I've noticed the immense success of these black led movies in recent years but to think a single studio was behind the financing of these movies is shocking. Also it's a little embarrassing for other more established studios to not see the current trend.

One key lesson to be learned from Charles King's career is that you must tell your own story, nobody can do that for you.
Here's why: Initially, they won't want to, and can be convinced. But after being convinced, they'll still get it wrong cos it's not their story so they don't know it. They haven't lived through it, and are ill-equipped to tell it.
In conclusion, minority groups need to mobilize and tell their own stories instead of expecting majorities to do it for them.
This also applies to the individual. If you find you're being misrepresented or underrespresented, the solution is to improve your communication skills and find more ways to express yourself. Noone has lived your life, nor can they read your mind. You bring a unique perspective to the table so do your best to present it.

    Thank you Bloomberg.
If society keeps seeing black people in movies as the bad guy or criminal being pursued by the white hero, you can not blame them for profiling each other in streets on the basis of what they see in the stories told on their tv sets, that also by the way, delivers the news. No wonder why we have Karen's policing black people everywhere.
If they keep seeing East Indians or Arabs as the suicide boomer of the movie in the theater - then what do you expect?
Not all black people are genius at sport and music alone. Some are intellectuals, leaders, problem solvers, visionaries, scientist, nerds...etc...I have one at home...they too deserve a platform, not just for their benefit, but for the benefit of society.
Again, thank you Bloomberg for your service to society as a whole with this piece. You always deliver.
