    It is frustrating to watch individual user mistakes be broadcast to a wide audience as a game flaw. With more time or understanding of how the game plays/works you would definitely get the hang of that.

    Ok Alex, the controls are very counter-intuitive to you. That’s fine. I play Minecraft and I can see where the issue can be for a person very used to those controls; but I think that after a while you can adapt to those controls. The main issue with this game are not controls: it is that many things are not quite fully explained (like what the golden beams are and how to get to the chest beneath them) and some “missions” are badly explained too. Then there’s a total lack of many Lego sets. The game has been in early access on steam for the last two (?) years and then it released last march. But there’s no Lego City, Lego Elves, Friends, Ninjago, DC Heroes, Marvel Heroes, Harry Potter, Ghostbusters, Pirates of the Caribbean... not even through DLC. Yes, there are biome-themed worlds, but they use a generic theme.
    You also seem to get wrong some other things about this game: infinite worlds doesn’t mean each world is without boundaries; it refers to the number of worlds you can visit, not their size!
    The other main problem is that the game is full of things to discover, but you just run around collecting building projects, unlocking items and do some other stuff, but it feels a bit empty in comparison to Minecraft. Building things using actual Lego bricks is definitely super cool, though.
    This game is not this bad. I’m sorry you have so many issues with the controls. The game won’t be a system seller, but it has its fair reason to be and it’s quite a fun experience.

    Let's be honest dude, I bought this game too and I'm a little farther than you are....
    You haven't even reached the first objective of gathering 25 gold pieces to proceed to the next "type" of worlds.
    How can you even "review" or give "an honest opinion"? You didn't even play the game. U barely even played adventure mode.
    I do agree with you, the UI is fucking shit. This game needs input mapping to be optional too because they messed that up big time too.
    Saying the game is bad because they clearly they either didn't hire the right person for those two jobs or they simply didn't have the person (since they are an indie studio) is ridiculous. The complexity of the system employed to build this world is incredible and honestly Minecraft might have landed the original idea but this surpasses it by a FUCKTON**. This is the perfect mixture between MC and NMS terrains. In my opinion up to now by far one of the most interesting procedural terrains ever.
    Besides the game is 30 bucks which is not AAA price so what did you expect? A game that was polished 100%? Because not even AAA games do that....
    Honestly this game has a lot of promise and to pretend like the UI is bad enough as to have you ignore 90 % of the game (which is what you did) clearly proved that the one who isn't doing his job properly today is you.
    **I will say however they should have kept the infinite worlds from their early access days, i don't like the worlds having limits to be something mandatory.

    • @EnriquePage91
      @EnriquePage91 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Doyoulikewaffles? Yeawelikewaffles! Well buddy isn't that what he did?
      "let me just trash the game cause the controllers aren't perfect - let me review it while I haven't even played 10% of the game".
      Besides, like I said, I have the game and eventhough the controls might be *slightly* awkward they are still good enough to at least play it a bit more than he did *particularly if you intend to review it*.
      Besides bud let's be honest here, there are amazing companies out there, that doesn't mean everyone should be held to the same standard, since not everyone has the same man power, capital, or even time.
      Particularly as you've been pointed out, those games have had a long time to improve - which if you haven't realized, is pretty much the same thing that has improved EVERY game like this.
      Procedural worlds take FOREVER to build, so much time is spent implementing the *basics* the whole game will rely on, and it particularly implies a higher need for coders than artists which if you didn't know they are both more rare and also get better salaries - so you can see how that will go for an indie studio. It is in my opinion under the current business model video games work on, only natural for a game THIS complex to be at an "incomplete" stage.
      Besides, are we just gonna ignore the fact that this is the only Lego game not worth more than 50 bucks on the switch right now? That alone should tell you how much *Lego* itself didn't believe in the team behind this as otherwise they would have charged a 60 dollars price and would have probably gotten a lot more people involved to polish it to a AAA state. Particularly given how much *LEGOLIKE* this game actually is. Every Lego game should rely on THIS game as a foundation point and If you don't agree with this then you probably never played actually Legos. Unfortunately it is just about as complex as it is impressive, which means it will take time to get it to the same polish state you would expect from a different type of game.
      This is clearly a game that can't be judged by the same standards as the ones of the examples you used, and certainly not either by the standards you would judge a AAA game - since these games spent 50% of their budget on marketing and most probably up to 20% ONLY on UX, something generally indie teams can never afford although it unfortunately is the part that is in charge of granting the level of polish this game actually lacks.
      As for the rest, I still stand behind my opinion, have played more than 20 hours of this game which means at the moment I have payed 1,5 dollars per hour played.
      People pay 15 bucks to go see a fucking movie in NYC, I'd rather play an indie game.
      Last but not least, and probably should have said this before to not piss the fanboys - I actually find myself watching your channel quite often. You're a good funny guy and honestly this is just constructive criticism.
      Everyone is allowed to fuck up as long as they own up to it - this wasn't really a review - if anything it was more like a first impressions.

    • @mattstat716
      @mattstat716 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Now, a first impressions video would not be bad. I would understand more, but considering he's judging the game entirely based on a few tiny details, I don't think this counts as a good video, much less good review.

