- The existence and Sundance showing of the DHMIS TV pilot was made very public back in 2018 and 2019. So where is it? Where is the Key to the City? WHERE IS MY METAL BOY?

They name dropped Clay Hill in the show just to say "That place doesnt exist anymore" AND IT WAS WILD
That was wild when I first saw that scene
I had to pause the video of that episode when that was said, I was like "Oh... OH NO! It's gone. X'D".
I WHEEZED when they did that
"It just shriveled up into nothing"
Wow that’s crazy that it was what was in that pilot
fr
I’m still holding out hope that Becky and Joe do a Alex Hirsch-esque scavenger hunt where it all leads to an upload of the pilot
Yeah
That really sounds like something they would do lol
an arg for this would be so damn cool
but how would they do it? Does it lead to a box full of VHS tapes containing the pilot? Or to a movie theatre that airs the pilot at a certain time? Or will the whole hunt be on the internet traveling from website to website to find the clues which leads to a website where you can watch the pilot?
Maybe they will upload the pilot on TH-cam
After watching the first season of the show, I'm kinda glad they abandoned the original concept? The claustrophobic, lonely vibe of these three people trapped in a simulation wouldn't work so well if there was a whole town full of people.
In my opinion it's kinda sad they abandoned clayhill because I Really liked The vibe The pilot gave off And the claustrophobic tone Of the actual show Definitely benefits of horror And makes it more faithful to the original Webseries But I still kind of miss The idea of a bigger space for these characters roam around in.
to be fair its a horror series so the claustrophobic and lonely vibe would be a good thing
@@randomdude9630 that’s why they scrapped the original show. Because it didn’t have that vibe.
I agree about the more intimate, lonely, claustrophobic vibe that they went with working better for this sort of surreal horror! I think it fits the series better on the whole, with the result, once it found its stride, really feeling like an extension of the web series, in a way that it sounds like the Sundance pilot couldn't have.
There were comparisons made to "South Park" for the Clay Hill setting, which I think are fair to make, and I'd also make some comparisons to "Peewee's Playhouse" as well: the result is a curious departure from the web series, which apparently included some brilliant character designs and catchy songs, but which I don't think would have served the series well over the longer haul.
Hopefully the Sundance pilot does get released to fans in some format eventually, though, just for the chance to see the elements that did work out in one way or another. An "interesting failure" from the DHMIS team is still better than most ordinary entertainment and art out there!
I feel it wouldn't feel claustrophobic at first.
But when with each episode we do the same song at the start, and every townsperson says the same thing, as if on a script it would begin to feel like the main trio are alone in this simulation.
There’s actually a reason the pilots been kept locked up , a lot of the people in the audience weren’t super into the pilot , becky and joe decided they did not like how it was going and scrapped the first version and the current one that’s gonna be on tv is a revision of the clayhill which may not even be called clay hill anymore , the current version is trying to recapture the indie feeling of the TH-cam series and be more ambiguous for theory fuel, they won’t be unloading the pilot because it doesn’t fit with what they want their fans to see
idk, from what I've heard and saw PLENTY of fans want to see the pilot, and the audience seemed to really enjoy the episode when they watched it in Sundance considering how much they were laughing
They said they thought the pilot was too much like South Park by having it be a political commentary about government surveillance and having a load of side characters
There's actually a cameo of clay hill in EP 5 transportation
@@fernandolemus5965 yeah they mention it no longer exists , it’s been erased from canon
@@ColdplayDallas admittedly they do hold back on gore, yeah there’s like one gorey scene per episode but that’s about it
honestly kind of exciting that the pilot is lost media, it's the first time I've been able to watch something become lost media in real time (that i can recall)
You can watch most of it online fyi
@@201hastings Oh, I'm aware, but it's still super interesting that a large chunk of it is lost.
