It was a beautiful day today in Chiang Mai. Blue sky and fresh air. Walked around the city for hours, I guess time will tell.

March and April are brutal, not due to the burning of the fields, for me it’s the heat and humidity. 🥵

Chiang Mai and burning season go together like peanut butter and jam on a sandwich!
Yeah, sometimes you get lucky, but know that it's gonna happen off and on. Pray for rain and hope that it isn't as bad this time around.
The other good news is that you CAN escape to the islands...hop a plane or ride a train to get outta there.

We were in ChM during this time now in 2019 (Jan-Sep) some days it was over 500/ we were wearing masks going to school at Pantip plaza 4th floor, and people looked at us as we were mad, we did not mind. Just wanted to protect ourself. We LOVED ChM then even though and still do, would not hesitate to come again even if it was bad air..so much that makes it worth it!

Every place has good and bad things about it. Chiang Mai is beautiful and a wonderful place to visit and live. Obviously each person is different with their own health and physical sensitivities. If people are worried about they should try to experience it before locking in a move here.

I was scheduled to stay there February 5th to 7th but I had to postpone until late March because immigration needed my passport all that weekend for my extension

    Hey I enjoy your vids.
Question. What visa are you on? My tourist visa expires in a few days so I’m looking to see how everyone stays for multiple years without retiring. Thanks. 🙏🏻

Good news about the burning season. ASEAN announced a goal of reducing it by 35 % next year. Also a very high fed. Judge wrote government an asking what their short and long term plans were for reducing the smoke. A cannot believe you did not report this.

Although, Thailand Is Heavily Dependent On Tourism, It'd Take A Consistent Mass Exodus Of Tourist During The Burning Seasons, In Order To MAYBE Prompt The Government To Address The Matter.😷
Moreover, Because The Majority Of Regions In Thailand Are Affected From Bangkok To Chang Mai To Pattaya, Addressing It Internally Will Potentially Give Them More Cache, When They'll Need To Address It With The Other Neighboring Countries.

Chiang Mai is worse than Bangkok because many of the farmers are non Thai id holder. Thai farmers got subsidies to convert to modern farming practices but so many villages and farms are in the hands of the ex Burmese who lacking Thai ids get no help from the government. Several chiang mai based ngos try to help but Covid dropped fundraising efforts. A contact in one shared intel that the farmers themselves struggled with last years rampant burning so this year may be better for that reason. I would often go to Cm around Chinese new year got 10 days and could still run up doi pui doi suthep etc but could not bid it fir much more than that.

I really don't remember it being much of an issue when I lived there in 06/07/08. Probably because there were no youtubers or Facebook groups full of a certain nationality (you know who you are) whinging about it online. People just had to get on with it.

you may have gotten lucky those years, when i was there in apr 2019 it was really really bad, (i've since learned to avoid the burning months). it's prob the only factor keeping me away from staying long term in CM, can't be good for health. agree with jon that pollution in bangkok is bad too. if i moved to thailand long term i would prob choose Phuket/Krabi.
