Thanks Edward, the machine is a rotary hand held machine, there are loads on the market, ours is a marathon hand machine. The blade we use is available to purchase from our eBay page.

Before you quench, you dip the twisted wire, and later the entire ring, in what appears to be)a powder (or maybe a thick solution.) Is that borax? Also, when soldering the edges onto the ring, do you allow the solder to flow underneath the twisted wire center and fix it?
The powder is ammonium chloride to bring back the colour of the metal after heating it. The second questions, answer is yes, best to get the solder inside for more security.