Actually there’s a reference to this town in the new series- when the group are driving away the red guy suggests to go there on the GPS, and the GPS responds with “sorry it doesn’t exist anymore, shriveled up i reckon” nice reference to tell us to stop asking about it
I hope that’s more of a “it’s not canon don’t worry about it”. Because even if they don’t like the direction it was going in, I would still like to see it.
@@videogamemusic2962 that’s literally what fire forget said.
@@videogamemusic2962 same
I had no idea what most of the comments were talking about, the only reference to Clayhill I saw was the writing on the chalkboard in Electricity!
@@kp12_art what writing?- I went to check and i couldn’t see anything
I'm really hoping this ends up being released somehow. Been wondering for literal years how this would've panned out.
What the, hey squeaks didn’t expect to see you here
Wtf
there's a reupload of most of it on yt (the climax doesn't have footage though, they just describe what happened)
I get that they want to distance themselves from it somewhat, it wasn't going in the direction they wanted for the show and reworked everything so much that this pilot just doesn't really fit anywhere in the original series or the new one... But...
It's a shame- no, a tragedy that a project like that that had so mcuh work put into it, from writing, puppets, animation, songs ect. will possibly never see the light of day. I just keep thinking about the animators who worked on that song sequence for example, who likely spent months on it only to never release, It's heart breaking to me. If they uploaded it somewhere with like a disclaimer or something saying "this isn't canon it was just a pilot" or something like that is all they need to do. But I guess only time will tell if we ever get to know :(
I do like the reference in the show “let’s go there” *points to clay hill* “we can’t go there that place doesn’t exist anymore”
I disagree, the show was made with the intention to be similar to the og youtube series.
I gotta admit, from the clips shown here, it's clear that they weren't skimping on the production value, which tbh a pilot could normally be forgiven for doing.
Clayhill is fun as a concept and to think about as an alternate universe, but ultimately I'm so glad they went for something that keeps up the vibe of the original series
The pilot will probably be leaked in like 7 years by some random guy that worked at blink, the reason they can't publish it because a company called super deluxe had the rights to it, but then they shut down and came back under a different name but without any of the rights to the previous films they made so like nobody can really post it legally. Also Channel 4 probably doesn't have it because they weren't involved in the production at all, let alone releasing it
(also that image of the real key is fake lol)
That's not why, they still showed the Pilot at Sundance 2019, a time when Super Deluxe was shut down. They're likely just giving the TV show time to gain traction until they consider releasing its Pilot.
I get why the creators weren’t happy with how it turned out, it was much more political than violent and kinda lost the feel of the original series, I do still want to see it just out of curiosity and to see all the work that was put into it, but I understand why they don’t want people to see it at least for now, the new series is airing and that’s what they want people to see
"It's more political" as if the whole original series wasn't a deep criticism of the whole television industry lmfao the new series is literally less political
@@SnoFitzroy go outside please
@@SnoFitzroy I’m not talking about the new series I’m talking about the pilot, which was a lot more openly political instead of just subtle hints like the original show. The clay hill pilot was literally supposed to be commentary on the Trump administration, you can’t get more political than that
@@SnoFitzroy it...wasn't. that's just a theoooory. aaaaa loser's theory
@@SnoFitzroy wanna touch grass there kid? Like every faction hate a corrupt Corporation, even incels and conspiracy theorists, doesn't make it deep. I enjoy Gumball cuz it's funny, is it smart? Maybe, is it political? No.
i love how they put so much work into that pilot and now no one can watch it
you can watch it on my channel. if you sort by most popular and set the video speed to .25x (I had to speed it up so it wouldn’t get copyright claimed)
Fr💀
This happens all the time, it's literally the entire point of a pilot.
@@Extraamazing every single tv show i have ever watched has aired the pilot as the first episode of the show, or, has included it as optional bonus material on streaming. Stop trying to act like youre smart on the internet while arguing something you are completely incorrect about
@@hatefuleyebrows not to be rude or anything but there are a lot of tv show pilot that went unaired or only seen by small groups and what not. there are like a bunch of youtube videos about it.

