- In this video I show how to build an ASF rat rack using Freedom Breeder Tubs. African soft fur rats are great food for ball pythons and what better way to breed them with freedom breeder tubs.

I would like the video about the tour of the asf's racks and why you do what you do with them. good video easy to understand
Sounds good, I will get to it
Cool set-up! Wish I was that handy.
Hey thanks man, you got some good things too on your channel.
@@clutchpythons9360 Thanks for the support! I'm gonna start putting more content out over the next few months. Be sure to subscribe and hit that bell.

Great video doing research
Awesome DIY video 💯
Thankyou!
what's the demotions for the legs u use to build each layer up on
Solid plan
I have question? What is the space you leave between the racks?
Mine finally had babies! Looks like about 10. Do I take the male out? I have two female and 1 male in the same cage. They won't eat the babies will they?
I wouldn't remove the male. They can be incredibly protective of the babies. Make sure they have plenty of high quality protein. Black oil sunflower seeds and meal worms are great. Sometime first time moms will eat their babies so don't fret. Hopefully it all works out for you. Also, their food is important. I suggest Mazuri rat and mouse. It has 23% protein and is basically a complete diet for them.
I ordered these tubs ... do you have a cut list and wood size ?
Cutlist is in the description
@@clutchpythons9360 Could you label the pieces in the cut list? I'm looking to build a rack very similar to the one that you have built. Thanks
@@secondstateherpetoculture2826 , I went ahead and labeled the pieces that you requested.
@@clutchpythons9360 Thank you very much, I greatly appreciate it
Hi sir, thank you for the great video and channel !!!!!! Just hoping you could give me the size/make of the Sterilite tub you use towards the end of video for your maternity/grow out bins for your ASF's ? Thanks a bunch, Lord bless you and all your love ones, amen. 🙏
So ya, I get those from walmart. I can't remember the size. Honestly they're ok, but not great. They have trouble falling because they're so flexible. I would probably find something more rigid. But if you do want to use them I get them from walmart.
@@clutchpythons9360 thanks soo much for the swift reply sir, God bless you for all that you are doing for soo many pets, reptiles and other creatures !!!!!!! Take care 🙏♥️
I've been watching a bunch of these breeder rack videos and one thing I still can't quite understand is how the rats get the food that's on the wire mesh. It often looks too big to go through, and the mesh is too small for their snouts to go through. How are they actually getting the food from the rack into the rat?
I use 1/4 mesh. It is quite small but eventually the asf will eat through it. It takes a little time to get them to do it but you can do it.
I noticed you had some sterilite tubs towards the end of your video. Do you have any chew outs or any issues with those?
Thanks
I put a tile in the bottom of those to prevent chew outs
@@clutchpythons9360 That is pretty smart, do you still use those also? Do you think that will work for regular rats?
@@andrewsmith9980 Give it a shot, not quite sure
Do you find they feed ok though the small mesh
Hello, I was just wondering if you could lower the volume of your background music or make it so that both your voice and the music is the same volume?
I can't hear you when you speak, so I increase my volume to hear you speak. But once you start working and play the background music, my ears go.. omg.
What is the size of your tub?.
I'm setting up to do this myself and ordered the Freedom Breeder Tubs. What kind of wood did you use?
3/4 inch pine from home depot
cool video, but the music is waaaayy too loud lol
Thanks, I'll cool the volume down next time
Sorry, I mean inches between each rack when you secure them to the legs.
As someone who has rats for pets, and they are the sweetest; how can one bring themselves to "store" them in tubs and then feed them to a snake?
That's a fair question and one that deserves an answer. I love rats as well. I love their personalities and they do bring me joy. It's the hardest part of keeping reptiles. Is it moral to keep rats this way? How can we know what their needs and wants are? That's a difficult question. These rats wouldn't exist if they weren't bred for this reason. They have life because my reptiles need to eat. Is it moral then to provide them with life only to take it away? I don't know. But if we're to ask this question then the same goes for our dogs, cats and in that matter your pet rats. They eat fats from different animals found in any rodent food. Don't their lives matter as well? They most certainly do. In good faith this is a topic we can most certainly address and it helps to consider all angles of the subject. Ultimately I provide my rodents with the best food, water and space. Considering that 90% of the time my rats are all huddled together I believe they are good. Would they like a larger enclosure? Possibly, but it's hard to say considering that we have no real way to gauge that.
What water bottles are you using? Thanks!
I use water bottles from Walmart, but I don't see why any water bottle wouldn't work