    Now long did you played this game? You have a health bar because, when you die, you may fail to complete a quest by the time you respawn (I’m thinking about defending NPCs quests). And on larger worlds you have dungeons to complete, which are far more complex that the random quests you get from NPCs. I’m sorry the controls have been such a pain for you. It’s clear you cannot committ enough to this game to see what good it has to offer just because of controls. After years of Minecraft, I still mistake the action button for the destroy button many times, with sometimes very bad results, but I’ve never said it is an issue in the control scheme. I think you could definitely adapt to this controls if you just wanted. I think the whole game doesn’t feel very fun to you after years and years of Minecraft, so you’re not trying all you can to get into this game. That’s fine, you don’t have to like all the games around here, but I’m afraid many of your “complaints” can be overcome by just letting the game teach you how to be played rather that constantly trying to play it in a way that may feel more comfortable and intuitive to you but it is just odd for this game.

    I like this game. But for me my complaints aren't about controls or frame rate. My issues are with the substance. I wish that AI was more intelligent. When I spawn AI (for example Towns people in a city) They would literally leave the city I spawned them in and would mindlessly walk around to a nearby forest which is what I DONT WANT THEM TO DO. I also wish you could assign the AI text to speak when spoken to, or assign quests similar in the campaign. I feel like creation would have really explored making really fun worlds to explore and playing other players content more especially when it's more objective driven. Very similar to what others do in Minecraft. In this game however, I just go and look at stuff and say, "Hey that's cool." and then its all over. There is no depth to this game. The best part of it, creating, is great, but I mean for heavens sake in Minecraft you create to survive. Having some other game modes like Survival, or make your own game within the game would've been super cool. Especially seeing what others could make. Very similar to what Roblox is. Anyway, those are my gripes with the game.

    I have the game both on a (powerful) pc and Ps4. Performance is bad on both. I find that the draw distance is bad. The world loads slowly around you, and when you move in one particular direction the computer can't keep up and the draw distance becomes even lower. If they coulf fix this I would be happy! I should be possible.

      TehGhoSt WHo PLay, sort of. But lego bricks are a lot more complicated to render than the cubes in minecraft. I think TT-Games should just follow Minecraft at large distances and render everything as cubes at large distances, which they are already doing to a limited extent. They could do it more efficiently and make the draw distance a lot bigger. By the way, I also bought Lego Worlds on the Switch yesterday! It holds up pretty well. There are a lot less critters I notice, compared to pc and ps4.

      I have the game on PC and I don't see any frame drops or draw distance issues. Not sure what PC you have, but a decent one should run it absolutely fine. On my PC I pretty much get 60 FPS and above.

    • @patatje6974
      @patatje6974 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Majick, I had low frame rates near the dungeon. You can set the draw distance very high on PC, but when you move around, areas further away stream in too slowly. I can often overtake the edge with an aircraft, even on PC. But perhaps this has changed. I haven't played the PC version for a while. The PS4 version I have checked recently, and the pop in is as bad as it always was.

    I'm 53 gold bricks of the way through. I agree with the controls and UI, but after a few hours of persevering I am quite used to it now. Not to detract from your other opinions (I agree with most of what I'm seeing here!!), but TT Games did an AMA on reddit a few days ago and suggests some promising updates to come. A lot of this may be addressed. This is a direct quote "We intend to add a lot of feature updates, but also improve existing ones, such as menus and the way tools behave."

    The thumbnail was enough to crack me up with laughter! You know, maybe if they allowed customisable controls and tightened the menu's responsiveness by way of a patch or two, LEGO Worlds would've been a little better. They've promised online play and a better icon, at least.

      You collect gold bricks and unlock more worlds, you progress by unlocking world and collecting all pieces, in general this isnt like minecraft where you farm build and craft lego worlds is just a sandbox game where you build to your hearts content.

  • @GKDakota
    @GKDakota 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This video is wrong in several spots.
    You only have like 14 gold bricks, you unlock bigger worlds after 25 bricks and even bigger at 80 bricks. You haven't discovered most of the map when you claim that "this is the entire world" and you're on the smallest map.
    There are several items that cost several thousand of the studs and while money is easy to get, there's also a ton of stuff to purchase. There has never been any consequence to dying in a Lego game so there's really no point in this one either.
    By the halfway point you are literally nitpicking every single thing the game does, which tells me you ran out of things to say. The developers are adding a patch to fix the menus and icon for the Switch version and to fix framerate issues.

    So clearly you have never played a lego game because the controls are exactly like any other lego game that's why they are that way. It is a lego game not minecraft so of course the controls will be different from what your used to. I love lego games so I bought this game knowing the controls were going to be like any other like Lego game.

    Only big problem with this game is after playing for maybe 2 hours it starts glitching, this includes “the game closed do to an error”, this just happens to me where you spawn in an igloo for a quest and the boarders closes off the igloo didn’t get fully constructed having an loading spinner on screen you can skydive and warp to the rocket, with 4 trouble makers first time that happened the game closed. That broader nothing can go outside of it or inside.
    You leave the planet then your trapped in loading screen without the % icon, the construction sound is playing through out this time. Only way I can get out of it so far is restarting the game.

    The worlds, just so you guys know in the comments, become much bigger. I'm talking huge. To make things short, in the game there is a leveling system for your rocket. The higher the level the farther into your lego galaxy you can go. He's on level 14 (not very high at all) which means he can only access the small worlds. They get progressively higher the more you progress. Small, Medium, Big, Huge. I've played 50 hours of Lego Worlds and I can officially say it's a great buy.

  • @JoeFresi

    The controls are delayed because poor memory management visible here in its threading. It's using voxels for the blocks which is very intense and craps the bed on any hardware if not done well. Comparison to the switches menu responsiveness is pointless here
