As a wedding goer...i appreciate when the photos are done prior to the wedding and you aren't waiting around for an hour while they are taking photos, also when you don't have to wait for dinner forever! Congrats Blair!!!

because of you, i will not be doing a honeymoon directly after the wedding! you don’t ever really think about how many people you’re around and how easily you can get sick!
And the build up and stress leads to a lot of illness!
My husband and I were so tired and overstimulated that I think if we’d done a honeymoon right away, we wouldn’t have enjoyed it. Plus we had something to look forward to a few months later.

Non-traditional thing my husband and I did - we had an ice cream truck at our reception! We both love ice cream and we felt it was something that we wanted to incorporate into our big day. It ended up being really hot the day we got married so it ended up working perfectly!

I got married several years ago, but one thing I thought we did that worked out great was to pick a “mood” or theme rather than 2 colors (we picked midsummer night’s dream). This means we had more feedom picking decor we loved even if it was not a very precise color, and I sat by bridesmaids down and we decided together on a cohesive but still individualistic suit of dresses that they all felt comfortable in and could see themselves wearing again, rather than having them buy very specific ones.
I LOVE the idea of private vows before the ceremony!!! I’ve always thought I would just do the regular vows during it because it feels too private to say personal ones in front of everyone, but your idea really speaks to me!!
definitely! but I would do them before I had my makeup done haha

At the time I got married I was a barista at a local coffee shop and really close to all the other baristas I worked with. I really wanted a pour over coffee bar at our wedding and my barista friends stepped up and worked at my wedding in lieu of gifts. We also had a custom roast made for our wedding by a local coffee roaster that was done exactly to our tastes and preferences in coffee. It was such a fun and unique feature during the reception and went over so well with our guests! I’d definitely do it over again!
One thing I loved that my sister did at her wedding was instead of having a giant cake she did a small two tier cake that was set at their sweetheart table that they used for the cake cutting and to save the top tier and then for guests she had a dessert bar with an assortment of bite sized desserts. Everyone loved it! She had different flavored cheesecakes, different flavored cookie bars, mini cup cakes, etc. She got such good feedback about it and there was minimal left but it was all simple to box up for us to take after the ceremony because they were small and not messy like a cake and everyone said they loved that they got to try a little of everything and pick what they wanted instead just having cake.

My wedding was very similar to yours! We didn't do a lot of traditions either (cake cutting, grand entrances, first dances, etc) and it was absolutely PERFECT. My wedding was very small and intimate and I just loved it that way. I got to celebrate with closest friends and family members and I wouldn't do it any other way! One thing that I would tell every future bride- don't go on your honeymoon right after your wedding!! I also got sick the day after my wedding and I'm so glad I wasn't on my way to my honeymoon! You need to have some time to let your body recover from all the wedding emotions! Trust me, you will enjoy your honeymoon SO much more when you're recovered and not feeling sick!

We had our ceremony in the morning and our reception in the evening and LOVED IT. It gave our guests time to go grab lunch in between and change into party clothes. And, it gave us time to enjoy our day, take photos, (of course) go through the chick-fil-a drive through 💜💜💜

Congrats! Love the wedding content so post as much as you want! I got married 11 years ago. It was a good wedding and I'm so happily married, but there were a lot of things from the wedding that i regret because things went wrong and not according to plan. But one non-traditional thing we did that i loved was that we didnt do a bouquet or garter toss (cuz awkward..). Instead, we did a fun "game" with the guests where right before dinner, asked all the married guests to stand up and then sit down when we said how long they had been married. So it was like if you've been married less than 1 year please sit down, and then 5 years married please sit down and so forth. Then when we got to the last couple standing, which was the couple married the longest, we asked them to give us their best marriage advice. It was so cute and sweet to hear marriage advice from my husband's grandparents, who were married 55 years! and the little game got loads of guests involved which was so fun.
I love the photo rule where everyone respected your decision and was present and in the moment! In a way that was a gift to them as well :)
I got married in 2018 when I was only 23 and my biggest regret is not doing a first look/photos before hand. By the time we got photos done and got around to say hello to everyone the night was basically over and people were leaving. So glad this is becoming a more popular thing because it makes SO much sense and is so much better for everyone, wedding party and guests

So many people regret not doing speeches during the dinner. As a wedding attendee, thats definitely something I would recommend people do. It's a perfect opportunity to have people's attention!

My love and I have no interest in a wedding, but I very much enjoy seeing couples who feel otherwise and their weddings 🥰 same as how we chose not to have kids, but I’d watch Elle talk about being a mom any day. So fun hearing about your wedding! It’s so true how you can plan to the very best of your ability but something will always happen! My biggest miss was my hair! I did it myself and did a few test runs that looked good but the day of it did not work out! Resulted in a big frizzy mess, the more product I used to try to fix it the more matted it got 😂 It was so windy outside during our photos so that actually helped make my hair look better in photos but then when we came inside for cocktail and reception my hair was a hot mess😂😂 BUT in the grand scheme of things it’s not a big deal! Especially since the rest of the day was amazing and we all had a great time ❤
This makes me feel sooo much better about how behind i feel planning my wedding that is 7 months away!

Back then, I was living in Macedonia (now North Macedonia), and none of the things you were showing were available to buy there. Loved this video, I just celebrated 2 years married! I think the only thing I regret from my wedding was ordering too much wine (we had a case leftover) and not planning a moment with my dad before he walked me down the aisle. When I met with him during the ceremony it felt a little awkward or rushed but he didn’t mind at all. The whole day is such a whirlwind! Your day looked beautiful! Congrats!

There's a really awesome company based out of Colorado called Clay Treasures that you can send a picture of your bouquet to and they can create an ornament, a necklace, etc. out of clay recreating your flowers! All you need to do is send them photos of your bouquet. I plan to do this for my own wedding florals because I didn't plan anything for it either. But I think this is an awesome way to keep the memory of it without preserving the actual flowers!! She also does custom pieces if you want something different

I love that everything was indoors. As pretty as outdoor photos are, it is really uncomfortable for guests to sit in the hot sun or in the cold. The likelihood that the weather will be mild is very difficult to have happen. I live in an area known for mild weather year round and I have only ever been to one outdoor wedding that was actually mild and comfortable during the ceremony.
I did fake flowers. It was exceptionally cheaper, at least at the time, and I didn’t have to worry about preservation. I’ve had mine ever since and so has my made of honor and that was 11 years ago.
If I could do my wedding over again I would've also done a welcome party instead of a rehearsal dinner. Especially because everyone had to travel to a different state for it. Also would have had the bridal party sit front row for the ceremony instead of standing!

My wedding regret is that I didn’t have the photographer take enough photos. I was trying to rush pictures so people could eat- and not be standing around waiting. But looking back I wish I had taken more time and had them take more of the wedding party- us and family etc.

I never thought about how nice it would be for the bridal party to be able to sit and take in the moment without having to stand up there in front of everyone.
