I think they were desperately trying to get the ratings back to the heights of the Jordache storyline (which, ultimately, they never managed to do), so they just kept going darker and more OTT
Watching these back, I’ve noticed how stuck-up she became once she decided to be a “girl boss”. Imagine having a pop at your own Dad and his mates for “lowering the tone” while celebrating a stag night? That was pretty annoying to me, watching the snobby mare acting like Lady Muck.

Sin: “We’ve got a card from Jenny: ‘Congratulations on the nuptials Mick, think of you everyday and I’m optimistic about getting early parole. I’LL GET YOU!!!’
Max (to Susannah): “You’ve been drinking?” Yes, and you’ve been drinking wine with Jacqui and that rep in the restaurant. You then drove to the scene of the accident and the hospital after that.
And why did Ron feel the need to fill in Jackie Corkhill on the news of Matthew and Emilys condition? And when Bing and Julia arrive at the hospital, Bing tells Max and Susannah that Jacqui Dixon wrote to them to tell them what happened. Couldn’t she have called around to Number 7 to tell them in person? Or even a phone call. Sorry, rant over!
No Jacqui. You and Max are not “members of the same gang” now. You part-own a rather garishly decored cafe/bar and Max owns a top-quality expensive restaurant. As if Jacqui knows anything about fine wine 😆
Despite Nat and Georgia's Incest that J.C Bradley character is a nasty piece of trash by looking down his nose on the Simpson family and passing judgements. 😡
The doctor is played by David Fleeshman, Sue Jenkins (Jackie Corkhill)'s real life husband.
Never knew that until I read this. We learn something new every day.
I think Ollie is the only character who seems to have an 'evil' switch for an acting range lol
The smug geht!
That was some seriously difficult viewing. Heavy stuff
The car crash scene was difficult for Susannah. Having to act with extras with the charisma of one of Mick Johno’s pizza bases.
Brookie had some heavy storylines during this period,Matthew and Emily dying,Gladys's terminal cancer and Nat and Georgia's incest storyline.
@MichealHoare-v thanks for the spoiler 👍🏿

Yes quite depressing. I found the storyline with Matthew and Emily dying hard to watch
Jackie Dixon, arms folded so superior, vile creature.
She was also good at huffing and puffing noises.

Vile character
Someone who's highly shaggable but not likable is a stock character in soaps.

Susanna was certainly true to her word - R.I.P Matthew & Emily
She did warn them…
Paramedic 1 to Susannah: “Eh, shut it soft lass!”
This was heartbreaking 💔
Nobody asks Mo how Rosie and Eddie are? You’d think that one local resident would be interested 🤔
They weren't particularly liked

The police took him in the police car
No he didn't 😂
@@lillygraceairey464he obviously hasn't watched it properly 🙄
The car crash scenes were really hard to watch. Karen Drury is so good.
Holy moly the double child death was pretty bold stuff...would never happen in a soap these days
How did Ron know Matthew had died before Bing and Julia?
Good point? 🤔
And why did Ron feel the need to fill in Jackie Corkhill on the news of Matthew and Emilys condition?

Just goes to show Gladys Ambrose could handle dramatic scenes as well as comic ones
How would Jenny Swift, sat in her cell, even know that Mick was getting married?
54:06 really unconvincing crash.
If you thought Mo was the fattest character in Brookside - meet Karen from Grant’s restaurant.
Joseph and Today TV 😊
We never saw Bobby Grant leave Brookside Close. He could still be living in the attic of Number 5.
He lives in Florida that's who Terry whent to see.
@@007beck9 I don’t buy that. Barry and Bobby Grant are living in the attic of Number 5

Where was Susannah’s posh Saab convertible?
@@Lee81uk Jimmy knicked it 😆
Julia seems more distraught than David
David's an old-fashioned bloke, he's not going to show his emotions in public
Rosie Banks has returned to pinch more food from Grant’s restaurant freezer.
How did Ron know Matthew was dead before max told David 🤔

Stacey clearly has zero interest in wine tasting .
Or acting! 🤪

It would be cool if Bobby Grant walked into Grant’s restaurant: “ aye aye Maxie, I want a plate of your best scran soft lad”

Can kind of see why he was so nasty to them because of his daughter but he was a prat in general anyway
JC did the freakshow a favour by cancelling their tenancy. I would have let them move in 1st and THEN gone round there telling their neighbours.
