by David Small? When I first saw Crown live performance and Nap of a Star MV, I remember this book when I was a child.

Thank you for this! I loved Nap of a Star before the video but I had to bar myself from watching the video because it makes me visibly viscerally sad. I'm not sure if it's because it's happening to kids that I'm invested in? I doubt that or if there's something I'm taking to heart, that I can't break of. at any rate, I don't watch the video anymore, even if it is beautiful.

10:00 wow u are so right. i read a psychology book that said the coping mechanism we had as a child was understandable bc at the time we felt we were in danger, and normally it disappears while u grow up but if it doesn't, it kinda backfires and becomes smth called "lifetrap". just like what u said later, an example of it is when we lack emotional love from others we'd always feel lonely & "different" later. Me and My daughter was watching this and we (besides being constantly impressed with your theories and connections) were talking about how we were surprised you didn't mention Smashing Pumpkins MV and song for Tonight Tonight who also used A Trip To the Moon as inspiration for their video. It's an homage to Georges Melies, one of the most important figures in the development of film... every film student learns about him because he was so innovative in creating special effects back in the days of silent film. You can check out his short films, the most famous is "The Trip to the Moon"
