    I was looking for how to set up my wahoo for planned workouts outside and this is the only useful video I could find and can't thank you enough. You got yourself a subscriber. :)

    Had similar screens for everesting. Also included max lap power as a tattletale for when i hit the initial wall too hard (also was good to look to keep spikes down and figure out how little power i could do and still ascend). -U10

    Nice video. For longer intervals, say a long climb I want to pace, I will also have a 30 second average power field as well, as I find that helps me keep my effort consistent. One other point worth mentioning is while a well done interval will have the right average power, just having the right average power does not mean the interval was done well. If you are supposed to be doing 10 minute sweet spot intervals and are low the first 8 minutes, and crush the last 2 to get your average right you messed up the intervals, even if the average comes out close.

      All great points. Always appreciate your input. I’ve never used the 30sec rolling avg. May have to try that sometime. I also agree on the interval pacing. There is an art to pacing. Hoping just having people learn how to setup a lap page would help them get started with pacing. I know a lot of people do zwift and use erg. While erg is cool, it does take the art of pacing out of the equation.

    Thx! On my Garmin 830 - I use "lap power" - which is so key! Question - how does "lap power" on a Garmin differ from "average lap power" (they are two different menu options I think?). Also - do you recommend "lap power" vs. "normalized lap power"? I notice when I use NP for lap power it's way-different and takes time to ramp up the watts...

    • @ChazTurmon
      @ChazTurmon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm, I think lap lower is usually the average lap power for the lap. Haha. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Can’t remember. I would never use NP. It’s slightly different that the avg. NP basically says if you had paced extremely well, this would be your power. Hence why it’s slightly higher normally than your actual avg power from the lap.

    • @codywhear7357
      @codywhear7357 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hey man you shouldnt really use NP for any efforts under 20 min :)

    • @ChazTurmon
      @ChazTurmon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I definitely wouldn’t advise for any intervals. Now in racing, I keep an eye on NP. Races can be so explosive. NP paints a good picture for the overall physiological cost. So I’ll try and hide more in the pack if NP is too high during certain points of races.

      I used the skydio 2 drone. It uses ai and gps to fly. So I out the gps beacon in my back pocket, tell it what angle to film from and it takes it from there. Glad you enjoyed the shots and info.

    Always wondered how to use this function as I always had my single screen set up and never touched the lap function. Scratching my head as to how you don't have 1million subscribers :)

    • @ChazTurmon
      @ChazTurmon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s amazing how many people don’t use laps. Honestly when you see “lap” you don’t think you could make an interval page out of it.
      The subscribers will come. The more you share and spread the word about my channel the more people will discover me. Takes a tribe. Thanks for the support. 🙌

    Chaz- How do you get your Wahoo and TrainingPeaks wattage to align? I want to use the top lights on my bolt as it looks like you do (bolded watt box in the beginning of this video) however my TP watt zones (using Coggan) are different from Wahoo. Using the same FTP in both. On Wahoo I can only fill out the start of the range for said zone, not the second. Thanks, sir. Great videos.

    • @ChazTurmon
      @ChazTurmon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What I can see is when you input your ftp, choose the 6 zones option. Then starting at aerobic zone, set the begging of it. Do this for each zone. You can customize the begging point of each zone. The end zone will then be corrected. Hope this helps.

      @@ChazTurmonthanks chaz. looking fwd to watching all your vids. i have a wahoo V2. just started using the lap page/functions as described. my 2 questions are 1) is there no way to end a lap without starting a new one? it seems as soon as you hit lap button to end lap it starts the next even if you have like down time to recover. confused. and 2) when you hit the lap button should the lap page automatically display? when i hit it it a large Lap 4 appears but i then have to scroll to the lap page each time to see data. thanks and congrats on your accomplishments.

    • @ChazTurmon
      @ChazTurmon  ปีที่แล้ว

      So when you hit lap it’ll start a new one. That is why I have “last lap avg” on so I can see what I just did on the last lap. And it is ok to lap your recovery/down time. I do. That’s how I know my recovery time is over.
      Second answer, I usually move to the lap page and stay on it when using it and doing intervals. When you hit lap it doesn’t move you to the page. Just starts a new lap.

    • @ChazTurmon
      @ChazTurmon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea. Setup a screen that would give data for that given lap. Post ride you can then easily look at all the laps you did during a ride.

    Sucky part about Garmin is the workout timer doesn’t stop if you stop at like a stop sign. Smh

    • @ChazTurmon
      @ChazTurmon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know. I like the Garmin platform but their workout mode is sooooo behind. The wahoo workout mode is amazing. Only issue I have with the wahoo is it always has a lower avg power for the entire ride compared to the fit file, Strava, or a Garmin. They sample more data within a second compared to everyhting else in the industry which only samples data every 1sec. So when you coast, the avg power drops quickly because of the high sampling rate. When doing intervals it isn't an issue though unless you encounter an intersection or downhill where you may coast.
      Example, I did a 20min power test. I had two intersection during my test. The wahoo read 356W for the 20min test. When I got home and looked into the data on say Strava, WKO, or TrainingPeaks, my 20min power avg was actually 360W. So a difference of 4w. Not huge. Thats a rounding error but still shows that the wahoo over samples compared to everything else in the industry.

      As a chef I completely agree with your little rant about imperial. But in cycling, at least watts are watts, seconds are still seconds, so heartrate and cadance are also one international standard..
      I think speed and distance are not very interesting and quite irrelevant in this video.
