    I’ve just purchased a hive “kit” which have without instructions/ or video reference. I would not have managed assembly without your excellent and clear explanation and presentation. I wouild like to refer your video to the commercial distributor who failed miserably in instructions and guidance. You may want to levy a charge for usage! Let me knpow and I’ll name them.

      I am just glad you found it useful, it is exactly this reason I made it!

    Hives sure have come a long way since I was keeping bees long ago. I'm getting back into it, and videos like this are sure helpful. Thank you for your instruction as it fills the gaps in hive construction of today.

    Great video, as others have mentioned you were building the super first and the brood box is the larger.
    I've just build my first using this video, thanks

    Thank you for a simple no nonsense video, I am just learning and the video makes it very easy to understand. I think you need to invest in an upgrade for your workbench in the near future though !! Look forward to more content.

      @@SelfSufficientHub do you not think you should remove the video as it will be misleading to new beekeepers as the content is incorrect? otherwise a good video with clear instruction

    Really useful vid Carl, thanks. What’s the plan for getting bees for it? I’m new to beekeeping too and I’ve just made some swarm traps in the hope of catching some bees for my new hive

    • @SelfSufficientHub
      @SelfSufficientHub  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      David Oliver well I am part of an ascosiation that is raising a colony for me, the process is part of the beginners course I was part of, but all the practical stuff got stomped by the pandemic. I am on the local bee association list of keepers that will go and collect swarms so that’s my current plan but for whatever reason I am still waiting at the moment.
      Everything I do has to be done with the smallest budget possible so patience is my friend.

    • @davidianoliver
      @davidianoliver 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good plan-I was intending to go on a course too but it was cancelled because of coronavirus as well. Apparently there is a pretty good success rate with swarm traps...they’re easy to make too, I just used some old plywood boards. I’m sure you could knock some together pretty cheaply-you can see how I made mine on my channel if you fancy having a go. Just bait them with lemongrass oil. Hope we both get some bees soon one way or the other!

  • @ostjohn

    You call a brood box a super and a super a broodbox. Confusing for beginners who are your target audience.

  • @sustainableselfrelianceire8768
    @sustainableselfrelianceire8768 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I see this is 4 years old, hopefully you will have learned more about bee keeping in the interval and can see the erroneous information for yourself by now. You should take it down and make a new video with correct information. Firstly you don't know a brood box from a super and secondly the queen can roam wherever she wants unless you place a queen excluder on top of any brood boxes and therefore beneath the honey supers, otherwise what's stopping her? All very misleading for any beginners watching.
