I just got my Go 3 and as someone who isn’t a super gear-head I think it’s awesome. It’s a fun little camera that reminds me of the GoPro Hero Session line. No messing around with all of the in depth settings. Just press the button and go. There’s something I like about that.
A little unfair to compare different styles of cameras by using the exact same criteria and recording pattern though. It’s not made for casual street vlogging in my opinion. But rock climbing, marathon running, are two examples where lighter/smaller is a big plus. All those situations where you need both hands are a good way to try this camera too. Riding the motorcycle, grocery shopping, playing football... in some cases, you could argue that you can attach a bigger camera like a gopro to a head mount or to the backpack strap, but in many situations, it's just annoying to go through the process of securing a camera, doing something, removing the camera, doing something else, and so on. As a full time youtuber maybe one has extra time to spend on setting up the gear, but for a majority of people, if it is cumbersome to set up, then it's not fun and people simply don't record anything. I do see value in this camera for this type of people and purpose! Cheers!
I've used gopros for quite a while. I did get this Go 3 a few days ago. Still getting used to it but so far so good. I didn't get it for image quality. If I want the best image I'll use my Sony. I just wanted something small, reliable, and good battery. And so far it's delivering. I got sick of how buggy the GoPro's were, they just aren't reliable.
Go Pro lost me as a company a long time ago. 3 cameras all of which were junk within a year. My Go 2 has been faultless for what I use it for. Walk and Talk and Timelapse. The overheating isn’t a problem because I film short clips, not hours of footage.
Agree. Go3 selling point is the size factor. Show a camera better for this size? This review is picking because he's comparing it to bigger cameras. Not a good review
I fell for it! I got one the first day. I had the Go2 and upgraded to the 3. I walk 8 miles on the Greenway every day, and I use the magnetic pendant mounting. I use it as a "dash cam" to quickly catch shots that I might otherwise miss. I also carry a X3 on an invisible selfie stick. But I almost always shoot stuff on my walk with my iPhone.
You forgot the "This is a game changer" line that all of the hyped-up youtube promoters use with every new launch. I love your work and even enjoy watching reviews for stuff that I have absolutely no interest in ever buying purely for entertainment value. Keep up the great work!

Precessional wedding film maker here using Leica sl2-s for work. I have a go 3 and I love it with an 8 week old baby capturing day to day stuff and editing within the insta 360 app is so easy. I had the one r with the Leica 1” sensor and absolutely hated it. The go 3 is brilliant
No, I didn’t fall for this one. It’s amazing that all the “fan-boy” videos agree how great it is even though there is not removable storage, battery, and the resolution is low. A non-starter for me. Thanks for the sanity.
I was waiting for some pros with all the cons that were listed. Like, just for example, how it can fit inside a toaster for a bottom up shot, or how it’s small enough you could even pop it in your mouth if you’re careful enough not to choke on it. Though I’m not sure how sanitary that would be. I feel like those uses will be overdone, and maybe a little cringe, but they’re just some examples of the versatility this little guy has. And then if you absolutely need it for a GoPro type of situation, just pop it in the action pod. Or just pull out the GoPro and put the little one away for a while. There’s a lot of creative things that the Go 3 can do that this video just didn’t really go over. And that’s okay, this channel is really more geared towards professionals. But I also think professionals generally keep many different options open to them. The Go 3 will work fine for people just getting started on TH-cam or for more experienced creators who want a 3rd or 4th camera angle in their videos or just for getting shots that were previously hard/impossible. That’s what excites me most about this camera, and I can stick with my Sony camera or GoPro for other things.
I don't even bother watching all the TH-cam reviews the day a new action camera comes out. I just wait for the inevitable Casey vlog to help sober the mind.
They had to pay out a ton to creators. There were so many videos all released the same day. I got the Insta360 X3. It’s not stable and crashes too much to use it for anything important. I’ll probably end up getting a GoPro to replace it.

I'm starting to think it is never coming. DJI just announced that on July 25th they have a launch event for the DJI Action 4 which had the 3 just last year and the 2 the year before that... all 3 of which released AFTER the Pocket 2.
Pocket is dead. If you wonder why there no one copying that stuff except feiyue or xiaomi, could mean the market doesn't really favors the form factor. insta360 releases link instead as webcam
I own the Go 2 and Go 3. They're mission-specific items for when I need something small and discreet. And screenless for when a screen is distracting to people around me. These can be used in a pinch for tabletop recording of self, or magnetically attached to all sorts of things that would need clamps and rigging for my other cameras. They're fun to use. And I had the disposable funds (well, sorta). So, not everything has to be the good-at-everything-only-camera. But I enjoy your witty curmudgeon-ness every video, both when you're the voice in the wilderness giving pearls of wisdom to all and the days when I wonder if you're just out to be a PITA :)
@@RajinderYadav This engineer says that technical superiority does not necessarily mean more fun to use. I use good mirrorless gear, and phones, for work. I find the Go series to be quirky and interesting and fun when I am not at work.
