Surprised Cavour 550 Carrier of Italian Navy - Small but Powerful

- The Italian Navy Cavour is among the newest aircraft carriers in the world today. Cavour aircraft carrier was laid down on July 17, 2001, launched on July 20, 2004 and officially entered service on June 10, 2009 after more than a year of sea trials.
The Cavour aircraft carrier is quite modest in size with a length of 244 m (800.53 ft), a beam of 29.1m (95.47 ft) and a draft of 8.7m (28.54 ft). When completed, the displacement of the aircraft carrier was only 27,100 tons, after a major upgrade before being officially commissioned in the Italian Navy in 2008. The Cavour can reach 30,000 tons of full displacement.
The Italian Navy aircraft carrier was designed to be able to combine fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, along with command, control, and transport of troops or civilian and heavy military vehicles. The space of the aircraft hangar is 2,800 square meters and can accommodate up to 12 helicopters or 8 fixed-wing aircraft. It can also carry up to 24 main battle tanks or more light vehicles like Dardo IFV or Iveco LMV. These vehicles are accessed via the ramps at the rear. The hangar is connected to the deck by two 30-ton lifts, in addition to four smaller lifts for ammunition and service purposes.
Similar to many other European carriers, the island superstructure is located on the starboard, sensors and system processing center are also located here. A pair of double chimney funnels is placed at the top of the superstructure, with two large cranes arranged at either end of the superstructure.
The flight deck of Cavour aircraft carrier has a runway of 183 meters, can accommodate 10 to 12 aircraft and 6 helicopters plus a dedicated search and rescue helicopter. Cavour is designed with a 12-degree ski jump, flight activities that can operate at sea state 6. The Italian carrier can accommodate up to 1,292 people, including officers, 486 crew members, 211 aircrews, amphibious forces and soldiers.

But wouldn't 2 be more productive operationally? Kinda like France one Carrier 3 AAS's at least keep the Garibaldi to maintain it's Amphibious support role for the new Trieste LHD , the Garibaldi can provide the fixed wing strike capability to the IN Amphibious Assault Group while the Cavour can perform (somewhat limited) traditional Carrier Assault roles or be the combat aviation platform for another Amphibious Assault Group.

La Turchia non ha né le conoscenze, né le industrie, né i fondi per costruirsi una portaerei, quindi di Erdogan non mi preoccuperei troppo. La Russia è un altro discorso, ma anche lì sono più concentrati sull'esercito di terra, specie adesso con le rogne che hanno in Ucraina. Il mediterraneo è ancora relativamente tranquillo, se proprio dobbiamo temere la concorrenza di qualcuno io mi preoccuperei di più dei nostri cugini d'oltralpe.

Lol one of the weakest carriers in service. A glorified helicpoter deck. In fact it has never seen any combat ops, only used as a cargo for disaster relief. This thing doesnt even have AWACS capability and very limited strike range capability.
It have F-35B on it, each F-35 it's an AWACS per se.
An Aircraft Carrier should have only anti-air missiles (a thing it have), isn't a Destroyer, deep strike capabilities are useless and costly upon a carrier.
With an authonomy of 7000 Nautical Miles you can reach any part of the world.

Italy has not received it cause Italians assembly it in the only Western FACO facility outside USA, that is in Italy in Cameri. They assembly F-35A and B for them and for the whole Europe, as taking the maintenance of the whole Eu and US-EU F-35's.
Italy was the first country to do a transatlantic flight with an F-35 A.
Italy was the first Nation after USA to have their F-35 A and B with the ICO certification (mean combat rady).
Italy was the first country to officially use their F-35 in a NATO mission (Air policing mission in Iceland) in 2019 (it's plenty of video about that on YT go to check it.
Italy actually have since 2019 both the version A and B.
