PRODUCT REVIEW: The EVATAC "Free" Tactical Backpack

- Ok so I fell for The EVATAC "Free" Tactical Backpack ads that I kept getting and ordered one. Even though the pack was free they charged me $19.95 for shipping lol. I would not really call it a "tactical" backpack but it is still good enough to be a fairly good Bushcrafting rig. I will be putting it to the test this summer so stay tuned.....

I know you love your Alice. That's how I became a fan! I always learn a bunch from your videos. I really liked the one that showed how to secure Alice clips 'cause somehow, over the years, I think I've collected one hundred of them. Haha!
Oh, and, to 5'0" , your 5'8" is tall.
Skeeter,
BTW, you look great!
Stop taking advantage of people you said free
@@user-hv2nl3wy9h Me? If so I am not the one selling this thing, I just ordered it and reviewed it. Thanks for watching...
Another reason why I really love TH-cam. I, too, bought this for $19.95 shipping. The straps on it drive me crazy! I had to find out how to use these straps. I found your video, which is excellent. Thanks!
No problem. It is really not bad if you adjust it right...
so the add and backpack is real then.... i just got the add they want 15.00 bucks i was like ok but i dont like just giving my info away. trust no one. but if its legit i def do it for this. i use - need backpack just for work, nothing big.
@@user-xf1ur3hu4z It is totally legit, I did it and got one. I actually like the pack as it was just the size I was looking for. However the quality is not military grade so beware of that. But is it worth the price? Definitely...I think
Thanks for the overview. Looking forward to the update after you've had a chance to use it. Be safe out there!
Thanks, you too!
Hey FB,
I love your vids. Some of us are aging and some of us get illnesses that we have to modify our lifestyle for in order to keep going and keep having fun.
I appreciate that you continue to present options such as this. I, for one, am an Alice pack freak with a whole bunch of crap I've puchased over the years to attach and/or modify with anything Alice or Molly.
I'm a female Viet Nam era vet, 5'0", and broke. $20.00 isn't bad for something I can work with. Because, of course over the years, we've all learned how to MacGyver just about anything.
Keep on keeping on,
Skeeter,
North Carolina
Very awesome. You know that I love my ALICE stuff also and most of the attachment points will fit either a MOLLE bag or ALICE clips perfectly. I have some ideas also....
👍👍👍 I got one of those for Christmas from my niece and it's ok and functions good! I made my bag into a 10'c survival kit and it weighs about 8 pounds. I keep mine in my truck behind my seat with my 5'c havesack with EDC kit! keep up the good work brother!
That's a great idea for a bag like that. A ten c's bag. Thanks. I hope you don't mind if I borrow that idea.
Skeeter
Right on! We will see how it holds up to woods use...
Thanks for sharing this information. I get those emails all the time as well. Lol
I haven’t gone for anything yet. But I may now. Thanks Matt
Its really not a bad pack, but it is NOT a tactical pack. Only time will tell if it will hold up...
Nice review ! 👍
Glad you liked it
Not a bad looking pack really.
At least it wasn't expensive. Thanks for the video brother
No problem 👍. If it holds up it could be just what I have been looking for...
Hey, thanks for the review, after watching your other vids you are coming from the spot of can this work?, Improvise, adapt & enjoy the adventure.
Hopefully some round things will fit
Not a good tasty adventure without some Crystal.
And remember extra rounds are in a rectangle box 🤠
Yes, absolutely! It is just too hot to cook anything and use hot sauce but I have a few ideas.
Your success with gear like this is directly related to what you are trying to achieve with it. Duh, right? I’m in your camp on this. It is a usable bag. The price is right. Nuff said. Thanks for sharing options with us. 👍
You are correct. If you try to use it for too much it will most likely fail. We will see how it holds up this summer...
Great video as always. I like your outlook, not the best BUT also not the worst. You work with what you've got. I think the 2 sets of molle on the sides is meant to attach the water bottle holder to the top and bottom ones. I noticed you only used the bottom attachment points. I think if you use the top and bottom the bottle holder will be more secure. Just my two cents.
Totally agree, but they are too far apart to attach my bottle holders. You have to use either the top or the bottom and I tried them both....
Not too bad for for that pack. I bought a cheap one a few months ago and I like it for a short hike. Thanks for sharing.
It is really not bad. We will see if it holds up...
How do I order ? Don't see a website.
Been seeing this alot n thanks for taking 1 for the team Matt. Id use it for day hikes with the bare necessities in it. Might have to get it. I ll wait for another common sense review ya put out. Free lol no.. 👍
Go for it! It is not "free" though so be careful
Thanks!
No problem!
They are fine I bought the package deal and got four of them for like 40 bucks 45 bucks and I've only used two of them right now and they're fine I have not one problem with any of mine.
So far this one is working well
Funny how some of these 'experts' , I call them trolls, have no clue of history. I wonder if they can go 4 years with a bedroll, possible bag, rifle sling and gun belt. Interesting, isn't it? You think back 150 to 250 years ago our forefathers' fought wars, trekked the United States, etc.. with far much less. If you apply your mind and imagination, you can make pretty much anything work for the scenario. Spent many weeklong exercises with just the old LC1 and fanny pack. So yeah. I think you can most definitely adapt the EVO to your individual situation. Lighter is always better. Go Minimal! And rely on skill and not bulk of equipment.
That is exactly what I like to do. I am trying to minimalize and lighten my gear but still have the essentials for a comfortable experience. More to come on this...