I dont understand why people really need to know whether its the best or not. Just check the features and specs. If it suits your needs then buy it. If it is not then dont buy. There is no "the best camera" guys. None.
Brilliant as always, I didn't fall for this one. What annoys the most is that all major channels are promoting this. As the next big thing in camera technology. I only buy a camera based on real users.
I bought it and its awesome, casual vlogs for your social media in 2k thats all you need! Weight and size is a game changer. If you are a youtuber and need something more advanced then definitely you ll be getting a proper gear along with other cameras!
Their 360 cameras are pretty cool. The software & mics have gotten better and you can quick edit. I’ll watch the videos and think I could use that somehow but I really don’t need it.
Great video! First I've seen of yours! Funny, witty, interesting, clever, nice editing... Anyway, embarrassed to say that I bought an Insta360 Go 2 almost a year ago, and have had plenty of problems, sending it back and forth, having had both the camera and charging case replaced (sigh), still not working well. When it does (did?) it isn't (wasn't) bad. I suppose Insta360 could continue replacing it for another decade for free, and while it's gone for a month or two, I won't experience any problems with it- that way I won't have to complain or remember that it even exists! I guess the company has only been around for a few years, so perhaps it's still going through growing pains. Anyway, I have a Go Pro too (a 10) and it works flawlessly, as well as a Sony a7C, my favourite. I noticed you're in Toronto, I live in Streetsville, if you know of that place. I prefer to think of it as Stressville. Anyway, again- great video!
Love your point of view but this one I felt is off the mark. The size of the GO series really does make a difference and for creative story telling the camera simply can go where other cameras can't. Try to put a GoPro in the bottom of a toaster slot as you put the bread in... you can't. The GO 3 with the Action Pod basically combines that small size with the ability to get GoPro battery life (and actually longer) when you can accept the GoPro form factor size (such as when you put the camera on a selfie stick.) *Most* people only want to bring ONE camera with them and see the GO 3 as the "have your cake and eat it too" because it can be a "tiny" cam OR a GoPro style cam all in one compared to enthusiasts who might have a 360 cam, a GoPro style cam, a small cam, and a mirrorless too. As for quality... it's worse, but the 2.7K in bright light isn't so much worse that for *most* you can't tell without a side by side. Anyone who films a sunny beach and water travel vlog on a GO 3 and posts it TH-cam... no one is going to think "this video quality stinks." I think most would struggle to tell the difference between GoPro 5.3K footage on a 4K TH-cam feed and GO 3 2.7K footage up-rezzed (perhaps even with AI enhancement from your promoted Topaz AI product) on a 4K TH-cam feed. It isn't for everyone, it might not even be for most... but if you want ONE camera, the greatest flexibility, and are willing to trade some high-end image quality to have it that most won't notice anyway? GO 3... isn't that bad.
I love the Insta360. It’s great for what I do for capturing shots when I’m busy. Not so much the 3. I bought the original one and sold it on eBay after a day 😂 Time for a board meeting me thinks.
@@JimiCanRead The Insta360 GO was MUCH lower resolution and had poor image quality and terrible battery life (less than 15 minutes!) The GO 2 and GO 3 are similar in image quality but the GO 3 has better color science. both give a very good 2.7K image in good lighting that isn't easily distinguishable from GoPro 5.3K footage when you view them on compressed media like TH-cam 4K feeds... side by side? Yes. But straight video? No. The GO 3 is a very good camera if you have need of the flexibility of its small size. (I have the GO 3 obviously and also the Hero 11).
I have the go 2 and I have a GoPro. For action shots on my MTB I prefer the go 2. So for vlogging I would not use it, I'll give you that. For the rest....
I take these cameras apart and it’s funny watching the components change over a short period of months. Even the design of the pcb changed on the Go2 .
Do you own more than one camera? Why? Can't you do absolutely everything you want with one camera? A woman put the Go3 in a rocket she built and sent it up to 34,000 feet. It would fit and was light enough not to affect her rocket significantly. And the video quality that the end user (us) sees on TH-cam is just fine. I do not own one. Might someday.
You are CORRECT. Insta360 is still in the GoPro Hero 8 generation with their R, RS cameras. They have nothing that can shoot 4K120p. Insta360 are B roll gadget gimmick kings, that's it. GoPro and DJI Osmo Action are all alone in the modern straight view action camera world.