Red Guy's constant deadpan confusion about the random shit going on around him never fails to amuse me.
YO!!! theres a qna on the 28th happening with the trio (beck jo an bakery) and someone is going there to ask about the pilot so pls we should wait to see what they have to say
@@Masky-wz2wr somewhere in London, I think
Some of the characters in the pilot have appeared in the full TV series.
So canonically clay hill no longer exists this version of the series has been deleted
Honestly, I'm kinda glad that "the pilot" didn't become the DHMIS series. It just feels weird that DHMIS somehow has a coherent story and an ending that generally makes sense (at least from what I hear from the narrations in the video). If they added this story along with the random scenes of gore, violence and overall eeriness, I think it would just confuse the audience. Not in a mysterious tone but more of a "what is the eeriness of this scene trying to portray? Where is that sense of mystery?"
What I find hilarious is that in the new TV show, in one of the episodes Transportation. They (the show itself) state that Clay Hill no longer exists.
2:36 that picture is fake. The guy who leaked it got in trouble on the DHMIS discord for Posting fake leaks
I don’t mind creative changes but what I do mind is waiting three years to see a pilot and then being told that it just doesn’t exist anymore.
at least they followed their own moral, and kept the pilot locked up tight
As good is this pilot looks I can see why Becky and Joe might have decided to scrap it. The theming is a bit different from other episodes. Most installments have a simple idea at their core like "time" or "love", while the pilot has "the tendency for fear mongering to be used as pretense for an authoritarian police state"
It may also be more around the decision to keep them in the house when they're not having a lesson. Having a bigger community with characters that aren't teachers would mess with that, especially when considering the final episode.
I had absolutely no idea it had been scrapped until I finished watching the show which had nothing to do with Wakey Wakey, made for a slightly confusing watch 😂
Now that I heard this storyline I'm glad they went a different direction.
Wakey Wakey will eventually return to us when we get it on DVD, I am guessing as a bonus.
I hope they do release it eventually- with enough 'yo this aint canon' disclaimers for them to be satisfied haha
I saw the pilot some years ago from a recording someone made on his/her cellphone and with subtitles in spanish here on TH-cam. I don't remember a lot, but I think the episodes we have now are better than the concept they had on that time (of course, I'm not saying the pilot is bad, but the thing we have now is constructed in a very good way, and it is more similar to the webserie)
the real reason it was never released is because the creators received feedback that it didn't feel as claustrophobic as the original show and that was taking away from its original vibe
Normally it'd be in like, a DVD extras but I don't even know if they make purchasable versions of media before 😩
They did make a DVD. I dunno much about it because I'm new, but I DO know it existed at some point.
@@kimmy1325 the DVD was given out to some Kickstarter supporters when the series concluded
DVDs still exists. I usually buy them in my local dvd shop
DVDs still exist
I mean, Walmart, Target, FYE, etc are plenty proof of that.
@@ANewEra05 not being american is so sad rn, i am a begginer collector and i can only find dvds online or in thrift shops :(
This is a good video!! Hopefully one day this pilot will be available somewhere
It’s on my channel, sort by most popular and set the video speed to .25x (I had to speed it up so it wouldn’t get copyright claimed)
Since there's a TV show now, I think the pilot would be pretty awesome to have as a movie in the future.
The worst part of these bootleg recordings, there is this woman who i think is recording, keeps laughing for no reason, and that is kinda annoying ;-;
true, I do not know what happened to that woman 😐
She's on Tumblr, and she occasionally posts a leak, but RARELY.
Yeah, she would laugh at parts, that weren't even supposed to be funny
Maybe it's intentional? Sometimes when people upload copyrighted stuff like that to TH-cam, they'll mess around with the audio to try and prevent it from getting taken down by copyright bots, or at least help keep it up longer.
i thought it was just a bunch of kids
I went to a screening at the BFI the other day and there was Q&A panel with the creators. Somebody asked when we’ll see Wakey Wakey and they answered that it’s basically in the bin. Really sad to hear that tbh but do hope that it might get resurrected some how.
