    This is what I love about you. You keep it real. Those outtakes about had me hacking on a bone. lol. It's tricky getting back in the saddle after time off. You'll be back in the groove by the next one. Thanks for leaving all the funny stuff it.

      I'm just me Justin. I keep it real and I just had to leave in the part with Lucy hacking on something. My dogs love being on video, but when they aren't, they are usually making some sort of noise in the background to make sure they are at least heard on video. I think my dogs need a manager!!! LOL Thanks for watching my friend! Cheers to ya and hope to see ya soon. God Bless you and the family!!!!!!!

    I did end up buying this for my horizon offset. Should be delivered today and thank God. I was having a horrible time keeping my fire going clean. I even use a small fan to help with airflow and it's still a struggle.

    I bought one a couple months back for my big trailer offset (not a LSG). Major game changer for me! Works great and does everything T-roy said. Went from sitting by the the smoker struggling to keep a clean fire burning to being able to walk away from it and do yard work etc... plus burn less wood. Great investment even for those without a LSG.

    Hey T-Roy, nice review. When I picked up my fire basket the expanded metal bottom only made it through 1 cook before I pulled it. It was a long cook and between between the 2 grates, the spent coals couldn't fall through to the bottom and there was excessive ash buildup. Without the expanded metal it is an absolute champ!

    Wow, to think I handmade basically the same thing 8-10 years ago with a sheet of expanded metal and 2 angle irons for my offset. Can burn in a self feeding manner like the one shown or place the angle irons in the basket to form a S pattern and can get 4-5 hrs charcoal burn time.

    Hey mate, good to see you back, isolation beard an all. I think we are all due for a shave. Loving the inclusion of the outtakes mate, it keeps it real and gives us all a giggle. I love companies who don't sell a product and think they are done, when they go to the trouble of designing extras to improve on their lineup shows great customer service. Cheers for highlighting that 🍻👍

    Thanks for showing us the fire management basket T-Roy. I've been looking for a way to keep my coals and logs in a tighter space, and I really like the way it's staying together instead of falling all over the firebox. With the 24" that we have, it has an insulated firebox already, so I'm wondering how this will play into the already fuel efficient design. I might have to update my birthday list after watching your video T-Roy. Thanks for sharing!

    Tried my Father’s Day gift this evening: a fire management basket for my LSG. I love it. Unlike you, T-Roy; we paid full price. The only thing Chris has given me for free is grief because I delayed the pick-up of my offset smoker due to a family emergency and COVID-19. Great smokers; not such great empathizers. I’m not sure If the quality of the product outweighs the crap attitude.
    But I love the fire management basket. I smoked a small leg of lamb this afternoon and it went for about 2 hours. Since my second split was going strong, I threw on some bacon wrapped Jalapeños poppers, because in Texas they are considered vegetables. The two splits went over three hours without any fussing.

    • @TROYCOOKS
      @TROYCOOKS  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry you had a bad experience with Chris. He must have been stressed with the whole Covid thing, but that's no reason to take it out on a customer. Yeah, the basket really gives me almost double the fuel efficiency!!! It's crazy how it works, but it does work well. I need to cook me a leg of lamb. Wish my wife liked lamb! At least it's more for me!!! Cheers to ya bro!!! Keep that smoke rollin'!!!!!!

    So good to see you back at it T-Roy… been missing ya. Great review! 👍 I have had similar results with my Fire Management Basket. Like your LSG, my 24” was already pretty efficient, but with this new basket, I’m averaging about a 40% to 60% increase in wood burn efficiency. That is a huge wood savings over the course of a summer. AND, you are right… I don’t have to fuss with the fire like I normally would (but don’t tell the wife… she still thinks I have to be with the pit every minute!). 😉 I loved the outtakes… Cheers T-Roy! 🍻🍻🍻

    Hey, T-Roy, try a savory approach for lamb for your wife. Lamb is a sweet meat. Savory spices mute the sweet. I use cumin, cardamom, garlic, paprika, coffee,etc. to prep lamb. It’s far from the hotel preparation of S&P served with mint jelly.

I wanted to see it because I'm close to ordering the 30 inch vertical offset with the off road wheels. If you can post or send me the link for it, I will appreciate it. Also, when I do order it, what things should I add to it that I will not be able to once I get it? I love you lay back style! keep the training videos coming. God Bless and have a GOD-TASTIC DAY! I did a tour of Yoder and was planning on touring LSG, then this COVID thing hit us. So, no tour yet of LSG. I’d get the propane fire starter. Tell Chris and Amber hello for me!!!!

    Hey T-Roy… can you tell me which of your cooks give you the best Flavor? I heard offsets you can’t beat the taste. But I’m your honestly opinion!!

    • @TROYCOOKS
      @TROYCOOKS  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely an offset gives best flavor, but strangely, the WSM would be my 2nd choice. The flavor I get from my WSM is very close to my offset smoker. Hope that helps! Cheers bro!

      @@TROYCOOKS I have WSM 18” and it’s just ok for me, but I know Harry Soo.. like then as well it just gives a ether a strong charcoal flavor or wood flavor and I know put a few chick in. Now I’m not sure about loan star offset.

    Have you done a long term update on the LSG? I see some rust and peeling paint in places.

    I have the Basket helped me dial in my temps better, I like the 20 x 36 a lot so I'm glade I copied you and got it!! I now understand why you get more time on splits than me! Splits in West Texas aren't as good as in Central Texas!! I'm jealous LOL

      @@TROYCOOKS it may be the wood I use. Its kiln dried wood, so not as much moisture in it therefore burn faster??

    Legitimate question that anyone can probably answer. Why cook the chicken on the BBQ to such a high internal temp? I've never made chicken on the grill/smoker but when I make it in the pan I stop around 150 degrees. Just wondering.

      If it's got skin, which his does, the skin will get crispy at higher Temps, versus a rubbery texture at a lower temp

    T-ROY thanks for the vids. Smoked the first brisket today with only your videos for guidance. I have a question for you or your subscribers. How much difference does the charcoal have for temps? I went with a smoker similar to the WSM (identical to the proQ) and it just wouldn't get over 200F (im in Australia). Vents wide open good coals but 200 was its max heat. Can anyone offer some advice?

    How do you get crispy skin on the chicken? If i throw it over hot coals after the smoke i get dark rubbery skin. Should I sear the skin before smoking?
