    NICE REVIEW! I agree. February 11, 2018 - I've tested pretty much all of the vacuums made by Ryobi in the past 60 days. The P714K hand-held dust buster; the P718K the stick vacuum (thee Strut); the P770 6-gallon wet/dry vacuum; the P713 (we like this and kept it because it was sold as a tool and has a crevice attachment) dust buster; and finally the P3240 wet/dry vacuum.
    THE P3240 - I love this little P3240 and like it better than the large one, the 6 gallon P770. The P770 is really cool though and it works well. But for our purposes and sizing it is simply not as ideal as the P3240 for what we need in a vacuum. The P3240 is small enough yet still powerful enough. The P3240 stores really easily and can be put in the back of our car on trips if we want to use it to clean up the car as we travel. The P770 is indeed a little more powerful but it also eats through the battery time quickly. The larger P770 also does not have a blower port so I think that is kind of a miss.
    Surprisingly the smaller P3240 has both the vacuum port and a blower port. Both of these functions on the P3240 (the vacuum port and the blower port) for the money and size work extremely well. The P3240 is a little bulky carrying around a a hi vacuum around the home but not a big problem especially if you are working close to the debris anyway. This vacuum honestly has similar suction to a corded Craftsman 2.0 gallon wet/dry one I had. It is quieter slightly. This unit may have more suction actually. I use our P3240 with a 4.0 One plus lithium and I get about 45 minutes total run time if I go straight through a big cleaning. The more you stress the suction, the shorter the run time. So for example, the wet pull is going to take more motor effort and thus use more amperage quicker than picking up Cheerios off a hard floor. Our run time is enough for three separate 10 to 15 minute jobs around our home.
    I'm happy Ryobi respected past Ryobi battery and charger owners and they sell this P3240 as a tool only. I hate when Ryobi sells new tools ONLY with the batteries, inflating the cost to those who already have enough batteries and quick chargers.
    THE P714K hand-held dust buster is a really nice little vacuum (the new version of the P713 I guess) but is sold with a smaller battery (1.3 ah) and a terribly slow built-in charger. Worst part it has no fine crevice extension or attachments. My experience with it though confirmed it was excellent suction wise but was also extremely sensitive turning on and off with very slight bumps. The P714k would be a fantastic vacuum if it had attachment options. As such you cannot get to the areas of your car without a crevice tool or hose attachment. The end of this vacuum (the P714K) seriously needs a longer snout or a crevice tool attachment that fits the end of the cowl.
    THE P718K - As far as the new Model P718k, Ryobi's entry into a stick vacuum (called the Strut), I'm very impressed with this "stick vacuum". It works great, is quieter than I thought it would be, feels really well built. Honestly though I am waiting for Ryobi to buckle down and also sell this one optionally as a tool only, which Ryobi, upon calling them, says they have no plans to do. But somehow I think Ryobi will have to change their mind on that or else they will be very limited in sales. That vacuum, the P718k, is the latest motor, a brushless, and can really suck! It has great suction, and you can tell right away the motor is going to last.
    Anyway, I digress, the P3240 wet/dry vacuum here is a very well made vacuum, is really durably made, a nice weight, nice balance and the handle is strong. It has almost perfect accessories. Great seal on the debris tank. Has a blower port also. I'd rate it as one of the very best cordless vacuums I've tried. We are using it strictly as a dry vacuum unless absolutely needing a wet pick-up. The cleanup or emptying is very simple. We open it up outside and blow it off with a blower. Keep the filter clean and this will likely last a long time.

    Just picked up the new 1gal $50 and the 3gal $99 vs. M18 Packout 2.5gal $179; they're all on sale right now. I'll adapt them to fit my packout cases, home owner, not a pro so this will be handy around house, car, and remodels.

    It’s awesome low priced and convenient to use for small vct tile floors. I just bought 2- 9.0 p194 batteries so I’ll have a longer battery life than the 4.0’s . I got mine for 79 bucks on sale. Now their 119.00.

  • @xyrzmxyzptlk1186
    @xyrzmxyzptlk1186 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Mine has decent but not powerful suction. The box says it flows 45 cubic feet/minute. That figure is pretty optimistic. It seems to deplete the smaller batteries fairly quickly too. The crevasse tool could fall out of it’s holder so keep an eye on it. Excellent build quality and I like the size of it, this thing is tough! 🔋 ⚡️

    Good job showing the people who might consider it as a good thing to use for small jobs like myself because I work as a maintenance person in a grocery store setting so I’m usually working during business hours so I don’t want cords causing dangerous situations for customers or employees. I looked at Dewalt, Milwaukee, ridgid but because of cost or the fact that I don’t own any ridgid batteries but I have ryobi batteries as well as Dewalt and Milwaukee. I think I’ll go with ryobi. Thanks for doing this video.👍👍

    I had high hopes for this vacuum! After owning it for two months though the suction has gone down. I use it for cleaning the truck, sucking up cat litter that the cat tracks all over, mostly little house projects. I haven't sucked up any water yet. I have noticed that now the the suction is about half of what it used to be with a fresh 4 amp battery. If I have an extension wand on it and the wide attachment it has a hard time sucking up dry cat food. I am back to using the broom and Ryobi dustbuster. The only thing I would ad to the design of this is a pour spout or smooth edge on the inside so if you do have to empty water out its a little more smooth.

