My Father was a B24 Navigator 449th Bombardment 716th Squadron part of the Forgotten 15th AF, shot down over Yugoslavia 1/14/1944. The 449th had the record for the most Missions to Ploesti the most heavy defended target in Europe. It was not a pleasant place to be. Missions and losses were horrific. My Father's Ship was part of the Original Cadre of 63 Ships. Only18 of the 63 Ships saw the end of the war. He always said that their Ground Crew Chief was the most important Man in the Operation of the Ship. Narrator does not talk about flying @ 50 below Zero for 10 hours, knocking icicles off your mouth as saliva froze coming off your oxygen mask, being attacked by Fighters without escort, flak exploding all around you. Yet they kept on going all the time. May God bless all of the Greatest Generation!

My father flew 29 missions over Europe as a waist gunner in a B-24.

The much vaunted F4U Corsair had a 13 to 1 kill rate yet the B24 in the Pacific had one of over 15 to 1. Pretty impressive.

The RAF thought it much superior to the B-17 Fortress which, in the RAF's view, was too slow and didn't carry a big enough bomb load.

IIRC the USAAF 8th Air Force preferred using B-17’s over the B-24. My favorite B-24’s were maritime patrol versions

My grandpa was in 2nd Bomb squadron working on B-24 in England during WW2. I think that’s what it said in his papers.

    Thank you.

The C-119 was named the "flying boxcar".

Low level runs, submarine warfare attack runs @ 330mph eighty to 100 feet above the water.Sometimes perishing in their own blast wave. SALUTE to all who dominated the sky.🤓

An unknown statistic was how many crews were killed flying these in the US alone during training. Many pilots referred to their B-24 as 'that bitch'. I had the privilege of talking with a pilot from WW2 back in the 90's that said the B-24 was finicky at best, the B-17 easier but a little tricky on takeoff and landing, and the B-25 as the easiest, most forgiving plane to fly. He absolutely loved the B-25.

Many B24s were used in the Pacific du to their greater susceptibility to damage when flying in Europe.

The captions are annoying. There does not seem to be a way to remove them.

Why isn't this plane famous like the B17?

While 12.7mm is technically correct, they are .50 cal m2 browning machine guns

cant find an accurate description of the vlr liberator-terry bullock sqdr leader 120 squadron clearly states his vlr liberator had a quad 20mm pack at the front instead of a turret??

The lighting could use some work. Things look a little washed out. Too much indirect lighting it seems. You might also want to improve the surrounding terrain.

Why are you using metric measurements? The airplane was designed and flown before metric craziness took over the world.
