When I started learning to use my head as a pressure tool, it totally changed my pressure game. Thanks for this vid man, this will help a LOT of people.
Dude, your channel is such a great dive into the nuances of grappling people don't always notice, while also being very humble and chill. Keep up the awesome work.
Great video. I was wondering after watching your other video (How To Pass Half Guard) from two years ago, you were doing some passes with the cross-face. But here, it seems like using your head instead might be more optimal?
Ya my mind has kinda changed since making that. One advantage of a crossface form half is that will already have it when you do pass. But I think there's more advantages of using your head instead. I think for beginners it's eaiser to just keep it simple so I that video is still good for them. Maybe I'll make an updated one sometime though 🙂
Glad you mentioned head position for passing half guard. I'm a big half guard guy and that is the number 1 way people can actually pass my guard, but most people don't try to pass that way. Proper head positioning really shuts my game down as the head keeps me flat and they still have two hands to combat my two.
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu hahahah, nah man I learned so much in our 2 weeks rolling, head position, importance of inside control and ofc your arm triangle details are the best I've seen
I didn't understand the example at 7:03. "for example here i lose head position, and I lose butterfly guard because I couldn't stay on my butt, he won the battle of head position" So which happened first? Did Jordan fall to his side and off of his butt so he lost head position? or did his partner win head position so Jordan couldn't stay on his butt? Also it wasn't obvious to me how Jordan lost head position. he kept his head under his partner's chin, his neck was safe, and his partner shouldn't have been able to close the distance. ⬜⬛⬜
Another great concept video. I’ve actually started emphasizing head position even with toreando passing and it’s surprising how much of a dif it can make.
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu Don't change the monotone voice; it's what I hear when I'm rolling and remember what you said. I think it matches my own internal voice :)
It's a good detail but something has to be taught to higher belts that can utilize more control . Can you imagine the chaos telling a spazzy white belt to use his head .I had head butt to the nose incident at my gym with two white belts rolling....well I don't have to tell you how that went 😰
Everything can be taught with a proper approach and when the student(s) are willing to listen. I've seen quite a number of higher belts do what you're describing, as well as a number of white belts doing this how it should be done. 🙂

I am so bad at Jiu Jitsu
Keep going
@@MrLeonrobinson i am trying
Lmao it be like that sometimes. You have good days and bad days but just keep at it
I'm about 5 months in and I rarely do "well" but the way I look at it is, I will always get better, even if incrementally, and that's what matters.
Keep your mindset as “I have a lot more to learn in jiu jitsu” when you say negative stuff your brain believes it and will hinder you.

Thanks man, I hope so!
Holy shit. The man himself

Wow I literally just filmed a video on using your head before vacation 😢 good video
Damn 😢. Hope you're having a good vacation at least!
It's said that learning the same subject from different sources enforces learning. Would love to hear your input in this too!

Thanks man! That means a lot 🙏
Am studying JJ but had my first wrestling class last night and head position and using the head was emphasized a lot.Great topic!
Thanks for all your Free Content Jordan! Makes the stuff I purchased worth it knowing that you can continue to provide for the community! THANK YOU!
I appreciate that! 🙏
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu I appreciate you!
Hey Jordan, i‘m currently working at my Half Guard passing, thanks for the advice. I’ll try and utilize the head more often.
This is great advice! It's damn hard to remember all the techniques I see on YT, but this one is so basic and easy to remember. Just use your head!
Happy to help!

Hey serious question! 🙋♂️ do you plan on making ur competitive return as Jordan “The Monotone Monster” Presinger ?
I feel like I'm less monotone than ever haha

When I first read the title, I thought he meant using my brain.
Both in a sense haha
I also thought the same thing at first glance😂
Why ignore 20% of your own body
I use head position and the concept of spine manipulation for my entire top game 😉
What if u don't want to mess up yo haur tho? lol
When are you going to post getting submitted on youtube!!!
If it ever happens I will post it!
For that women’s think 💭: Jiujiteros really knows how to use the head!
I also use my 3rd leg 🤷♂️
😅
I quit
I’m here for the head jokes…
(Not one as of yet)
I guess my old ass is the only immature one here: “when I played soccer, I took a lot of balls to the head”. Pretty much all I heard look 😔
Better Help are unethical grifters, otherwise great video.
How so?
Use your head. Literally. See, that's how you use "literally" correctly