@@FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival If I can offer a historical reference, Go to the local public library request the journal of Joseph Plum Maring. A revolutionary soldier who meticulously wrote a journal and read his memoirs. It, leaping forward to the civil war, make us all look like girl scouts. I was going to say something different, LOL, but that would reflect poorly on the community.
Good honest review. It's a compact assault pack. That has to be the most copied style of backpack out there. Is it China made, is it low quality, will it work, yes. Some people just have a let's beat the hot the hell out of it mentality. I'm not sure but I think Maxpedition was the originator of that style with their Falcon series if I'm not mistaken. But for the Weekend Warriors, this will probably suit them fine. Some people don't want to invest in a high-dollar backpack like Maxpedition.
I like doing things inexpensively, not cheap. This one is not the best quality but for 95% of the part time campers/woodsmen this will do just great...
This is the pack I use for multiday ultralight trips.
Me too, and it is holding up well. Just right for an ultralight pack...
I like the design of the backpack.
I hope the straps and zippers hold up.
It is growing on me fast. Only time will tell if it holds up...
Speaking of morale patches, I'd like to get my hands on some Florida Boy Survival patches. Morale patches help me separate my gear. Easily know what's in what bag. There's a few "Florida Boy" specific ideas that I have. I live in South Carolina, same environment. Your logo would be really cool on patches too. Come on, make that happen!!! I'll buy em
Lol I have been thinking about some stickers and maybe patches.....
@@FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival DO IT!!!!!
Or a line of “FBS” canteen cups, stoves and recipe book.
Nah, the logo is too "gator" ;)
Good video. God bless. From Glenn CATT in Massachusetts.
Thanks!
Looks fine for $20 pack.
It is worth it for $20, no more lol
Pretty damn good for $20. You get what you pay for.
Yeah, it is not the best but it is holding up so far...
I ordered this was charged for shipping. 3 days later they made another charge of $67 to my card. Now I have to call the bank and cancel my card it's a scam
Sorry about that.
I was looking for a small "non tactile" looking backpack for around town. Good review, thanks.
Glad it was helpful! Time will tell as to how it holds up
Hey. I ordered some sling bags, similar, on eBay (they look like rip-offs, of the Maxpedition Remora, $100+, that I also have). Was supposed to be free shipping, so I ordered 4 of them. Was going to use them for different hammocks I have. Just small, cheap & easy. Only 1 came in, and the other crap packaged with it, was some kinda lame backdrops for photography. I did get my money back. That Sucked
Lol you cant believe everything you see. One of my best packs is a generic $7 sling bag I got on ebay....
You should check out Walmart backpacks especially before school in September. Have fun stay safe
I check that section every time that I go. Sometimes find great buys...
Clown
It would work perfect for a get back home bag
True, you can pack a lot of stuff in there...
sounds like one I tried, first one had a defect, requested a replacement, new one had 2 defects. I shredded that company in my video on it
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully this one will last a little while...
I mean,it looks like it might be a nice little day pack for a short hike..😏
Or,like the guy said..a good pack for your kid 👍 especially since it's sort of a smaller pack. It seems kinna perfect for like a "youth sized kid"..😉
Not bad for $20 really
Exactly. For $20 it aint bad but it is pretty small...
How's that bag holding up? Are you using it or is it back to the nail? I'm sure they're not YKK zippers at that price point. I found your vid searching for the reviews. Today's pop up ad is the similar bag but now the "New & Improved 2022 Model" as a sling bag lol. For the low low price of 7.95 shipping lol.
Thanks for the review! Cheerz!
It is actually holding up pretty well. Definitely not a heavy duty bag but good for short hikes
Good
Thanks
I ordered mine a few weeks ago and still haven’t gotten it. I hope it arrives
Update: it’s been like 5 months and I STILL HAVEN’T RECEIVED IT
It probably will, mine took a little while
Wow that's not cool
The same dude replies to everybody's comments like he's not the dude behind it all I don't know shady
Volume
Its a $20 man purse for easy every day carry.
Kind of lol
That got dark 🤣
Its not a bad pack
Yeah , but did you notice the hidden 85 dollar charge after your just shipping charge?!!
Lol I did but I only got the shipping charge...
Is it waterproof?
The interior of the top two levels of compartments are lined with plastic but not the large compartment. I would say it is more water resistant then waterproof but we will see...
It looks small
It actually hold a lot
FYI (What a joke) $15 you're paying for shipping and handling you're paying for it
Exactly. It is kind of a scam but at least they sent it to me lol
Thanks 👍
@@FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival you paid 15$for it wrte
@@user-hv2nl3wy9h Yes I actually paid $19.95 for their "FREE" backpack
So, you got bite, what you expect for the price. Hey nice bag for the car. To go fishing. bike ride. Walk in the mall, there are a hundred uses. want perfect spend the 400 dollars.
Well said! It is not bad for what you get. I think it will work well, we will see how it holds up....
@@FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival You know that BUDK get a bad wrap but sometimes you find a jewel. May not be the best but do you use it daily?
it's garbage dude. it will not last long at all
1. not water resistant - will get water damage
2. will bake in sun and crack - as all plastics do
3. zippers and buckles are of the cheapest quality
4.never recommend trash to people if your looking for subs
👎👎👎👎👎
True, it is pretty cheap. It is holding up well though but it will eventually fail
It's basically a gym backpack but a shitty one.
Isn't that a cute little bag. A wallet and small gun bag
Lol it is kind of small, but it is working out good so far
