Man... I love lever action rifles. Thank you, my friend. This is right up my alley.
.30-30 win all day
Why don't you line up the jugs with the flat side facing you 🤔🤔
Water is harder the harder you hit it.water will not compress.😊
You need to watch the density not wt 170 in 3030 and 200 in 350 buck hammer
I'd like to see .35 Remington compared to 360 Buckhammer
Me too!
Me too
Me three
I second this
I think they’re the same bullet just 120 fps faster
I personally like when the 30-30 out performs it’s competition. I guess it’s because I grew up shooting a model 94 back in the early 70s. However, these comparison videos are absolutely a blast to watch.
It really didn't outperform the 360 it pentrated more but look which 1 makes the biggest hole since both will shoot through a deer
@@garyk76one is a 30 cal. And the other is a 35 cal to begin with. It's obvious that the 35 is going to expand more, both being core lokt. The biggest question is which expand more given the starting diameters, which WTW didn't measure. They both will be fine on whitetails. THE 30-30 will always hold it's own against anything for it's intended purpose.
I agree the 360 won this match. Barely. My statement was meant to mean I’m a big 30-30 fan. I cheer it on when ever it is up against another caliber. Its such a reliable caliber and seems to be right in the fight when compared to other equivalent rounds. In this comparison it mushroomed perfectly, penetrated more milk jugs, but it did not and is not capable of making as big a wound channel. However I believe companies will always try finding a way to compete with what I consider to be a great round. Having been my first deer rifle so many years ago, I’m always cheering it on.
30-30 actually has fantastic penetration. There is great reason why it works so well on moose and elk. A lot less FPE then a 30-06 and .308 but actually penetrates deeper tests I have seen. (This is due to its tendency to expand less at its lower velocity while having a relatively heavy bullet)
We also have to consider that different bullet manufacturers have slightly different construction. That said, when I hunted wild boars, I used my 30-30 with Federal blue box 170 grain and that slug expanded like the 360 did. It was recovered in a boar that I shot broadside in the shoulder, it was stuck under the skin after going through the other shoulder and that boar dropped like a sack of taters. I wanna say it was like a 30-35 yard shot. I'd really like to see this test done with the Hornady lever evolution ammo, I've had really good luck with that ammo and it's been devastating on deer.
About what I expected. A straightwall would travel a little less, but that never cartridge has better expansion. Both will get the job done. As I already have a 336 I'll be sticking with the 30-30 and for straightwall, a 350legend. Good video.
Remington CoreLokt ammo sure has stood the test of time. No telling how many million deer have been taken with it.
🦌🦌🦌
I'm old school and will stick with the old 30-30. Where l live a 50 yard shot is a long one. There is a lot of 30-30's out there.
Great video, but I think I'll stick with my 30/30
I never got into the "new" calibers. Newest caliber I own is 500 S&W. Seems like new calibers are all the rage for a few years then they die off. The 30-30 more than likely isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
you're an absolute rockstar; thank you for doing these fun test, for having fun, for always producing such great content so consistently! I know you put in a ton of effort, and you're still going. I love all the 30-30 content I can get!
Appreciate you watching!
Thanks Adam for the cool test ! 3030 is all you need for hunting anything under 200 yards !
The Buckmammer would need to have about a 240 grain bullet to have the same sectional density as the 170 30-30. The 150 30-30 is closer to the 180 360 in SD and velocity.
In the deer woods, they would both put meat in the freezer. The nose design of the 30-30 would also lead it to lose more weight, much more lead exposed.
Nice test.
Actually the 225 grain in 35 cal is right around the same as the 170 30-30
170 grn cal. 30 cal = .256 SD, while 225 grn 35 cal = 251
All are deer harvesters, but I am all about Sectional density over velocity always. Then again, I hunt the woods, not the plains. I want some meat to take home. 30-06 I have used, and it wasted a lot of meat at 40 yards.
@@nathanlambshead4778 A 230 grain .358 is more precise, having a .256 sectional density which matches the 170 grain .308.
As before, either into a deer's boiler room will put them down for the count.