They advertise it with 2.7K, but FreeFrame Mode which has the amazing stabilization and cropping to any format is the same 1440p as on go2. If sensor size is the same and they don't do some pixel binning, it means smaller pixels and more noise. One unsponsored reviewer pointed out a fatal flaw, exporting files from that thing often introduces an audio desync. Still a fun camera that you can put on a 3m selfie stick and get fake drone footage, which you already could do with go2
There is a catch though that is complicated. The way GO 3 calls 2.7K and 1440p is not industry standard. They actually undersell the 1440p which is much taller than normal on their sensor so the difference between 1440p and 2.7K is very, very small. What this means is 2.7K isn't much of an enhancement over their 1440p on the GO 2 at all... much less than you would think (less than 5% more pixels) which is bad... but at the same time 1440p isn't really that much worse than 2.7K either on the GO 3 so use the 1440p free frame without fear... it really doesn't look worse lol.
I’m not sure why this is even a thing since insta360 have the One RS modular nightmare that I regrettably bought. This is worse in every way. I prefer the Dji Osmo pocket, there I said it!
I like the webcam version for streaming, but thats not the cinema... Also i think the reason why everyone is going 4:3 with the 5k files is because of vertical format content. You can easily make a 9:16 and 16:9 video for multiple platforms with just cropping and not having to redo the shots. I wish sony would do this
They paid so much for the marketing on this one...Imagine if they had done the same for the insta sphere? we would have probably gotten an 8k 360 drone camera by now...
So many reviews extoll just how GREAT this crappy piece of plastic video shit is...Maybe if we Topaz the Insta360 Go 3 video files to death, the video files will look halfway decent??
I think this critique should be geared more toward their R action cams. These Goes are meant to be worn, hands free, and inconspicuous. It also has software that edits for you. For a traveler that wants to live more in the moment and not worry about the camera or it's settings or editing then this is the lightest and smallest you can get. As long as DR is good and image is in focus, I can live in the 1080 HD space, I thought Kasey used to preach the same... Go back to your roots Kasey! Start reviewing retro handy cams! 🍄📹
I have the Go2 and like it, but won't be fooled into upgrading to a more expensive update that doesn't at least do 4k... Now the DJI Action 4 rumors are spinning and have me curious!
No offense but you are missing the point. Action camera is for action, on helmet, on body, then smaller = better, lighter = better. If you looking for more quality, you can go to other cams.
For the price it came for at that time go 2 was the best tiny action cam for the buck. I did some fun hikes last year and really wanted to capture good moments by still being in the moment. 2k videos(on bright days) still look good on TV. I agree Go3 is a ripoff, I would take 4k video over slight battery upgrade and screen for the price hike. Or if they added screen for more or less the same price
I'm loving your review style, it's hilarious and I totally agree insta 360 has moved into the scaming zone. even their ace pro is not much better than the x3 in real life results...just paper spec lies, over priced crap. I love my insta 360 x3, I think that was the last model the release before getting all scamy with specs, hype and marketing to pump up sales new released that are nothing exciting.
You know I'm not sure but I thought it was a back illuminated stacked sensor (BSI) probably around 50 MP or in laymen terms two pigeon feet🤣👍 Photography rules 😍👍
As an owner of the Insta360 Go 2. that I bought about 1 1/2 year ago. Pro: It is small I really like the Hat Mounted view is better for hands on videos. It's Weather proof/resistant so It's a camera I can take in any condition and shoot with. Cons: Shooting 1080p it overheats in 10-15 minutes. This is was my first camera purchase that i was not wow'd with. All that said, I still use it on a weekly basis but will not be upgrading.
The GO 3 has fixed the overheating issue for what it is worth... you can now record 1440p or 2.7K with no duration limit other than battery life (up to 170 minutes) or the capacity of the storage (the 128 gb is in excess of the battery life... up to 6 hours at 2.7K.)
Have one and it works just fine for what Im using it for. Its just the super complainers that are never happy about anything. Lots of other people like it. I'm willing to bet its a bigger percentage than the ones that don't. "But its because they don't know any better". Lol. Give me a break.
My Go 2’s picture certainly looks better than the picture on your video today, did you have a fish eye lens on? looked ridiculous your face was stretching forward

you don't do this with your phone, much better quality and 4k videos, honestly. i think you're lying to youself it more fun to use.
@@RajinderYadav This engineer says that technical superiority does not necessarily mean more fun to use. I use good mirrorless gear, and phones, for work. I find the Go series to be quirky and interesting and fun when I am not at work.
Now this…is the cinema.
Oh, I’ve waited so long for this I haven’t even watched it, but the excitement has me falling off my couch with my phone in my hand
The slowMo in this has done more to convince me that I want slowmo than all your other vids combined
5:14 cinema was ours !!!😂
YOU GOT THAT RIGHT
LIED TO ABOUT EVERYTHING
REALITY IS CLASSIFIED
Thank you. I was really thinking about picking one up to play around with instead, I pulled out my old GoPro Session. You saved me $350US
Love your point of view but this one I felt is off the mark.
Welcome to Linen nerd camera reviews channel
That slowmo bird flyby is amazing?
