  • Enjoy this close look at one of the most legendary and memorable bikes off all-time. It’s Ricky Carmichael’s 2001 Kawasaki USA KX 250. This is one of the machines that helped Carmichael become the “G.O.A.T.”

I was fortunate enough to do an entire full engine rebuild on that model. The engine was super easy to tear down. Pop the crank bearings in the freezer for the night and then use a heat gun to expand the crank case so the bearings drop right in the hole. That is literally the only challenging part you will come across during the rebuild and it wasn’t even hard. Super easy bike to rebuild

I graduated in 2001 and my mom bought me a 2001 kx 250 for my graduation. I actually got into Kawasaki back in the 90s when mike larocco and Mike kedrowski raced for Kawasaki lol

His favorite bike? He left kawasaki because he felt the bike was getting left behind. Hence, the switch to honda in 02. JS

Wrong he went to Honda cause they threw a ridiculous amount of money at him

@@devastator226 2:33 into whisky throttle podcast. Referring to Kawasaki, “I knew that I was going to be on the same bike, Kawasaki wasn’t coming out with a new model, and I was worried McGrath was going to figure something out. Honda had told me what they were coming out with and I wanted to be prepared”.
Wasn’t for money, at least from Rickys perspective. Now, from Honda to Suzuki was all about money. He talks about that in the WT podcast too. 👍🏻

I absolutely hate that color. I hope they never use it again. The stock color is awesome. Leave it alone. Probably why he went to Honda.