@@williamgaines9784 Agreed. .240+ SD is good for whitetail. Need a through and through shot for blood trail here in the dense Northeast woods. I know too many who have lost a deer from not going through and through. They disappear in half a second around here, even with a lung and heart blown out. They can go a LONG way in the trees and swamps on one lung and adrenalin.
@@nathanlambshead4778 I try to high shoulder everything here. Anything that gets in the thick here is a J. O. B., and the thick is only inches away. There will be more than one blood trail by the time you're done with all the briars and whatnot, if you know what I mean - you'll think you've gone a mile after only 75 yards😓! My motto is plant them deep, so they don't come up.😉
Great video but how about a .35 Rem. vs 360 BH test? Both bullets exhibited good performance but my guess is that the 30-30 170 grain would penetrate deeper on game. It would be interesting to test the 200 grain 360 BH which should penetrate better than the 180 grainer. It's all about sectional density of the bullets.
I am going with the classic.30-30! Why ? Because I actually have a NEF Handi Rifle in.30-30 and a Marlin 336 in.30-30 and several boxes of high quality ammunition for the hunt ! I think those are excellent reasons!
Awesome video as usual thanks for responding to my questions earlier and putting me on towards that 307 action and that quick rundown on field dressing you're a true legend LOL god bless
The only thing wrong with the older cartridges is the shortsightedness of the states that won’t allow their use.
If I could use either one in my state. I would use the 30-30 . Its more common and probably cheaper than the 360 Buck hammer.
Enjoy the milk jug videos. I’d choose the 360 mainly because we have to use straight wall cartridges in Ohio for deer. Won’t replace my 45-70 though. Thanks for the video WTH!
Thanks for watching!
I appreciate the additional information you have included in this video. Keep up the good work.
Appreciate you watching
Thank You so much for running a class act , love the detail effort's the consistent results you provide to many shooters , apples to apples !
Much appreciated!
I appreciate the extra effort you put forth, of putting the extra jugs on the sides to better catch the bullets. Good job in trying to make your videos better. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
There is something so aesthetic about the expansion of that 30-30. Like a little mushroom cloud.
Like seeing these projos and how they perform. Those rifles are sweet. Thanks, and keep them coming.
Great video. I think it was my fingers crossed that made the difference :) Although long gone, the 375 winchester was a beast. I had a win 94 and contender pistol in 375. From your results, the 360 buckhammer looks similar. That 180 grainer woul definitively leave a big exit. Thanks for your fun content.
Nice video well done! Thanks for being thorough.
Thanks for watching
I do like 3030 , first "big" rifle i shot when i was 10. Good show sir !
Thanks buddy great info great video as always ! 👍👍 would like to see some groups outta that buck hammer .
I would like to see both of these rounds go head to head against clay or ballistic gel, that would be Awesome
Nice comparison WTW, both great rounds!
Seems like that B.H would make a nice pistol round. Just saying 😊
That’s a nice looking Winchester.
😍😍😍
Really enjoyed the video, made me take my old 30-30 out for a trip to the range...
The 3030 did expectantly good. The 360 buck hammer was impressive. Assuming it has better ballistics as a newer cartridge. Definitely slapped that deer you took with it.
That 360 BH seems like a winner. Of course, the .30-30 is a proven deer killer.
My home State just added straight wall cartridges to the handgun, archery, muzzleloader, shotgun hunts so that 360 has my attention.
I’ll stick with my 30-30. Thanks for the experiment. I use the 160gr LeverEvolution and love it.
Bullets did a good job. Another neat video. Weight retention is actually pretty good for shooting gallon jugs of water.
As always I really enjoyed your video. It would be interesting to compare the .360 Buckmaster with the old .35 Remington with the same grain bullet since they are both .358 diameter rounds. The old 30-30 displayed great penetration and that equals a great blood trail IF the deer didn't go down where he stood.
Nice to finally see a video of 30-30 using 170 grain. Everyone seems to be stuck on 150s these days. Of course, finding decent 170s has become as tough as buying TP during the plandemic. I only use 170s in my Marlin 336. Not surprised that the 170 30-30 went a little deeper. A fair amount higher sectional density than the 180 grn 360. -.201 vs .256 SD
Let's goo! I've never heard of the Buckhammer before.
