flawlessly.
    i was hoping the GEN 2 was a step, and while it isnt flickering yet (got it yesterday) i'm thinking about returning it because the issues are just not conducive to workflow

      What makes a tablet good for tattoo artists? Like what's something you're looking for that differs from fine artists?

    • @MaleficVenRose
      @MaleficVenRose 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RamoArt I suppose in terms of outlining a design.
      Stenciling can be done by hand but thru layering and editing on a tablet, iit would be much more easier. Line volumes can be added with ease and printing it out to go thru a machine to stencil would make the design more clean.
      I know a lot of tattoo artist go for the iPad or any of its variants but I would like something more budget friendly but good pen latency on it too.
      And honestly, I'm thinking about either the book, Leias Lume pad or the S7 FE.

    wobble is certainly an issue, i use nothing but wacom and huion tablets; and this is beyond the norm. They both have wobble, but not this bad.
    Looks like a great tablet otherwise, algorithm change to the drivers should be able to smooth that issue.

Going from that pro 16 cintiq to a huion pro 20; couldn't tell a difference aside from the felt tip, pressure on both was excellent, very little wobble, no jitter. Huion supposedly has felt tips now, but i haven't seen them for sale in my region. The pro 16 was not a normal wacom, had more problems than usual and was replaced as a model by wacom fast, so don't let that bias you against wacom or for chinese tablets.

      @@anasevi9456 I have a pro 16 (old version) and the only issues I experienced were firmware. That got solved by Wacom support. Other than that I've never had fan issues or anything of the sort. The fan is silent on mine. It does get a bit warm on the lower right side but it doesn't really bother me, keeps me warm during the cold weather. XD I love that even with a protector, the nibs don't wear out, which was a big concern to me. It works as new and haven't had any issues since. Maybe a case per case basis? :o I do agree though that for the price, it shouldn't even have those little details.
      If this XP pen had touch, less jitter and was a tad bigger, I'd sell my Cintiq in a heartbeat. XD

      Also, one of the USB-C ports on it is wider than the other so this will only fit in one of the side ports.

    regarding the shortcut keys.... for us left handed folks, can one flip this around to so the buttons are on the right side, and the screen flips accordingly? I tried out an older screenless budget tablet that lacked that option of flipping the surface, and found since I diidn't have an option in software to flip stuff, or disable the buttons as a last resort, i had to tape a rigid piece of plastic over the buttons to stop my palm from switching all the time while drawing.... and that sucked cuz I really liked being able to use those.
