This is genuinely the first arrangement of this song I've heard that actually captures the original's unique tone. Good heckin' work!!
I think Fortune Street’s version captures it pretty well too and builds upon it
I really wish this theme would get used again. it's so underated and it fits perfectly for a final castle.
Also this is a seriously amazing remix. Not many covers of this have the same vibe as the original but this one definitely does.

With Bowser being the main villain in other games, I think "Him or Koopalings. Take it or leave it." When I'm chasing Jr. in this game, where every boss is original, I hear this and think in every castle "Who the heck am I going to fight in the throne room _now?"_

@@JonCausithONS I feel like this castle theme sounds more like a final castle theme, while the NSMBW one sounds like a normal castle. I love both of them, but I feel like they should have remixed NSMBDS' castle for the final castle theme.
For what it's worth, Fortune Street has a remix of this that's worth checking it.
Mario Super Slugger too, though that one has a much different feel.

The castle theme from SMW and Final Bowser from SM64 are definitely up there with it though.
Man, this is underrated. New Super Mario Bros. DS is the biggest game of my childhood with SM64 DS, and I've got to say that while all other arrangements focus on the "mwahahah I'm so evil" tone of the music, you managed to make it sound like that game came out nowadays with the same tone, the same feeling that I would meet in the game.
This surprised me at first, but now, I realize this is probably the most interesting take I've ever listened to for this OST. I tip my hat to you, this is going straight into my personal playlist.
okay, both this and the NSMBWii final boss theme arrangements give off amazing Shimomura vibes.

Yeah, I have to agree there. The volume mixing could be better.... Otherwise, though, this is really good. (And a seriously underappreciated theme in the Mario series in general.... Why was it ditched in the later NSMB games?)