It's time for who_tee_who to hit the treadmill.
Seeing as I have two 30-30's and I don't live in a straight wall state. I will definitely stay with the 30-30. I see the 360 as nothing more than the 35 Remington in a straight wall case.
which gives us, that do live in straight walled states, a great combination to hunt with. I have several 30-30s and a Remington 141 in 35cal and wouldn't get rid of any of them. I have a 350 Legend but am going to get a 360.
Love the milk jug videos. Great entertainment
Thanks for watching!
You were right that was a really really fun video.
Thanks for watching!
Fun test. However a 150 grain 30-30 would compare better to the 180 grain 360. or 170 vs a 200 so the sectional density would be closer.
Great video brother GOD BLESS
Oh wow! I like your new and improved boolott collection device!!!!
Im really liking the 360 buckhammer videos 👍👍👍
Thanks for watching
Great video
Actually excited you put out a 30-30 video, i have a 30-30 18" barrel adapter for my 12 gauge and i cant wait to try it out in my h&r & make a multi purpose rifle out of my shotgun
That is cool
@WHOTEEWHO it's a chaszel barrel insert, if you ever get your hands on one you should make a video, but they are often out of stock
Thanks for sharing another great video 👍
Thanks for watching!
Another great video, WTW. 👏 👏 👏
🙏🙏🙏
Thank you very much for this test. It would be interesting to compare copper ammunition like the Browning BXR to see the penetration and weight retention. best regards
Always enjoy the milk jug videos!
Thanks for watching!
You should do some videos with the hornady 30-30 leverevolution 160 gr load for comparison. I have a recovered mushroom from an antelope I shot lengthwise and the bullet hung up in the hair after exiting the far end. The mushroom looks more dramatic than the core-lokt you have there. I haven't tried to catch one in water yet, but I have taken multiple deer and antelope with the load and it's performance has been down right impressive.
Awesome video
Good one Thanks
Pretty cool video thanks
Thanks for watching
Great job dude good video
Thanks for watching
I guess I'm partial I hunted with a 30-30 as a kid in the hills of PA
Great video, still wonder where my venerable .35 Rem fits in there...
(and you always help us, I'm still not letting you off the hook, a verse is in a poem/song, "versus" is comparing one to another 😉).
loved it,I don't have a 360,however I have a 3030!
Excellent presentation 👍😎🙏
Thanks for watching Peter
Looks like the 360 had a bit more recoil. Lookede like a lot of energy and if you have to have a straightwall cartridge it seems to be a fantastic choice. Less recoil is always better in my book. Eaiser to get on target.
Thanks for sharing the video. Good info on both rounds. Either one for hunting 200 yds and under.
Thanks for watching
Awesome video adam. 3030 is hard beat. Just wish start see other rifles offering in the 360buckhammer so catch on not just falls on its face so many new ones do . Love see 35cal start get some love.
Few more on the way that I know of
Never heard of 360 buck hammer 🛠 Enjoy watching you shooting milk jugs Have a great week Adam
Thanks for watching
@@WHOTEEWHO your welcome
Awesome
👍😊 now the 35 rem. Vs 360 .
Nice, you found a 360 killer mushroom there.
inside 100 the 360 BH is a clear winner. Beyond that the ridiculously bad aerodynamics of that 180 grain bullet (BC .178) make it a wash on energy with higher speeds for the 30-30
This comment is going to make some people mad. I hate the 30-30 cartridge. I know, I know, it's killed more deer than any other rifle round out there. It's the gun that one the west, as my dad has told me several times. He's 79 still hunts with his grandfather's original Winchester model 94 to this very day. It's a beautiful rifle for sure. It's got all kinds of history, yes I know. But I just think it's way underpowered. I'm 50 now, when I was 18 for senior graduation present. My parents bought me a Remington 7600 30-06. I've got 7mm mags, 300 win mags, 45-70, and I love that gun. But I'm always in the woods with that 30-06. Even when my dad isn't with me, he his. You can't put a price on that. Just my own humble, personal opinion.
