I love that Wesley thought Braunstein was a flop, and the players loved it. As a GM, I've had this happen a time or two. One of the best parts of RPGs is that each player is, in some way, responsible for their own fun. That said, the interactions are the spice of it all.
Dave's Father Humbly says "I can't take any credit... While mostly true, Dave's parents must have let Dave run wild with his passions and dreams... I mean the guy was comfortable to be running the first Roleplay War Games in his basement arguing about a game night after night and his parents just said "Well I don't get it but ok..." I have no other knowledge about his upbringing and family then this doc.
I am very well aware that there is a private chat where my players scheme in every game I run. I wouldn't have it any other way. I do it too after all.
