Vanlife in the Netherlands

Welcome back to our adventures travelling through Europe in our self-built camper van. we continue our journey north from Dunkirk into Belgium where we find a nice quiet overnight stop next to the Mira Bridge in Homme.

From Belgium, we travel to the city of Amsterdam and stay at the Gaasper campsite right next to the Metro station which takes you directly into the heart of Amsterdam. The campsite can be found on this google link -

Rob ( ‪@PackTheVanAndGo‬ ) wanted to visit the bridge at Arnhem and go into the visitors centre there because of its significance in the Second World War and its part in the film "A Bridge Too Far" You can read more about its history here - en.wikipedia.o...

After our short lunch stop in Arnhem, we continue north to Giethoorn, a really pretty town built on peat bogs with loads of canals between the houses and everyone gets around by electric boat.

Our last location in the Netherlands was the fort at Bourtange. Well worth a visit with its unique shaped moat and one of the oldest working windmills.

Most of the places we have visited just ask to see your proof of vaccination for covid and you are expected to wear a mask indoors. But other than that it has been very easy to travel from country to country and does feel like normal again. Long may that last.