I'm glad they didn't go with the Wakey Wakey concept. The plot of the pilot was very basic and uninventive, like a regular children's cartoon, and the characters weren't being surprising in what they talked about. It would've been very mediocre and forgettable if they continued in that direction. I only watched the pilot a few days ago, after watching the Channel 4 episodes.
The new episodes were very funny and imaginative, like experiencing weird dream scenarios. I haven't laughed this much at a show for a long time. The really made a good decision.
They put it in a box and covered it with locks and buried it deep under the ground.
the most likely thing to me is they'll release it as a bonus feature for a dvd release of the entire series (obviously nothing like that has been confirmed yet but tings like that tend to be inevitable). i do really like the direction of the pilot and wish we got more of that in the actual tv series, the tone specifically. the tv series definitely has a more UK sense of humor but the web series and pilot had a broader appeal, i think. plus it doesn't have big ian which is simply devastating.
@@spellwasp2579 they did it before
@@spellwasp2579 I don't know if you know this but DVD releases are actually pretty common among TV shows.
Saddest thing about the pilot missing is that back in the day that was fine, it occurred all the time but we live in the digital age, there's frankly no excuse to lock up and potentially forget about media, it doesn't matter if it's not the intended outcome or whatever it's a valuable piece of the creative process so naturally if we were to get it then I hope it's like a DVD extra or something with opt in commentary so we can learn more about it and such.
I don’t think the creators would straight up delete the whole pilot. It had effort and money went into it, however Becky and Joe said they wanted to pretend this pilot didn’t exist. I’m on copium rn but I hope they do one day officially realise it
Yeah, u watched some bits of the pilot, and the only thing that came to mind is how odd the characters' voices sounded
Let's just form a payday heist and steal the tape (in game)
so after watching the tv episodes on youtube before they were taken down, it does seem that they don't want to totally forget the pilot's existence in full. the lamp guy from the Wakey Wakey thumbnail was in Friendship, Clayhill was referenced in Transport... we might still get some nods to the pilot with reused puppets or one-off jokes. i do think the original pilot idea would've been fun to explore, but i really enjoyed the season. it's just like the original youtube series...but longer.
i would love to see the pilot eventually though. if only because i can't stop thinking of MatPat saying "the duck is Donald Trump."
The duck being Donald Trump is so funny
Wouldn’t he be Boris Johnson?
@@duane6386 i'll be honest, i know Boris Johnson sucks, but i don't know enough about him to know for sure if the Duck in this pilot acts like him or not
Also! The yellow guys brother was a background character on Wakey Wakey
fun fact, it's entirely possible that Matpat(or at least the ghost writer that wrote that script for him) was RIGHT.
I knew I wasn't the only person who actively pronounces the acronym "DHMIS" as "duh-himmiss"
Im a Brazilian Guy, and here everyone who knows don't hug me, also talks like this "Duh-himmiss"
I think the Pilot gives more "story" and "plot" than the current one that we're having (not saying it's bad tho).
The one we had now just feels like a regular DHMIS episodes but 10 times entertaining.
(I'm not saying it's bad tho)
Lol, this video is great, thanks for all the research you did. Hope they can at least make it a dvd bonus feature or something (do they still do those?)
It was revealed in a panel in Britain where basically Becky and Joe do not like the excessive executive meddling that would've happened to the pilot if it was going forward. Basically, the executives wanted to have bigger celebrities and even TH-camrs guest-starring the episodes.
I'm really glad they dodge the bullet.
Imagine if the pilot becomes lost media in the future. like there’s a big hunt for it and everything
it literally current,ly is lost media. Do you even know what that phrase means?
@@SnoFitzroy Well I mean like lost media in a sense that even its existence is up for debate
@@SnoFitzroy Some people take it to mean media that isn't available to the public, but the vast majority of folks use it to describe media that seemingly doesn't exist anymore. Like, the early doctor who episodes and about 70% of all silent era films are lost media, because they are quite literally lost. Something like 100 Years or the dhmis pilot aren't considered lost media by most definitions, because they are archived and still exist.
