  • Dragonfly Trimarans presents to you the third out of six chapters in the Dragonfly Sail Guide series. This time Jens and Peter wants to demonstrate how to trim and sail a Dragonfly while reaching.
In this video we will go through:
    0:32 Boomvang system
    3:08 Barberhaul headsail system
General for all Dragonfly Sail Guide videos is that we have tried to keep it relevant for all kinds of sailors no matter how skilled you are. Therefore, you will get basic knowledge and some in-depth explanations of how to trim and sail a Dragonfly.
And do not forget that we have tried to generalize as much as possible, so that these tips and tricks can be used on all Dragonfly Trimarans.
We hope that you will enjoy this third video in the Dragonfly Sail Guide series.

Thanks for more info. I would love to look over your shoulder while you sail. You could show us the instruments with wind angle and speed. Then I would look at the Genoa car placement on the track, barberhaul tension, boomvang tension and the shape of the sails. Just sail around with a go pro behind you and us viewers along to observe and learn.
PS The boom vang is also handy to hold the boom opposite the dock, for maximizing cockpit space and entry while in a marina.

Please use camera and look up the leech so we can see the angle of the battens at different wind angles

OK, can you then tack with those lines on the sheets?

Yes, i have both barberholer permanently installed. When going upwind they are just loose to have no effect on the sheets. But when too lose in strong wind the block may damage the gelcoat during the tack.