3:03 - so glad you weren't 10 seconds ahead in your script here.. that could have been awkward
I love the Insta360. It’s great for what I do for capturing shots when I’m busy.
Not so much the 3. I bought the original one and sold it on eBay after a day 😂
Time for a board meeting me thinks.
What’s the difference between your one and the 3
@@JimiCanRead The Insta360 GO was MUCH lower resolution and had poor image quality and terrible battery life (less than 15 minutes!) The GO 2 and GO 3 are similar in image quality but the GO 3 has better color science. both give a very good 2.7K image in good lighting that isn't easily distinguishable from GoPro 5.3K footage when you view them on compressed media like TH-cam 4K feeds... side by side? Yes. But straight video? No. The GO 3 is a very good camera if you have need of the flexibility of its small size. (I have the GO 3 obviously and also the Hero 11).
Lol it's the size of your thumb.... You're far too harsh. But to each there own. And worst specs? It's 2.7k
The LSD 5.3k 960fps Pidgeon looked awesome!
5:45 this was dope!
I use a cinema film camera as my action cam.
Someone make a comparison go1-3, what i seen, 3 looks bad. go 2 is ok.
Still hate lego cam's
I have the go 2 and I have a GoPro.
For action shots on my MTB I prefer the go 2. So for vlogging I would not use it, I'll give you that. For the rest....
I take these cameras apart and it’s funny watching the components change over a short period of months. Even the design of the pcb changed on the Go2 .
I love my go2, i also have an action3 which is excellent
A little random but.. at 8:53, did you use the Deadly Premonition sound effect?
Linen is high vibe frequency energy thing ive heard, good in the tropics also, might invest.
I love my Go3. have had a blast with it so far.
ty for emotional pigeon ❤
Can't even swap batteries in the the dock thing...
Yes I've not fall for it yet, but after watching your TH-cam, I'm gonna get the Go 3 now. Thanks.❤
This video looks like a wes anderson movie at points. the cinema is certainly ours
The Insta360 Go 3 will soon be forgotten, no one will be selling them NIB for more than their original price in five years like the Sony FDRX3000.
I NEEDED to hear all of this
Do you own more than one camera?
I couldn't figure out if I should pinch to zoom TH-cam or not on this video the aspect ratio is everywhere and nowhere at once.
Insta 360 are all toy cameras, try a crop on any of them.
Nature WHAT Photographer?!?! Wtf
I used my insta360 go 2 for a water park visit and it was amazing.
It’s all marketing.
I see you're using the Ulanzi Falcam F38 Quick Release Backpack Strap Clip. Thoughts on that versus the Peak Design Capture Clip?
Thank you!
He's been lied to about everything -- except linen.
Did you get one and try it?
The linen 😂. Not bad or anything, just a noticeable change. Thank you for the content and glad your eyes are doing better 😊
Cool smurf-colorgrade you got there for the slomo shots buddy.
Refreshing to see this here.
Now the DJI Action 4 rumors are spinning and have me curious!
aren't these rumours just a bunch of huey? they never turn up. where's the pocket 3? rumour said april, but april came and went
What's up with all the inflatable couches? Mac and Dennis in town?
No offense but you are missing the point. Action camera is for action, on helmet, on body, then smaller = better, lighter = better. If you looking for more quality, you can go to other cams.
6:15 I KNEW!
Kasey is not human: he's Andorian!
I'm buying the GoPro 11 tomorrow but I worry about the right audio solution? Can you help?
Read the pinned comment for the gear I connect to the gopro.
@@cameraconspiracies thanks 👍🙏
I would like less pixels and a bigger battery box and HD ready.. Who needs HD.. 🎉
Get the Go3 and review it. I think you'll like it.
You know I'm not sure but I thought it was a back illuminated stacked sensor (BSI) probably around 50 MP or in laymen terms two pigeon feet🤣👍 Photography rules 😍👍
Hahaha you crack me up...love it...subscribed 😂😂
came for the conspiracy, stayed for the content. especially the music
Kasey, are you getting the sony zv-e1?
you also need a linen camerabag. you can't just combine linen with polyester... must hurt in the evening
I|m just doing some research on this camera, but that intro was fkin 11/10
Delightfully weird. I'm subbing even though I'm not especially into cameras.
As an owner of the Insta360 Go 2. that I bought about 1 1/2 year ago.
Pro:
It is small
I really like the Hat Mounted view is better for hands on videos.
It's Weather proof/resistant so It's a camera I can take in any condition and shoot with.
Cons:
Shooting 1080p it overheats in 10-15 minutes.
If it’s stable actually is a great camera because you don’t need 8k for anything basically
Really glad I found this channel 🎉
My Go 2’s picture certainly looks better than the picture on your video today, did you have a fish eye lens on? looked ridiculous your face was stretching forward