Just because you personally can't watch something, doesn't mean it's gone missing. It's not lost, just not available. Just like Disney films that are in the vault aren't lost media.
The dhmis pilot isn’t lost,we are….
It was on TH-cam for a while…. In full quality. They person who posted it no longer has a channel bc I can’t find it in my “Watch later” anymore but I did see it, it was pretty great, and I guess I should have downloaded it when I had the chance. This was back May or so I wanna say….
Do you remember anything in it that isn’t shown in already found footage?
@@Loviedove__ hm. Nothing particular but it was a while ago.
They're never going to release it at this point.
The fans and the wider youtube community look into EVERYTHING they release for hidden meaning. They analyse everything to shit (something I'm certain the final episode of the TV series was criticising). They know if they release the pilot, even saying it's not canon, people will analyse it to shit anyway, and since it's clearly not the direction they ended up going with, they don't want that.
I appreciate you using a clip of Worthikids at the end, man is a legend.
...psst. yall. theres "slime tutorials" of the new episodes already!!!! whatever you do, DONT watch those ;)
seriously, dont watch em if you can support the creators. they deserve the money. be good.
Thank you for this. Now that you have no doubt seen the new six episodes, there are millions of easter eggs for the pilot within the show. Becky and Joe are so dang smart and love to f with us. So I can't help wonder if this was their plan all along. What do you think?
I will send the Bat signal for Ray Mona and see if she can find it!
You don't know how much I want one of the dhmis puppets.
Any of them.
I will literally take the saxophone man.
this pilot will definitely be released someday. We just have to keep fighting to make sure that day comes sooner than later.
Wow! The shy older brother from the brain friends is in the wakey wakey pilot?
If/when we get a DVD of the TV show, I hope that the pilot is included in the special features.
4:46 after all these years, pikmin 4 came out.🎉
Yay
welp, at least we got yellow guys shy older brother...
I find it ironic this happened, considering the overall message of the first season.
Someone showed me an interview (which i now can't find) where Becky and Joe pretty much said that they just didn't like the pilot or the direction that it went in. That might not be the *only* reason that they haven't made it available, but... it's a pretty good reason. Ultimately they don't have any duty to release work they're not happy with.
Another possibility is that it's being held back for a DVD extra or something.
The full episode actually came on TH-cam in decent quality a few months back I am pretty sure it got taken down though
I think that they might push that back until later but it might happen because of all the talk of neighbors and communities in the car episode but another thing is in the wakey wakey picture is the imaginary shy brother of yellow guy
I really want to listen to the wakey wakey song with hearing random people laughing. Because it’s a very catchy song
2:36 this image is fake btw!!
pikmin 4 line killed me🤣🤣
5:02 I think you mean “rules with an iron morgan”
I love lost content, and the pilot is such a fun thing to be added to the list 💖
If you can't wait for an american release and want to tide yourself over with something similar, i highly recommend getting into Wonder Showzen, it was a very similar series that most likely inspired DHMIS
it's been so great to grow up with this series and story!! i'm 18 now i think i was 11 years old when it first came out
I just got an idea of where they could put this pilot if they wanted to release it. They could put it on a DVD/Blu-ray release of the show as a bonus feature if they decide to make physical media for this show. Other shows have done this in the past and it would be great to have physical media of the show.
I thought it would have been really cool if in the transportation episode when yellow guy started dreaming he dreamt up the Wakey Wakey pilot but oh well that’s wishful thinking
a lot of TV shows don't like to upload their pilots, but maybe blink will be kind and grace us with an upload ❤️
You know I should have probably said something about this, I swore the first video I saw of you was first few Dhmis videos. I also swore you may have made a video about a character named mr chips from school house rock. (That isn’t important though.) I’m glad you made this summery because I had no clue how this pilot ended. Great job.
hope they show us someday been wanting to watch it for a long time. they could potbelly release it a a xmas special to celebrate there success.
