I have definitely had to change hotel rooms before, but very rarely bc honestly I can’t be bothered 😂 mostly I’d rather just deal w whatever minor inconvenience rather than deal with changing rooms. But this was the fist time I’ve completely switched hotels! I did a car show one time, and everyone was staying at the same hotel. When I got there, I was told that the room I had booked and paid for was not available, so my wife and I would have to get two double beds, instead of one king. We were there for thirty minutes, and decided that the hotel room was so dirty, we couldn't stay. I told the front desk that I wanted a refund, because the room was 1) not clean, and 2) not what I paid for. They informed me that they had one other room available if I wanted it, but I should be told that it only had one King bed, instead of two doubles. You know...like I had ordered originally. As we were leaving the room, my wife picked up a pair of jeans off the floor, and said, "Don't forget your jeans!" They weren't mine. Someone's clothes were still in the room we had originally been placed in. So glad you were taken care of better in this situation.
We had to change rooms when the one we got had two giant cockroaches in the bathroom. It was SUPER late so we didn’t feel like packing back up and relocating. At first they wanted to give us the room next door but we at least made them give us a different floor so that the roaches couldn’t follow us. Thankfully it was only a one night stay.
Sounds like they over booked your room and then didn't get the expected cancelation. You would think they would be more careful it's not like they have a monopoly or something!

I absolutely have changed hotels. My rule is...follow your gut. If you feel unsafe or something is just not right, better to change and enjoy a good night's sleep than to try and rest with one eye open! Love your travel videos!

Your hotel debacle reminded me of a time we had to check out of a hotel and find another hotel in Ocean City Maryland during August. There were 6 of us, rented a like condo, 1 floor, 2 bedrooms, pull out sofa. We checked in and the sofa bed was broken. We called maintenance and he came and ‘fixed’ the bed with a coat hanger! We were like no way in hell. The six of us frantically called all the hotels we could to find rooms for all six of us. Thank goodness we found a hotel, on the beach, and had a great rest of the week.

This reminded me of the Seinfeld episode when Jerry gets a rental car reservation, but then they said they have no cars available. That’s why I made a reservation - to hold the car for me! 🤣 glad it worked out for you guys!

The AC Hotel looked much nice, plus it's brand new, so worked out better your you guys. I use to travel from Ft Lauderdale to Miami every few weeks and hated the traffic, took forever to get anywhere. Glad I'm not having to do that any more. The Hardrock hotel lights up at night. Normally it’s just different colors with some effects, but sometimes they’ll do designs. The other day they had a Snowman tipping his hat on the hotel. It was pretty cute!
Yes, sadly we have had to change hotels too. We have a labor shortage in Miami Dade/Broward, so some things are not as they used to be. Glad you found a safe, clean room on short notice. Today (Thurs) traffic is still bad heading North. Be safe guys, have fun!
I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale and moved to Central FL in 1996. I have driven the Turnpike many times to visit family. Usually I’m too cheap to go Turnpike all the way, so I switch to I95 at Fort Pierce (and stop at McDonald’s). 😂
OMG! I remember when they announced they were building a hotel at the mall. First reaction was WTH?? Have to say it looks nice. Was thinking about going up to Guitar Center next week. I inherited a guitar from work another teacher left and it needs restrung and tuned. Merry Christmas!

The traffic is so bad down here in Miami. One of the many reasons we are moving to Palm Bay. It was cool watching the road trip since we just got back from Universal on Friday and made that drive.

As soon as I saw you guys stay there I’m like uhhhhh and when you had the same experience I was like omg! We love your videos, are huge Disney nuts, and wish you a Merry Christmas!
Mad deja vu and/or nostalgia in this video; McDonalds and the Disney parks playlist are staples of our road trips too 😂 Good call swapping the hotel rez. We’re not fussy travelers either, but a good nights sleep is worth its weight in gold - if you don’t think you’re going to be comfortable staying somewhere, you never have to feel guilty about bailing out. We switched hotels this past summer just south of Clearwater. I thought it was just me and I was comparing to SSR which we had just left, but when my husband and mom both said we can't stay here I felt better. We ended up staying in a neighborhood Marriott for the night until we could find a hotel on the beach, another Marriott. Not fun with two kids in tow, but it all worked out. Thank you for making me remember where I grew up and lived for most of my life! And, I feel you about those 4 hour trips as my wife and I moved to Central Florida in March 2020, yes exactly when the Pandemic hit! Ive eaten at that McDonalds MAny many times when I and my family treckked to Disneyworld and other parks for over 40 years. BTW Try the Arby's across the street too they are good on your way back. I used to live south of the highway crossover with the 836-Dolphin X- way and the Pike! And, I worked at a school in Miami Springs for over 30 + years just south of the Airport! I actually stayed at that loft Hotel many many years ago when it was a Holiday-In if I remember right! Sorry you got your toubles at that hotel, BUT that new hotels looks fabulous! Have fun we'll bee seeing our Grandkids here so have a great Holiday season!

Ha! We stayed at the Aloft Dadeland and had the SAME experience, booked a king and they were all sold out and they were just rude! So we left too!

We switched hotels this past summer just south of Clearwater. I thought it was just me and I was comparing to SSR which we had just left, but when my husband and mom both said we can't stay here I felt better. We ended up staying in a neighborhood Marriott for the night until we could find a hotel on the beach, another Marriott. Not fun with two kids in tow, but it all worked out. Hope your holiday's have been wonderful so far. Have a Happy New Year!!!!

Thank you for making me remember where I grew up and lived for most of my life! And, I feel you about those 4 hour trips as my wife and I moved to Central Florida in March 2020, yes exactly when the Pandemic hit!
Ive eaten at that McDonalds MAny many times when I and my family treckked to Disneyworld and other parks for over 40 years.
BTW Try the Arby's across the street too they are good on your way back.
I used to live south of the highway crossover with the 836-Dolphin X- way and the Pike! And, I worked at a school in Miami Springs for over 30 + years just south of the Airport!
I actually stayed at that loft Hotel many many years ago when it was a Holiday-In if I remember right! Sorry you got your toubles at that hotel, BUT that new hotels looks fabulous!
