since this video's been getting a bit of attention recently I'd like to clear something up: this video is an alternate history scenario based on a videogame. if you thought this video was an accurate retelling of history, I'm sorry your education system has failed you.
My friend, the onus is on you to be clear about what this video is. Knowing what computer games are popular has zero to do with the quality of a person’s education. I am South African and I nearly laughed my head off.
I have a question what is the difference between forcing there population into the mines and nationalising the mines Plus you got DA scrapping welfare spot on
I appreciate that this is an alternate history timeline. But the DA would never in a million years kickstart manufacturing and re-industrialise since they believe in a small government that has a hands off approach to the economy, leaving it to the whims of multinationals, just like the ANC. Government intervention in the economy is antithetical to the neoliberal agenda that both the DA and ANC subscribe to, so even though this is alternate history, it's still wrong.
I am South African and was so confused when I heard about the DA taking office, and then the shit with conflict between Namibia, Mozambique and Zimbabwe really confused me, I was 7 at the time you mentioned so I thought that maybe it was a minor thing that took place, then the annexation talk came by and the curtain dropped, Bravo, I went into this video thinking it would be factual, you bamboozled me for almost half the video
I believe the reason this video took so long was because Hansen was roleplaying as a citizen of South Africa and shut off his electricity at random times.
"The DA was elected." The fiction begins. "In unity and diversity a country can find strenght." In my experience it's difficult to find anything because we lack the correct lighting..
As a South African I want to let everyone know for the first time in history we have two parties and things are looking up despite one party being the ANC.
No we have like 5 parties not 2 for pretty much all of sA history there has been at least 2 choices but modern politics is more split then ever before ANC black nationalist with moderate approach to governance MK black ultranationalist DA white Conservatives with a liberal economic outlook IFP black traditionalists PA Conservative Cape Colored Nationalist These parties run the show in SA there are others like ASA that could position itself as the new voice of reason and the EFF but the eff is likely to decline and absorb into MK and ASA needs another election cycle to show if its will become a real alternative that leaves the PA as the major winner in upcoming elections it will likely split the DA vote in future elections as well as win some black support the DA is no longer the opposition leader and its self appointed position as voice of reason is now in doubt with about half it's traditional voters Basically KZN Gauteng and the Cape provinces are already fractured politically and the rest of the county is not ready to consider changing their traditional vote to someone else Ironically the party that is suspected of being the most anti black the VF+ is the only party that has a consistent history of compromise for the sake of governance but that makes it look weak to the core of the white ultranationalist that is believed to be their support base
What’s crazy is that we used to be close to a superpower. While not having the most firepower, we used to have the best trained military and supplied weapons to the likes of the US, UK, and other UN members.
As a South African I find it really funny and cool that Tony Leon (DA leader I’m the early 2000s) kinda just swoops in out of nowhere and turns South Africa into a superpower country. Great video in general 👌
Might I recommend a future documentary style video with a nation in Pax Britannica? I hear Germany is interesting, as Franz Ferdinand is still alive in the PB universe. Or as France (PB's equivalent to N*zi Germany), bring the Orleanist Dynasty back into power.
I don't really like pax britannica but I might do britain at some point. Still too early to think about the next video though, gonna relax a bit now that I finished this one.
As a South African, we should take lesotho as out own, because it only exists since the people ran away from KZN during the Mfecane and king Shaka Zulu's revenge, making them citizens by extension, and thus lesotho is a vassal state that we should retake
@@thebadstation8416 the majority of the south african government is black, white people hold little power in SA, and since it's real life it never goes beyond corruption, africans don't have ambition they're like mugabe.

Great video! Said this before with the Czechoslovakia but I really do enjoy your different style of editing and turn for HOI4 content. What made you want to do South Africa in Millenium Dawn considering they had no focus tree?
Welfare does jack shit to lift people out of poverty. What actually lifts people out of poverty is companies not requesting a phd to allow people to flip burgers at mcdonalds. Entry requirements for the job market are insane, especially in tiered education systems like germany where having only a high school degree means that you should start practicing being an unemployed alcoholic because you arent getting any job with those qualifications

The UN actually doing something is the most unrealistic part of this entire video
The UN can only come to action when its on something that they want.
Lol. That's legitimately the part that made me laugh
This video has given me Real Life Lore vibes and I loved every second of it.
I've definitely been moving in a more "alt hist" direction instead of a hoi direction as of late

Nice meme
That optimistic outlook will be very short lived. You lot in SA never learn.
No we have like 5 parties not 2 for pretty much all of sA history there has been at least 2 choices but modern politics is more split then ever before
ANC black nationalist with moderate approach to governance
MK black ultranationalist
DA white Conservatives with a liberal economic outlook
IFP black traditionalists
PA Conservative Cape Colored Nationalist
These parties run the show in SA there are others like ASA that could position itself as the new voice of reason and the EFF but the eff is likely to decline and absorb into MK and ASA needs another election cycle to show if its will become a real alternative that leaves the PA as the major winner in upcoming elections it will likely split the DA vote in future elections as well as win some black support the DA is no longer the opposition leader and its self appointed position as voice of reason is now in doubt with about half it's traditional voters
Basically KZN Gauteng and the Cape provinces are already fractured politically and the rest of the county is not ready to consider changing their traditional vote to someone else
Ironically the party that is suspected of being the most anti black the VF+ is the only party that has a consistent history of compromise for the sake of governance but that makes it look weak to the core of the white ultranationalist that is believed to be their support base
I like to think that, in this timeline, anti-nuclear activists added the Kimberly R&D plant to their list of "times a nuclear plant caused an issue".
"ANC can I look at budget plox?"
".......No."
( *everything catches on fire* )