Honestly you don’t know if the pilot was actually called wakey wakey or not it could’ve been considering it’s a return after years and the name just makes sense
I’ll probably explain this elsewhere, but I can probably guess the reason the pilot/subsequent serialised series was never made/released officially is a similar reason to shows like Aqua Teen Hunger Force, as in the actual show of DHMIS is so nonsensical and bizarre, pitching to old TV executives would make no sense, so they make a pilot and frame it like a different show that has more structure/meaning, instead of pitching it as three guys sit around and getting killed by puppets.
Sure, it's exclusive to the UK, but it's also free to stream. VPN is well worthwhile for DHMIS
All 6 eps of the tv series is on youtube now, seen them all, its great, first 3 are best imo
But yeah sucks we wont get the wakey wakey pilot in good quality in full (for now) but go watch the others b4 they get taken down
I just now realized that Shy Older Brother was in the thumbnail of Wakey Wakey.
I watched the entire show and didn't realize the pilot was missing until I saw this video recommended to me. Now I wanna watch the pilot.
Maybe some of it wasn't recorded that explains The pilot only 15 minutes instead of 23 minutes!
Apparently we are only missing the last 7 minutes to it, its a shame we got to miss out on the best part,
That Rude Metal Uncle
LET’S SMASH THIS SYSTEM RIGHT NOW! *holds up a sign that says “It my birthday”*
My guess is that when the inevitable bluray release comes out, the pilot or perhaps the entire series is added as a bonus feature
5:00 - 5:03 he rules with an iron.... *what now?!??*
All I'm hoping for is some screen accurate dolls or toys!! I want a scale ragdoll of yellow guy so bad
I'd love to see you make a review/ranking of the dhmis teachers
Just realized that lampshade head dude from the og teaser is in episode 4 or 5 of the new season
I liked what I saw of this but am so glad they rewrote it and we have the series we do now because it really captures the essence of the TH-cam series.
They might save that plot for a future episode. I know the regular show pilot was touched up a little bit to be an actual episode later in the seasons
Thanks!, am so happy by this happy ending!!!! I will give everything to see this one day
i remember first seeing the pilot years ago, getting excited to see the 3 guys go on large scale adventures (as shown in the pilot), feeling like an evolution of the youtube series
i was taken aback and suprised that all the clips and episodes i've seen are.......similar if not the same as the youtube series concept wise (i'm not saying that's a dissapointment, if it ain't broke don't fix it, and the episodes we got are STILL an evolution of the formula from the youtube miniseries).....with not a SINLGE sign or reference to this pilot (not even a small easter egg from my viewings)
Its fascinating that i watch parts of lost media.....before it was labled as lost media, epecially with something that what felt more "Recent"
hopefully one day the public will be able to see the show that they originally propose and see what ideas, other than the characters and aesthetics, carried over to the final show
The cool thing is the ‘shy imaginary older brother’ appears in the trailer and was reused for the final show :D
Theory: what if wakey wakey's plot is going be the main story in season two of the show(if it will have a season two) cause i think the wakey wakey plot is a perfect plot for a season two.
Yellow guy would be a an anarchist...specifically the British 80s Punk Rock scene that came from bands like The Clash, Sex Pistols and The Buzzcocks
I Can't Believe The DHIMS Show Came Out On My Birthday
Anybody noticed how they refrenced the pilot in ep 5
I would love for pilot and wakey wakey To be uploaded on their original TH-cam channel I'm hoping
Yeah this was online for a bit, I watched it on TH-cam.
I actually looked at the episode list for the show before it released, the first episode on the list was actually the pilot simply titled "Pilot"
Welcome back!
I'm pretty sure they'll add all of these in season two because think about it. We already just got season 1. And red guy already teased about the town thing on transportation episode.
Soo. Here you go.
