This game looked, sounded and felt so ahead of it's time back then. It still is miles ahead of most c64 games at the time. And the music still kicks ass! This music was like metal to me back then, hahaha.
Amazing game. I love at the start in the first few duels though. It seems ninjitsu is the art of kicking a man in the balls until he dies. Played this game when I was four-five. My dad never got past the helicopter in the office, and I got as far as the basement box jumping scene. So good to see it finished
I'd love to see a modernised version of these games, keep the same perspective and puzzle element, even that horrendous jump-timing (it took weeks, if not months for my brother and I to get past the bandstand and across that river)
@@jarodcollard5015 Only if the music is unchanged and that they ruined on the remakes of Amiga Monkey island, so that would have happened as well with LN if leaving it up to the game industry
I remember reading the Zzap 64 review over and over again in the school summer holidays as I excitedly waited for this game to be released. When the postman finally delivered it I knew it was going to be amazing as soon as I heard that loading music. One of the few Commodore 64 games I ever completed!
Don´t ask me why this game crossed my mind after so meany years - but I still love it! The music is awesome, especially the first song :-) Thanks for this walkthrough..
I have loads of nice memories playing this game back in the day,Even now when I load and play this game its still one of the best C64 beats em ups around!
this is so nostalgic, last time i saw this game was when i was about 10 years old watching my brother playing this. now im watching and im 30 years old, good times.
This game was magical to me back then, mesmerizing graphics, sounds and gamplay. I can proudly say i finished it and i think i was around 10 years old when i did.
Yep, same here! No internet back then to lookup walkthroughs and tips when you were stuck on a game! I was about 9 years old and managed to complete it as well, felt on top of the world seeing Kunitoki get captured in the end!
Memories, C64, Arcade Games, Ninja Movies, Karate Kid Movies, Rambo, USSR, $ has much more value, no internet, people likes to socialize. Those were the days. Time flies.
I'd 100% go back if I could. We truly didn't realize how good we had it then til it was gone. We were so anxious for the future to arrive, and once it did, we realized some things are better left simple.
So I have a weird question. Who played with Mirror's Edge (2008) ? At the end of the first map, we have to climp a ladder to the roof of a building. On top, at the let there is an even taller building, where our friend awaits. But we need to run forward and catch the helicopter as it flies away. Just like at about 12:18 here. Its either a coincidence, or the ME mapper took inspiration from this.
Great music, really decent animation, and lots of nice work in creating the layouts! I really liked the added touch of having to wait for the crossing light at the curbs to progress... Safety first, even for Ninjas! lol!
"In 1988, I created the Last Ninja 2 soundtrack for System 3. I started with the Central Park tracks, which was important in order to stamp some sort of 'sound' on the game. It basically took from mid-January until early April to finish. It's about as big a project as you would want to undertake, but everything just seemed to work without any real hitches. I was given a fairly free hand to produce what I thought would be most suitable, and, luckily, every time I took in new tracks for each level, I got the thumbs up. It was a great time for me personally, to suddenly be working full time on C64 music. I was almost 18, but I had no real worries in the world beyond whether I could afford to buy a better car." -- Matt Gray, musician
Less than 15 min! So great, dude!!! I remember in 5th class (1988) during big break (15 min) I always tried so hard to do it in our school's computer room, but I never made it... That's why I take drugs today, I think.
Epic game ! the best day of my life is the day when i bought the collectors edition and put on the ninja mask and threw the rubber shuriken in my mates face - the reason to have a 64 -and system 3 are still in the business with a great website !!

The look and sound of this game are both so solid great. I have to play this at some point, I expect it to take time to beat it, but I definitely will. This game manages to feel like a Shô Kosugi ninja film with all the American city surroundings, especially that bad guy's house / offices area after the underground drug lab.

I felt so cool when I managed to play this through. Must have been around 1988-1989. I never learned how to get through the burst of steam (the solution is simple as this video shows) but there is a bug in the game. With some effort and trying, you can walk through the pile of coal in the same room. Even now it looks impressive. And I have never seen it before. Something about the nicely done perspective and fluid animations in such low res.
Game was so ahead of its time.
Was just gonna say that...
Plus probably one of the best soundtracks ever along with Katakis.
I don't think it was ahead of its time at all. It was about right where it should've been with games.
