I bought a Bimmerfix stent about years ago and had it fitted to my 645ci and it was a life saver - absolutely brilliant product , the garage advised that I replaced the water pump at the same time and the result was a cooler running efficient engine.
Excellent work George, very tight space to work in! Don’t think I could get my hands in there! If you ever get bored with working on cars perhaps you could become a gynaecologist 🤣another great video M8.
How can anyone dislike video 25mins long when its uploaded just 5 minutes 😂😂😂😂😂. Great video mate...tbh when saw water pump change I remind when I did water pump on my xi version 🥴. Anyway another nice job done 👏👏 and see u in the next one 🤞👍
Good vid George. I'll be ordering that bimmerfix stent after reading its a better fix overall rather than chopping the old transfer pipe and installing the expandable one. Looks much more straightforward too.
Great video buddy, well detailed job. Looks terrifying at first, you took us through in step by step stages to make a decent DIY mechanic feel able to tackle this job. Wonder how much a garage would charge for this, let alone a stealership. Thanks for the upload. Vinny.
Thanks for this great video George. Might I suggest that you check carefully the hood release cables that run via the wing/fender cable connection point through the firewall into the footwell. The release handle mechanism can fail too. My cable snapped right at the handle so I was lucky and could open bonnet with a pair of pliers on the cable and once I was in I replaced front and rear cables and mechanism. I did not replace the one that connects both the latches together though because replacing the front cable that goes from the latch to the wing connection on its way to the cabin is a bitch as you have to remove the front bumper and headlamps to get at the latch mechanisms but we managed to do it on the one that connects to the pull cable without removing the bumper by cutting out the insulation material inside the latch mechanism and wiggling the latch around inside its housing. A lot of swearing goes hand in hand with this job. The problem is that when the cable snaps under the hood anywhere you are completely stuffed - some people even have to remove the hood attachments at the windscreen end and then lift it up at the windscreen end and then reach in with a power jig saw and cut the bonnet latch hooks attached to the front of the bonnet because they cannot get the hood to release by going in through the inner wing with brute force. Cheers - Mark
Great video George! I’ll be tackling this job in coming weeks, currently I’m working on replacing two injectors. Where do you get your torque specifications and if you know what the torque spec for the injector hold down and the lower intake manifolds? Thanks for the help! 👍🍻
@@GeorgeAusters I am also so looking forward to your video on this. I was lucky when my coil pack on cylinder 6 went out because that pack and plug was one of the few you can get to without removing the manifold. Just remove the firewall at back of engine (two bolts) and bingo, you can get to 6 and 12. my coil pack went out at the start of a 500 mile trip and I could not get a replacement until I arrived but I got away with just running on 11 cylinders for the whole way. Should not have done so but I did ...

Fantastic video mate, I have this to do on mine, just a question, the pipe goes in-between the 'V' is there a seal on the other end of the pipe? I've noticed antifreeze in the valley and seen the black pipe, just wondered if it has seals both ends of the pipe?
Many thanks George, Your videos are awesome and you have certainly given me the confidence to work on the engine and keep it maintained for many years to come. Thanks mate, your a legend 👌🏻👍🏻😉😁
Hey George, what kind of mpg are you getting around town and on the highway? Doing like 60-70 mph? My biggest worry are the fuel injectors since it is direct injection and in my country the fuel is pretty bad quality and usually they go wrong after some time.
George, I thought I was anal but replacing your fan, well even I did not go that far when I did this job recently (with a little help from a guy who did not mind getting dirty for 5 quid an hour). Removing fan with fan cowl at same time is very easy and worth doing to improve access and reducing scratches on your arm). I put a longer comment on your other video about changing belts and tensioners. As ever, thanks for your amazing and unique videos on the N73 engine.
Good video, George. Is there a special procedure for bleeding the cooling system after refilling it? Also, for those watching these videos on an iOS system, the latest update erased all my youtube subscriptions, so you may need to resubscribe.
that part has thick walls and it is narrowing water flow at least 20%. that is kinda a lot if you drive enthusiastically. for city driving is not a problem but what is the point of having that engine and than driving it like an old lady.
Fair play on servicing V12 on driveway. Not as scary as I thought especially fitting that coolant leak kit.
Glad to see someone still cares about this rare cars. Well done
Yep this will be getting everything it needs mate!

Definitely a better option👍🏻

Dear, You are great, nice video's. You helps me verry well white fix mine 520d from 2009 manuel. Thanx love from Amsterdam
Thank you
Well done, great work.

How does this compare to the AGA tools expanding pipe?
Thank for your videos George!!!

TOP! super video, TNKS George. Is this problem also common in E66 2005 restyling?
Yes in the N62 and N73 engine

I believe it does but doesn’t leak the same, best to contact bimmerfix about it👍🏻

What coolant/antifreeze did you use to refill the system?
I have a full video coming soon doing the coolant flush👍🏻
Nice work

"is currrently not suffering" then don't touch, becasue after that something will happen (from my experience, but different car :D )
Nah I’d rather know that it’s sorted and I think a future buyer would too

60-70mph should return around 30mpg
How do you remove those small coolant hoses going to the waterpump?
Pop the clip out and pull them off👍🏻
@@GeorgeAusters OMG literally scratches and skin peeling of my hands. From just replacing the whole coolant hoses on on the car.
When you did the Bimmerfix kit. Did you add the bottle of coolant conditioner?

Well worth replacing the fan clutch and fan wheel because the wheel gets brittle with time and can start breaking up

Sorry George. How do you understand when there is this problem?
You’ll be losing coolant
There was a minimum loss, a few drops in the front central area. Fortunately, they are months not happening. I'll investigate better ... thanks George
