    The sad thing about enjoying your videos so much is that I have watched them all now. :'( They were great. I really enjoyed the survival challenges. The round house build has been great too.

      Looks like you might want to buy or make a froe. It's great for making shingles, boards etc. You can use a machette but get one with a extra thick spine.

    Perhaps there is time to be saved if you dont make every scollop(?) from beginning to end. Split a big bundle in one go. Then sharpen in the second go. That works for me in other aspects.

    Hi!
    I've been thinking, what about wearing medieval clothing during your stay in the roundhouse Julius? It could really add to experience and making simple garb is quite easy. I mean, not from scratch, you could buy thread and fabric in the store (no synthetics ofc).
    I know that you want to use only materials found around the roundhouse, but in the case of clothing, this could be the best aproximation and it would even make some things easier (like drying clothes near the fire without risk of sparks destroing it, etc).
    Anyways, thanks for your videos, they keep me sane in a way. I can't get to the woods so often nowdays, but your channel inspires me for my future projects :D

    Loved that thanks guys! Julius, your next project is a throne fit for a wilderness king! Have you seen a froe? the long handle at 90 degrees to the blade makes the twisting less demanding on the wrists. I wonder if a blade mounted vertically in a decent stump could be used to pull and twist a split in a pole...

    • @skeetsmcgrew3282
      @skeetsmcgrew3282 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like that idea. Basically like a hydrolic wood splitter but with a thin blade and powered by your body. I bet you could really get some good torque on it that way. Mounting would be tough though. You need it to be resistant to both back and forth and side to side movement. Youd almost need to start with a blade with no handle so you could literally turn the stump into the handle

    Is the bog turf still cut as fuel for burning in the fireplaces over in Ireland's country areas?

    • @skeetsmcgrew3282
      @skeetsmcgrew3282 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peat is still a fuel source for some things. But its extremely dirty, it makes coal look like propane

    • @ulrichrenner6256
      @ulrichrenner6256 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That didn't make me nervous at all. All those pointy unshortened scollop ends in the shed behind them do.
      I would not want to go in there, imagine losing an eye that way and then having to explain for the rest of your life how it happened.

    Dylan is not putting much effort into his scallops, your getting 2-4 per Hazel rod whereas Dylan is getting 1, he's not being very helpful, more interested in that modern gadget of a phone than putting the effort into helping you out, shame on you Dylan...
