Can you believe it has been 6 years since I have uploaded a B-24 video! Well, bombers are still in a pretty bad state but the B-24 was moved down in battle rating and was heavily requested in comments. I won't lie, it was actually pretty fun.

My grandfather was a tail gunner for a B-24 in WWII. One time he needed to get something that was in the main fuselage, so he got out of the turret. About two minutes later, the turret was blown off by flack. Luckily, he hadn’t returned yet or he would have died.

I had a grandfather survive Pearl Harbor the day it was attacked. Seems both men were fortunate and blessed to become dads and eventually grandparents.
My great uncle died inside the tail gunner he got shot down 😢😢😢 My grandma was in the navy and survived 😮😮😮 My great great grandad was in WW2 and survived

The b24 in real life wasn't that durable, its wings were its weak spot because of the joint, the slightest hit could send the thing flying off.

Also in real life german fighters were only able to take down US bombers when atacking in packs. Unlike in war thunder a lone fighter did not stand a chance.
In fact they became so despread that there " Sonderkommando Elbe" was created which was a unit which would ram US bombers in their 109s in order to kill them. If MG 151 would work in real life like they do in war thunder do you seriously think that they would have to deliberatly ram US bombers in order to kill them?

The reason why bombers seem to break easy is because it is very easy to hit with mouse aim.

That's part of the problem, real bomber formations also had strength in numbers, and sometimes a proper fighter escort. Something defo needs to be addressed :(

The B-26 should have been added way before those two. Also it showes that gaijin can and will ad world war 2 era bombers.
@@jakobc.2558 True, my point was though that 80-90% of the "marketable" vechicles added are either close to top tier or at top tier. The 188, 288, and 388 being an exception to that, plus the 388 was an event plane, and the 288 is quite pricey. Nevermind they are German planes, the one nation who hasn't ever had a bomber crowd (atleast in mass numbers) at mid to high tier.
Gaijin may be willing, but not for anything other then getting the most amount of money possible. I'm not saying that as a terrible thing either, but the way they are doing it is making it bad (look at all the OP event/premium vechicles, and the underpowered tech tree equivalent).
PS: People have been asking for the Maruarder, and Razorback 47s since before the Korean War Era was a thing.
Dude, you're confusing the B-26 Marauder with the A-26 Invader. The B-26 has an top speed of around 460 km/h while the A-26 is more like 560 km/h

So here's the problem with Bombers in WT currently... if a squadron of four bombers, crewed by experienced players, flying in formation all firing at the same target can't survive more than one or two planes, there's really no point in playing bombers.
I know it kinda sucked back in the day when bombers were bullet sponges, but to be honest, that was still better than it is now.

They really only sort of become relevant in Sim battles. But even then, the rewards you get is meh at best. But flying a 4 bomber formation that mode feels so good tho

Bombers need a serious rework in my opinion. They still die way too easy. Just like the b29 video. Love the video though!

F222.2 is best at low tier bomber plays. Pretty durable bomber.
Engine fire extinguishers would be a good start. Your engine is on fire, but you cant dive to put it out so your fucked
ALLIED bombers die way too easy. German bombers eat 20mms like youre shooting a .50 at a tiger 1.

@@riccardomariani9648 Except for the fact that those AXIS planes are usually on the winning side - so, if you're a bit careful you're most likely to not be a dumb Axis pilot, headon-ing everything in sight and thus avoiding the repair cost.
I’ve actually flown in a B-24 (the Diamond Lil). One of the coolest things I’ve ever done. My seat was where the the radio operator sits (it’s basically where the wings are). We got to tour the whole plane midflight, including holding the machine guns.
I dropped my bomb, they might not be accurate, but I did my best. NIGHT BOMBINGS INTENSIFIES

This video really shows how bad the game is with the bomber models. The 109 hit him with one tap and his wing separated from his aircraft. ONE TAP LMAO
Bombers are insane at times, b-17 dies after getting shot once by a Russian plane but a german plane has rammed into the back of my b-17 and I took no damage

From my experience, if you use individual engine controls and only turn off the engine on fire there's a higher chance the fire will go out as compared to turning off all engines. The controls menu is useful for that.

It does warm my heart to see everyone complaining about bombers in the comment section, makes me feel a little less alone when I go out and fly attackers and bombers tonight. Somehow Gajin, in all their reading to out aircraft in their "historically accurate and simulator game" forgot to realise that bombers were critical to victory in WW2. Hell, the whole reason that Fighter Planes exist was because Obersvation and Bomber aircraft used to cross the line of battle unchallenged, except by anti-aircraft, during The Great War. I want everyone to think about that for a moment, your P-51 and Bf 109 would not have existed without the presence of planes like the CR.42 (used for Recon once outdated) and the OS2U Kingfisher (designated Recon airplane). Fighters were built to intercept and protect observation and bombing aircraft. Yet somehow Gajin never learned this, and possibly half of the War Thunder community as well.
But the earliest fighters were just recon planes with MGs strapped to them?
@@LAHFaust That and bombers/observers where the pilot/observer carried a pistol or rifle to shoot at planes as they met each other over No Man's Land. Apparently before that pilots would often wave and make friendly gestures as they passed each other (possibly, I haven't seen many definitive resources on that but pilots did have a mutual/chivalry respect for each other at the time)
As one of my favorite planes I was glad to see the B-24 in use.

Bombers are still too damn weak. Even if they fix them though, given the accuracy bonus of mouse aim and such, I feel that bombers need a game mode more suited to them. This as fun as it is too watch, is not fun to play as.

Well, in a bomber you should not go directly for the bases as you won't get any help that way. You will just end up closer to the enemy fighters than yours (which have to climb before reaching you). You can go for the bases only if you're in a fast bomber that can bomb it and then run away before enemy fighters can climb to you.
Also flying in formation make it easier to focus bomber's firepower but it also makes it very easy to hit several bombers in a row... and with mouse-aiming it's pretty easy to be accurate and shoot 30 shells in your wings. So it is not that good of an idea.
Bombers were never "fun" to play, all you do is navigating and rail-shooting any enemy fighters that come close to you, that's it (in RB anyway).
It can be relaxing (especially with friends) but I don't see how it could be fun to play.
I have this book about the AAF and their is a picture of a B-17 on a runway from a bombing mission that was almost cut in half by AA, and another one that landed safely after it had been rammed by a enemy plane. Yet in war thunder if some heavy mgs hit your wing it falls off.

That's basically me when ever I play one of my American Heavys...even the A26 Invader to some extent. People just have the mentally that Bombers either don't need cover, or can't be bothered to get the kills. Plus it doesn't help bombers fold in on themselves at the sight of a 20mm.

not a lot those are just railway cars they give you 3-10 exp points and a couple 100 silver lions. And arn't even part of the objective, you can even easily gun them down.
You don't much for bombing them. Same as AA.
