Thanks for the shoutout! Man, the Big Single is just at home in the Vela. It's not just you, it really is a perfect match. I like both of the neck pickups, but neither really get very close to a neck single coil sound. The search continues, but so happy you found the ONE for the bridge. So good.

Of course! I did dial in a preset last night of a tweed amp that seemed to love every pickup setting, but alas it's still not the single coil neck sound. May go back to the stock pickup sooner than later, despite enjoying the minihum for what it is.

@@ElliottKleinguitar yeah, and for what it is, a mini hum, I still really enjoy the sweet, round clean on the Lollar.

If you don't have a vintage voiced 60 cycle hum I dont want to talk to you

Nice review! Both Fralin pickups sound great. Did you ever try a Big Single Mini in the neck position? Also is your Big Single bridge pickup the 42 or 43 guage wire?

I went with the mini hum over the big single mini in the neck on Lindys recommendation, so nope never tried it. The bridge one is 43 gauge :)

@@ElliottKleinguitar Thanks for your response! I have the exact same PRS Vela. I ordered a 42 neck and I'm gonna see how it plays with the stock bridge humbucker, but your 43 bridge pickup is like wow!

A 42 gauge neck and bridge would be a great idea. I enjoyed the 43 but I think it was a bit more power than I needed

@@ElliottKleinguitar Was it more powerful than the Thornbucker?

I think it was around the same output but thicker sounding (its been a while). I’ve since experienced the regular Thornbucker and would recommend that 100% though

How would you say the vela's neck compares to those of other PRS's? The semi hollow vela, especially the satin models, look so, so nice, but every single time I've grabbed a PRS guitar, there's something about the neck I immediately dislike. I'm used to very thin necks, but fender necks also feel comfortable, so I don't know what it is.
    Great playing as always!

Thanks for watching! I like the neck a lot, although if you’re looking for a thin neck a PRS to start with would be anything with “pattern thin”, it’s a really comfy playing neck carve. I believe the CE has that carve

The only things i did with vela is swapping the bridge pickup with lollar novel t.
But hey i really missed and need that tele bridge sound

Oh nice I’d love to hear that Novel T. At this point I have that Fralin big single mini and the stock neck and I’m happy with the sound.

@@ElliottKleinguitar I got the big single mini in the bridge on my vela and the fralin mini hum in the neck but I got the lower wind and it does have a more single coil sound. Almost like a fat/scooped strat pickup. I love it