    • @ToolReviewZone
      @ToolReviewZone  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Nathan, do you think the filter could be clogged up? If not, I would take it back and exchange it for another unit as it should not be doing that at all. I do like your idea on the smooth edge though as it would make it much easier to empty. Thanks for the comment bro!

    • @NathanRChristie
      @NathanRChristie 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's what I was thinking, I tried pulling the filter out and a lot of material (cat hair) fell out. Cat hair is a killer but I was hoping it would handle it ok. Your probably right though, I should swap it out and try it again. I love Ryobi tools and never had a bad experience with them. By any chance have you seen anyone hook a shoulder strap to this? It would be kind nice with it being so light to be able to carry it over the shoulder. Thank you for making some great videos.

    • @ToolReviewZone
      @ToolReviewZone  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah bro, cat and dog hair will bring down a large shop vac if you get enough of it. I never seen anyone use a strap, but that's another great idea lol. You should apply for the Ryobi Engineering Department lol. Thanks for the awesome compliment to Nathan!

      CoolGuystufff Nope, unfortunately it didn't. I figure I may have gotten a defective one so I returned but they no longer offer it at my location. The sales associate said they were phasing them out in favor of keeping the larger 6gal model. I couldn't find this one, 3 gallon, anymore even on the website.

    💗👍Love this vacuum! Is there an adapter available so we can attach the crevice tool when using as a blower? Some people are bothered by the loose crevice tool holder. I'm fine with it but if you need it super tight just turn it 90 degrees sideways so the rectangular longer part becomes held more firmly by the plastic clip. Thanks 👍

    Got one of these a few weeks ago, and overall, I'm have been pleasantly surprised by it. I've used and gone through a lot of shopvac's sucking up everything from paint chips/dust to bilge water (nasty). While this doesn't have half the power as the vac's that I used in my past life, I expected this thing to blow (not in a good way, haha). Better build quality than I expected, better quality hose than more expensive vac's in its class, easy to use and transport. Biggest downside: its battery life is nowhere near what this guy is saying. My wife spent about an hour/hour and a half vacuuming mess out from the van (kid stuff), and went through two 3Ah batteries and a 4Ah batteries. You might get 20 minutes tops with a 4Ah. But again, I went into this purchase thinking it was going to be similar to their hand vacuum, which was absolutely terrible for being $20 cheaper in a kit. Good power and good to keep for the cars and the garage.

    • @xyrzmxyzptlk1186
      @xyrzmxyzptlk1186 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ll have to agree with Sneaky F about the battery life. I’m using a fairly small battery from my cordless drill, same size as the one in this video, and getting maybe 10 min run times on dry pickup. It would have to be less for wet pickup. And it shuts off suddenly when the battery reaches a certain level of depletion. They probably don’t want you to completely drain the batteries before recharging them. Same thing happens on the drill when it discharges. This thing really sucks debris and batteries too. 🔋 🔋 🔋 🔋 🔋 ⚡️

    Sorry to tell you this but your video was a bit off for me. I am particularly interested whether this thing has strong, medium or weak suction..especially on the carpet of your car. Plus, why is there not a brush head attachment. If I am hoping to use this thing on my truck carpet, it really need a brush head in order to get the little pieces of stuff tangled in the carpet. Overall, suction is my main interest. When you sucked the legos & stuff, they were on a smooth surface, not carpeted surface so that doesn’t really tell me much of how well this thing does on carpeted area. Thanks for the video anyways.

I never use it, it’s actually in my wife’s truck. I want to research first before I buy in the cordless line I will start switching too. Any advice is much appreciated.

    • @ToolReviewZone
      @ToolReviewZone  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Justin Carter Well, I am invested in the ridgid and ryobi line like you have mentioned. They are coming out with a ton of new tools this year for their batteries, and they are guaranteed for life which is huge for me. DEWALT is a great brand, but just seem to expensive for me. Ridgid is great for me, but if I was looking for top of the line stuff, and had a few extra buck, Milwaukee is as good as it gets. They are a bit pricey as well, but I have worked for some of the largest companies in the world, and they always use Milwaukee. The best thing about ryobi is they are very innovative and come out with some cool stuff. I'll have two more vids this weekend that you may think are pretty cool. Long story short, I'm a Ridgid, Ryobi and Milwaukee kida guy.

      The box says up to 45 cubic feet per minute. Naturally that’s pretty optimistic. I would describe the suction as adequate, but it won’t be sucking the chrome off any bumpers. It’s got about 1/2 the suction of my corded shop vac. Maybe a tad more.