Thanks for the content as always! Courios what the speed is on both of them.
I forgot I lived in the day of google hehe, 2200 on da great 3030
And 2400 hundred on da 360hammer
Loved the video deciding between the 30-30 and the 45-70 Govt. But don't know which brand of rifle with a budget.
He shot the bottom with the 45-70
Who tee who cool tests I love em proof is in pudding but remington makes a non lead buck hammer slug for 12 gauge you should test that next 🍻🇺🇲👍🇮🇹🦊
The buckhammer was impressive and I'll give it that. It's a great caliber if you want a straight wall cartridge, but if you don't need a straight walled cartridge, it's not worth getting rid of the 30-30 for it. Same goes for 350 legend or any of the straight walled cartridges except the big boys in which I'd understand because you need/want those higher ft lbs of energy for larger game.
360 is 200 fps faster, which helped to expand a little more
I crossed my fingers the day after when I was watching, it seemed to work well!
I hope Rem. Is giving you royalties every time you say .360BHM 😅 🤙
Would like to see comparable sectional densities....great video hoss
Thanks for watching
I'm glad I'm not the only red neck that wears crocs.
😆😆😆
I hunt in a straight wall limited area. Been hunting with great success with a Henry 44mag the past 6 years. However, last year several deer were beyond the accurate range of the 44mag (took one at 160yds)- so I needed a bullet with longer range. Since my straight wall 444 has too long of a case to be allowed in my area😞- I bought a Henry 360 Buckhammer Steel. When hunting fields; I will see how it does this year.
Love those lever guns WtW ...
Me too!
This was to be expected. A 180 grain bullet in 35 cal has a very low sectional density, whereas a 170 grain 30 cal has a higher sectional density. A 180 grain bullet is a very light bullet for that buckhammer, I’d try the test again with a bullet that has a higher sectional density like the 200 or 230 grain for the buckhammer.
Really fun! 😀
Thanks for watching!
Both rifles are sweet. The Henry is beautiful
😍😍😍
Nice wood on the 94!
30-30 for me can't wait to see which companies are going to make that 360 Buck hammer in a bolt-action I really hope CVA makes one
Bolt action be awesome. Probably more likely to see single shots
That rim can be trouble feeding in a box magazine
I’d like to see 38 55 vs 360 bh.
I was praying to the 30cal gods for you lol
I'll stick with the .30 WCF! You should try to compare a 360 BH vs 35 Rem vs 375 Win! The trifecta of medium bore lever guns!
Nice test
Thanks for watching!
for me it's the 30-30 because i already own 1
Good video, please keep them coming!!!!!
😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you! Will do!
Who’Tee let’s go back to a good old Ballistic Gel test & compare the 360 Buck Hammer & the 350 Legend
I remember you had a hard time stopping the 350 Legend - it flogged the 30-30W 😢
Gonna still stick with the good ol 30-30 it's been tested in fire as the saying goes and is still going strong today
357 Max is a proven 150 yard deer slayer in handguns. Go to rifle pressure with a rifle and 360 is a perfect deer catcher….
Very true big E. Also the 350 ledgen is proven deer killer in 100 -200 yards. With smaller .355-356 bullet. Where 360buckhammer like the 35rem use a 358 bullet.
38-55 vs 400 legend would be great video
The antelope I retrieved the ftx mushroom from, was hit at @110 yds, and traveled full length, diagonally through the antelope.
Who-Tee-Who, what is advantage of 360 BuckHam, it seems to be pretty close in power to 30-30, if not a TAD stronger. Enjoy your videos with the milk jugs. You take so much care in your videos.
Advantage is it is a straight wall cartridge. Can use it in places where 30-30 is not allowed
Who tee 😊
You need to do the 360 Buckhammer v the 350 Legend
When you did the 350 v the 450 the 350 went straight thru the 7th jug
Line’um up 🎉
I have the same kind of luck trying to catch bullets!
I'm guessing 360 to be the winner. We will see...
