- Chinese fortune telling gets no more authentic than on this ancient street of Jianchuan, Yunnan. We spoke to two Chinese fortune teller's using different methods, namely palm reading, to ascertain our futures and our pasts!
Though it was hard to understand their readings sometimes, it seemed they were able to understand us...

I dont believe in fortune telling, but it's always relaxing and cool to have your palm readed.

Huh. Super interesting that this popped up on my recommended! It looks like you guys had fun. I’d love to get a palm reading sometime like this too-I actually read tarot semi-professionally and while I completely understand the naysayers, I honestly just think it’s a fun thing to experience as a traveler. Also her bluntness is hilarious and it reminds me of my ole asian gramma too lmao. I don’t feel a disingenuous vibe from her. But from a professional practitioner’s standpoint, it’s deffo not a good look that she wasn’t transparent about pricing (even if the price in the end was reasonable, especially for two, and way cheaper than some services you’ll find in the US). Lifespan readings are very controversial among Western practitioners because it’s seen as unethical, but maybe Eastern palmistry and divination sees it differently? I get that health, longevity, and good fortune is something that’s viewed kinda differently there somehow. Idk, it’s hard to explain, there’s something different about it than like the American analogue to abundance. Thanks for uploading this!

Hi, Have you guys ever talked about how Scott reached that level of language "fluency"? Like tips and tricks, books, courses and so on.
Not really! I don't feel I'm at a level where I'm qualified to give advice yet. I think once I've cracked how to improve my pronunciation I'll be ready to share :)
But if you're interested, a basic outline of my current pathway has been:
Hello Chinese app > 6 weeks of lessons at Omeida, studying using DuChinese and flashcards daily, small talk in daily life, 2 Boya Chinese books > Wordswing, watching Tv/films, meeting more chinese friends who don't speak english, doing subtitles for our videos every week, occasional other projects like translating stuff, reading/studying (30mins/page haha) Chinese books, everyday help and correction from Ella and occasional more formal lessons where she'll focus on a grammar point or whatever, daily focus on pronunciation going through pinyin charts and restudying tones.
The times when I see the most progress are in lessons with Ella or where I have a specific project that I work through (like I just translated 4 songs). Otherwise it's a slow accumulation of knowledge. I work on our films (filming or editing) practically every day, so don't have as much dedicated study time as I'd like :) Hope that helps a little!

Chinese fortune telling is the only kind that usually interests me.
If that works I need to go to a fotuneteller before buying a life insurance. I will buy life insurance if I have a long life.. I wonder if that works for insurance companies
