Really jealous of the people who were there. Great vibes and fantastic musicians. Now that I think of it I don't think I have seen any of the UR people live, shame on me!
I like when jazz is danceable. My only complaint -- and I'm being very picky -- is that the keyboard player sounds a bit uneven. My guess is that he's playing on something without weighted keys. That's what it sounds like, anyway. Nonetheless, it's great to see a huge crowd grooving to jazz.
+Greg Pagel it's typical for jazz musicians to play in a rare key and deviate from the standard 4/4, most people are not used to hear such music, maybe it's that what you mean. listen to Thelonious Monk and you will understand my argument :)
frederik herremans I'm actually quite an avid jazz listener. :) This keyboard player does play "outside the changes" from time to time, but he does not stray from the 4/4 time signature. What I'm hearing is--and it's pretty subtle--is an unevenness in lines which he seems to be attempting to play smoothly. Not like the unexpected accents in Monk's playing, (especially since his lines are nothing like Monk's), but like a good piano player on a bad keyboard. He plays long lines like most bebop pianists, but he doesn't play evenly the way, say, Lennie Tristano or Wynton Kelly did. Like I said, it's subtle, but just enough to bother me a tiny bit. Probably because the performance is otherwise outstanding.
What's the first song they're playing ? I'm aware about the two that ends their live but the first one is groovy as well and i don't know its name / artist.
+Joos soundrebound UR makes techno. They make house music. They make electro. Stop worrying about the classification. I think people use techno generically when describing them and the Detroit sound.
Techno can be soulful the producers today just dont know how to feel. The brothers who invented this music come from soul

Why? This is more jazz than techno.
i think joe c is just a techno listener and just don't know much about the influences of other genres on techno.
