    The Prem Y seat is ok for sub 6 hours. I can't imagine 14 in it. The food lately in Prem Y has taken a nosedive too. A lovely mini croissant in a bag was my breakfast from YUL-LHR in June. Mmmmm 7-11ish.

      Yeah, depends on your perspective. If you're used to flying business/first, agreed. However I would gladly takes this seat versus 15 hours in economy.

    Best video so far! Flying SYD to YVR in September in PE. Booked seats 14A and K. Should have served you breakfast on porcelain plates. That's what you pay for! Were seats comfortable? Wish the seats had proper leg rests like reclining chairs do. Some airlines offer that in PE. Did the cabin crew ensure your area remained private and not open to economy?

    • @GregMattson
      @GregMattson  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! The seats are quite comfortable, although nothing like a lie-flat business seat (after 15 hours you've had enough!) I noticed a few from economy coming up to use the washrooms, so not sure what the policy is on that. Probably depends on the crew if they choose to enforce any boundaries or not.

    Took me back to my trip along time ago. Flew Qantas on a 747, and very sparse in comparison with the 787’s technology.
    Cheers mate!

    I’ve flown premium economy on a few airlines and mostly the food had been economy food with a couple of extras, and better drink service.

    • @GregMattson
      @GregMattson  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. AC overall (not just this flight, but other international PE legs I have flown with them, like YVR-LHR and YVR-FRA) has a good product in premium, and for me the biggest plus is not so much the food but the extra room and the separate cabin - love 14 H&K on the Dreamliner, with the bulkhead behind, peace & quiet, no one kicking your seat, but still fairly good recline.

      @@GregMattson Air Canada Rouge, Calgary Alberta to Glasgow Scotland ,, premium economy ,, dinner, fresh salad, centre cut beef fillet, roast potatoes, green beans. Dessert was chocolate fudge cake ,, meal was served with imported red wine followed with coffee and liqueurs. Passengers in regular economy dinner service ,, chicken and rice or pasta ,, the food in premium economy was excellent ,, way above what they served in regular economy.

    The dreamliner! I wonder if early next year I can request for an upgrade, with the social distance seating and all. It would be great, so i can actually enjoy the 14 hours. 😁 I was flying on this day too, only I was returning from Philippines to YVR at the time 😁 WOW food in a plate, not a tray. Now that? is worth the cost altogether 😍

    Pretty chintzy serving juice when other airlines such as Lufthansa serve Henkel trocken. The menu looks like it was from Air Canada Rouge. That being said nice aircraft wish the would put newer planes on the Vancouver Dublin and Dublin Toronto routes.

    You sound like someone who has flown PE in AC a fair bit. Would you recommend AC for the Melbourne to Vancouver flight. I'm leaning to AC as I have to go to Toronto and I would get PE on the Vancouver to Toronto leg as well. PS - Thanks for the video

    • @GregMattson
      @GregMattson  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks - if your final destination is Toronto, then AC from MEL to YVR is a pretty good choice. Qantas apparently has a very nice Premium Economy, but I think you'll find the connection in Vancouver fairly pain-free and less hassle than say QF to LAX or SFO and then connecting to YYZ via AC or WJ.

    • @Secco1954
      @Secco1954 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GregMattson The PE on the QANTAS A380 looks really good and I know someone who recently flew with Virgin to LAX in PE and said it was very good, but as long as AC PE is ok, it will be my choice so I don't have to go through customs in both USA and Canada. AC has good connections and I think the clincher is being in PE for the whole trip, whereas if I went via LAX or San Francisco it would be a 5 hour flight in economy to Toronto.

    We have booked the exact same seats from YVR to LHR. IS THIS ROW TOO CLOSE TO Economy for noise? Would row 13 be any quieter?

    • @GregMattson
      @GregMattson  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We found row 14 excellent, and no noise issues from Y. There's a bulkhead wall behind the seats (doesn't affect recline) which acts somewhat as a buffer, and also prevents anyone from kicking the back of your seat!

The crew were great!!! Then on the way to Aus I flew Air New Zealand Business and the good food was lighter and VERY nicely done and presented, again great crew!!!
